Figurine Collection Magazine Issue 206 The Borad

The Doctor Who Figurine Collection part 206 features Borad from the 1985 Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) adventure ‘Timelash’.
An old enemy of the Doctor, Borad was the all-powerful dictator of the planet Karfel. A brilliant but unethical scientist, Borad fused himself with reptilian tissue to increase his own lifespan, hiding his hideous mutations from his subjects with clones and technological trickery.
Borad used his Timelash technology to dispose of dissidents, sending them back in time to 12th century Scotland. His reign ended only once the Sixth Doctor revealed his evil deeds along with his true form, driving him into a fit of madness. Ultimately, Borad was hurled into his own Timelash and stranded in the distant past – where the Doctor thought he might have become the Loch Ness Monster!

Somebody on the facebook page have recieved Borad, Recon Dalek, Raston and Impaled cyberman with images, though he doesnt state where he ordered. Its really starting to get subscribers and non subscribers backs up now. No communication and still nothing on online shop. I ordered from FP but still havent recieved mine except Navarino.

November 19th, 2021 - 12:23pmHey, Ergon – I’ve just spoken to Eaglemoss and can confirm this is true. Issues 204 & 205 have never made it to the UK warehouse and they’ve no idea when these will be received. You next delivery should be 206 & 207, plus the Cyber Controller Special (if you are due that too).

I think everything is just speculation and up in the air. I guess we get what we get when it gets to us. Perhaps 206-209 have been knocked out and on their way. I,d like to believe 206 and 207 arent far behind for subscribers that way us unsubscribed havent long to wait for the shop to get these in.

I really hope the range continues through the 13th series and beyond especially with the RTD news, but there’s hardly any more classic and new series figures that are standouts that I can think of.

September 29th, 2021 - 9:17amThere’s many I can think of: Drahvin, chumblies, fish people, Axon monster, Kronos, krynoid, Kraal, fendahl, ogri, movellian, watcher, monarch, Android from the visitation, George from black orchid, mawdryn, malus, tractators, dragon monster from the caves of androzani, cryon from attack of the cybermen, cleaner robot from paradise towers, Kandyman (even though it will never happen) the nemesis statue, Gods of ragnorok, morganine, light. And some for the new series: Flood, human form of the Saturnyne, the dream lord, 42 burn with me monster, hoix, jaggerfess and the Lazarus monster (those two probably won’t happen), boneless, sandmonster (sleep no more). And those are just from the top of my head

September 29th, 2021 - 5:16pmI’d like to see A peg Doll figurine which is a standout figure that hasn’t been made yet. The Ergon of course. Don’t know if Erato with ever get made but it’s pretty unique. A P-ting and Troll Doll would be great although rather small so would after be sculpted with another prop. Black guardian and White Guardian would be cool. Maybe A Menoptera or wingless Menoptera with a Dominator, Foamasi, Male Eldrad, Bus conductor robot from TGSITG, Heamavore, Cyberman droid and a Meglos Doctor with Specials of a Macra and Mara. Also maybe a few figures from Colony in Space and a Toy Robot, Clown and Billy bunter from Celestial Toy maker.

September 29th, 2021 - 6:01pmColeman if Harrops can do it on such a small scale at the usual price now i don,t see why Eaglemoss can,t get cracking on one. I love all those choices you and Auton have listed. I,ve said it before but i wish they would do variant sets that way we could get all those Robots of death, three pegdolls(my favourite being the Amy pegdoll) and they could cover more Daleks and Cybermen quicker without touching the single releases. I mention the story figurine boxsets to get more from each even if they came as 2 packs. So yes to an masked Greel and Mr. Syn, Meglos Doctor and cactus, Ogri and Cailleach etc…Coleman i would love The Servo Robot from wheel. as for The celestial toymaker they could do joey and ‘Clara’. Billy wasn,t actually called ‘Bunter’ in the story only alluded to as the BBC couldn,t get permission from charles hamilton to use it as well as a few other fictional characters they were unable to use also if i remember reading somewhere.

September 30th, 2021 - 10:31amThe only one that most want that Eaglemoss have said they cannot do is The Kandyman and i believe there were a few others. So unless Bassetts relent it will always be an incomplete collection for most fans Auton.

September 30th, 2021 - 1:20pmI think the glass dalek was one, they did say they couldnt do the stained glass look justice and i think there were issues with the Taran wood Beast coleman. there was also a marvel figurine which had a clear see through effect which has been done recently which fans speculate it could open the door to other figurines being made in the Doctor who collection such as The Kassavin etc…

I always thought the Borad was a real mishmash: very good face prosthetic, flipper made by school kids using tissue paper and PVA glue, and then a last minute green eye paint job by someone who’d never used a paintbrush or seen an eyeball before (presumably because in the second recording block the black eyeball reflected the studio?).

September 29th, 2021 - 12:40pmRex Farrel, yes He’s got one of the best prosthetic face masks in classic Who it’s really quite creepy the way it’s offset to his real face and he can just about talk with his new mouth.
The flipper is lazy and spoils the look, I haven’t noiced the eye colour but I haven’t seen it for a while. The rubbish bag he’s waring is not great either but then he’s not getting out much so why dress up.

Take a look at his new eye-job in his last scene though – they haven’t even painted inside the lines! It really spoils the good work on the mask.

September 28th, 2021 - 2:19pmAh at last !! ‘Human’ half of the face doesnt look ‘quite right’ and I’m not sure about that large orange control – need to refresh my memory. However he is in his chair as hoped for and he is rather good and he is Sixth Dr’s era which is a rarity. As usual with the face a lot will depend how skilled a painter you get I think.

As well as the horror, i love the comical scenes between the doctor and Rose especially where the doctor rebukes Roses attempt at a scottish accent and the bet to get Queen Victoria to say she is ‘not amused’.
Its been a while since we had a companion set announcement. I,d like Steven and Dodo from Toymaker. Maybe Clara, courtney and Danny pink with Twelfth would go down a treat, but Styggron,yes, i imagine, could turn up before 220.

August 2nd, 2021 - 1:13pmReally pleased that EM are adding the Borad to the collection. This is one of those villains that a number of fans have been requesting for a while now (including me). Good on EM for delivering. I watched Timelash not so long ago and it felt like it had all the ingredients in place, sets, some good villains etc but somehow failed to deliver and it came across as quite cheesy in the end..
Now EM, how about the Terileptil Android?
