These six real ‘hide behind the sofa’ collections bring together episodes of the scariest and most iconic monsters from Doctor Who’s classic and recent series.
Each title concentrates on a deadly enemy – The Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, The Master, Davros and the Silurians – and features two separate stories from popular incarnations of the Doctor, including Matt Smith, David Tennant, Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee. These collections are perfect for younger viewers just discovering the scary delights of fifty years of Doctor Who.
The Monster Collection: Davros
Genesis of the Daleks (1975)
The Time Lords intercept the transmat beam taking the Doctor, Sarah and Harry back to Nerva and deposit them instead on the planet Skaro at an early point in its history. Starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor.
The Stolen Earth and Journey’s End (2008)
The return of an old enemy leaves Earth along with 26 other planets stolen from their places. As the Doctor and Donna look for the whereabouts of Earth, former companions of the Doctor assemble a resistance against the new Dalek Empire. Starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor.

Jojo
July 14th, 2013 - 8:21pmIt is ideal putting ‘Genesis of the Daleks’ and ‘The Stolen Earth’/ ‘Journey’s End’ on this Davros DVD. I already have both stories, but will still buy this DVD. Elisabeth Sladen: ”Sarah Jane Smith, remember!”, Julian Bleach: ”You were there on Skaro, at the very beginning of my creation!”. If they had made this a 4 DVD set then ‘Genesis’, ‘Destiny’, ‘Revelation’ and ‘The Stolen Earth’/’Journey’s End’ would have been a good mixture, as it would have included all 4 Davros actors, Wisher, Gooderson, Molloy and Bleach.

July 14th, 2013 - 9:02pmMichael Wisher does the best Davros, although Terry Molloy and Julian Bleach are excellent too. Not that keen on David Gooderson.
josh smith
July 15th, 2013 - 6:45amdavis gooderson and terry moloy are the best
Michael Wisher was boring

Dalek The Supreme
July 15th, 2013 - 6:19pmMany people loved Michael Wisher’s Davros best, myself included, for his highly-intelligent-but-totally-insane performance. David Gooderson tried to give him a good performance, but Destiny is one of the least popular Dalek stories and Gooderson so obviously propelled the chair with his feet. I do agree about Terry Molloy being a brilliant Davros though, and even though The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End is my least favorite Dalek story, I did enjoy Julian Bleach’s performance.
josh smith
July 15th, 2013 - 9:22pmdestiny of the daleks if so much better than genesis.
Genesis was too long and should have only been 3 episdoes
Doctor Who Crazy Ross
July 13th, 2013 - 11:13amWHY NO REMEMBRANCE OF THE DALEKS?!?!
That story was the best.
josh smith
July 13th, 2013 - 11:55amits not very focused on davros though
Dalek The Supreme
July 13th, 2013 - 3:15pmRemembrance of the Dalek is a great Dalek story and my most favorite Classic, but Davros was only in it at the very end, and though the story did benefit from this, it means the story cannot be included because it isn’t focused on Davros.
MadDalekDude
July 13th, 2013 - 6:11pmNeither is Stolen Earth/Journey`s End, it`s all about the companions
Dalek The Supreme
July 14th, 2013 - 3:36amYes, but Davros gets a fair ammount of screen time. Besides, I’ve explained the reasoning behind including the first and most recent appearances of the titular monsters many times on all of these.
josh smith
July 14th, 2013 - 8:08amthere are no other davros new series episodes
pwilc1967
July 15th, 2013 - 5:25pmAll these dvds appear to have the first (complete) appearance of the monster plus (arguably)their last full adventure. The Silurians and Sontarans only get secondary or cameos. Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel is probably the best showcase for these monster in the new series. I feel again, they have become supporting players. Davros, The Daleks and The Master have not appeared (yet) since the adventures on the discs.
Dalek The Supreme
July 15th, 2013 - 6:21pmThe Next Doctor and Nightmare in Silver were both full Cyberman stories. I’ve said before and I’ll say again, that the reason for putting Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel is because of the popularity of David Tennant’s Doctor.
Dalek The Supreme
July 12th, 2013 - 8:04pmI KNEW those stories would be on the Davros set! Not sure if I’ll get this one as I really don’t like The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End, but Genesis of the Daleks is on it, so it gives me a reason to buy it.
Doctor Rules
July 21st, 2013 - 8:47pmThe Stolen Earth/ Journey’s End was brilliant! Proper Dalek action and pure evilness!
explosive cookie
July 24th, 2013 - 1:20pmI didn’t like The Stolen Earth/ Journey’s End. If you want proper Dalek action and pure evilness, go watch Remembrance of the Daleks!
josh smith
July 12th, 2013 - 6:42pmrevelation is far better choice for classic one
DOCTOR WHO ONE
July 12th, 2013 - 8:07pmSorry Josh, fraid I must disagree with you about that.
Don’t get me wrong thou, I really do like ‘Revelation of the Daleks’, but ‘Genesis of the Daleks’ is a thousand times better, plus let’s not forget it was voted No.1 by readers of Doctor Who Magazine back in 2006 – 2007.
Dalek The Supreme
July 12th, 2013 - 11:07pmIt’s down to personal preference, but the reason for including “Genesis” (Aside from it being a more widely popular story) is the same as “The Daleks” and “Asylum”, it gives the earliest and most recent stories featuring the titular monster of the box set.
The Greater Intelligence
July 13th, 2013 - 3:56amI personally only like three Davros stories, Genesis, Remembrance, and Journey’s. Destiny and Revelation I regard as the worst Dalek stories. Eric Saward was a good writer and hit a great mark with Earthshock, but he couldn’t write a Dalek stories to sav Eli’s life, in my opinion. I was dragging myself to finish Resurrection when I got the DVD (I got a migraine watching it) and Revelation was a bore that never had a shot. Remembrance only had Davros in it for about 3 minutes and it was better than his three previous occurrences.
Dalek the Supreme
July 13th, 2013 - 5:50amI like all of them except Destiny of the Daleks and The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End, though Resurrection and Revelation I felt were a bit of a disappointment.
josh smith
July 13th, 2013 - 8:21ami mean fr you have never seen a classic episdoe genesis is not focused on davros abd people wont understand what his happening. revlation is its own story and is focused of davros and is a far better choice
Dalek The Supreme
July 13th, 2013 - 3:17pmGenesis of the Daleks is focused on the Doctor’s ability to change time and make things right, and Davros’ descent into insanity as he creates the Daleks. It’s a clear story with great acting, great writing, and great production values. (for the Classic series)
Dalek The Supreme
July 13th, 2013 - 3:20pmRevelation is a good choice too, don’t get me wrong, Davros is incredibly dark and twisted, everyone but Peri has something dark about them, and it’s morbid atmosphere is well executed, but the Daleks are shoved to the background and the voices sound ridiculous and not even modulated. (Though kudos to Skelton and Mills for trying)
josh smith
July 14th, 2013 - 8:09amno revelation had one of the best dalek voices made them sound insane. peri was perfect in the story. ike every story she was in.
Doctor Who Crazy Ross
July 12th, 2013 - 5:31pmokay, thats it. I’m getting them all. The covers are brilliant, the contents are amazing, and I’m sure they’ll look great in my collection 🙂
Andrew
July 12th, 2013 - 4:16pmthats why Genesis isn’t on the Daleks, makes sense, although they should have includeda better one like Destiny or resurrection.
matparks08
July 13th, 2013 - 12:40amDestiny better than Genesis? Destiny is one of the worst episodes ever for me, but I love the fact we’re all different and have our personal faves 😉
josh smith
July 14th, 2013 - 8:10ami agree with destiny but resurrection is very boring. revelation is a good coice aswll
THE ENIGMATIC WATCHER
July 12th, 2013 - 4:10pmThat’s quite a cool cover. But I already have both stories so I’ll have to pass. Looks good though.
Doctor Who Crazy Ross
July 12th, 2013 - 4:01pmI’d have thought they might have got all of the Davros ones into a DVD boxset… maybe not.
Some bloke
July 12th, 2013 - 4:04pmit’s not a boxset
dave
July 12th, 2013 - 6:10pmthere already is a davros boxset, check on amazon. 🙂 otherwise you can buy them all individually for probably a cheaper price!
