Dotor Who Twelfth Doctor 8″ Figure (Cancelled)

Doctor Who Twelfth Doctor 8-Inch Action Figure

This item in now cancelled

The wait is over! The Twelfth Doctor has been revealed and Bif Bang Pow! is proud to introduce the Twelfth Doctor in an 8-inch scale EMCE action figure! Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor stands about 8-inches tall and features real fabric clothing, accessories, and multiple points of articulation. Ages 14 and up.

Produced by the BBC, Doctor Who is the longest-running sci-fi TV series in the world. The award-winning show presents the adventures of a time traveler known simply as “the Doctor.” Along with his companions, this mysterious Time Lord journeys through time and space using his TARDIS, which appears from the outside to be an ordinary police phone booth.

The Twelfth Doctor!

by Bethany Grenald

I was really excited to hear that Peter Capaldi has been chosen to be the 12th incarnation of Doctor Who! Of course, for us, the announcement immediately threw us into high gear! We are licensed to make Doctor Who action figures, and we want to be sure that fans can get their hands on their 12th Doctor action figures as soon as possible!

So what does this mean? As soon as we heard the announcement, we began making the sculpt for the action figure’s head. It takes a long time to create a sculpt that meets our standards. We also need to get it approved by the BBC and the actor himself.

Once we get a sculpt approved, we’ve got to wait…

In the good old days it started in the Autumn and ran non-stop until the end of the next Summer.

You can’t beat that, even if you set it to today’s episode length we’d still have far more episodes.

    • Sam Bentley

      August 18th, 2013 - 12:35pm

Also if it was like the ‘good old days’ we would have about 4 20min episodes spanning over a matter of weeks.

That’s pretty damn good. Very distinguished, and nicely disproves the “Capaldi is ugly” rubbish that’s doing the rounds on some corners of the internet.

I’m really impressed with BBP’s commitment to the show these days, and am far more interested in their figures now than the Character’s range. Just a shame it takes so long for them to turn up in the UK.

wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t cost so much to get stuff sent from the USA

you would think in this day and age they could get a parcel from one side of the world to the other for a reasonable price

It was during filming for The Time of Angels which, I’ve just checked, was July 2009, 6 months after the reveal but we probably won’t get a peek at Capaldi’s costume until January when they start filming Series 8

I think it’d be cool to have him dark, moody and gloomy one moment then joking around and a bit like eccleston the next, I don’t think he’ll be a complete dark character, Peter is a comical actor, so his doctor I think will he comical too.

    • Vortexsurfer

      August 5th, 2013 - 9:12pm

I’ve always liked the idea of the new costume being revealed over time – so he sticks with the Matt Smith costume but ditches the bow tie in the first episode, and then the rest is slowly changed until you’re left with the new costume by the end of the season.

    • Anonymous

      August 5th, 2013 - 10:08pm

I think he should wear various different items of clothing from previous Doctors. E.g Ninth Doctor or Dark Eyes Eighth Doctor’s Leather Jacket, Third Doctor’s Frill Fronted Shirt, Fourth Doctor’s Scarf, Second Doctor’s Bow Tie, maybe? And Tenth Doctor’s Converse Trainers.

I’d love to see the return of “edwardian” Doctors – practically every classic Doctor was nicknamed “edwardian”. Also, it seems to be a rule that each Doctor has to wear a tie, a bow tie or a cravat at least once (Eccleston on the pictures Clive shows to Rose in “Rose”.)
