It is ideal putting ‘Genesis of the Daleks’ and ‘The Stolen Earth’/ ‘Journey’s End’ on this Davros DVD. I already have both stories, but will still buy this DVD. Elisabeth Sladen: ”Sarah Jane Smith, remember!”, Julian Bleach: ”You were there on Skaro, at the very beginning of my creation!”. If they had made this a 4 DVD set then ‘Genesis’, ‘Destiny’, ‘Revelation’ and ‘The Stolen Earth’/’Journey’s End’ would have been a good mixture, as it would have included all 4 Davros actors, Wisher, Gooderson, Molloy and Bleach.

Michael Wisher does the best Davros, although Terry Molloy and Julian Bleach are excellent too. Not that keen on David Gooderson.

Many people loved Michael Wisher’s Davros best, myself included, for his highly-intelligent-but-totally-insane performance. David Gooderson tried to give him a good performance, but Destiny is one of the least popular Dalek stories and Gooderson so obviously propelled the chair with his feet. I do agree about Terry Molloy being a brilliant Davros though, and even though The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End is my least favorite Dalek story, I did enjoy Julian Bleach’s performance.

destiny of the daleks if so much better than genesis.

Genesis was too long and should have only been 3 episdoes

WHY NO REMEMBRANCE OF THE DALEKS?!?!

    That story was the best.

Remembrance of the Dalek is a great Dalek story and my most favorite Classic, but Davros was only in it at the very end, and though the story did benefit from this, it means the story cannot be included because it isn’t focused on Davros.

Neither is Stolen Earth/Journey`s End, it`s all about the companions

      July 14th, 2013 - 3:36am

Yes, but Davros gets a fair ammount of screen time. Besides, I’ve explained the reasoning behind including the first and most recent appearances of the titular monsters many times on all of these.

there are no other davros new series episodes

All these dvds appear to have the first (complete) appearance of the monster plus (arguably)their last full adventure. The Silurians and Sontarans only get secondary or cameos. Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel is probably the best showcase for these monster in the new series. I feel again, they have become supporting players. Davros, The Daleks and The Master have not appeared (yet) since the adventures on the discs.

      July 15th, 2013 - 6:21pm

The Next Doctor and Nightmare in Silver were both full Cyberman stories. I’ve said before and I’ll say again, that the reason for putting Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel is because of the popularity of David Tennant’s Doctor.

I KNEW those stories would be on the Davros set! Not sure if I’ll get this one as I really don’t like The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End, but Genesis of the Daleks is on it, so it gives me a reason to buy it.

Sorry Josh, fraid I must disagree with you about that.

Don’t get me wrong thou, I really do like ‘Revelation of the Daleks’, but ‘Genesis of the Daleks’ is a thousand times better, plus let’s not forget it was voted No.1 by readers of Doctor Who Magazine back in 2006 – 2007.

It’s down to personal preference, but the reason for including “Genesis” (Aside from it being a more widely popular story) is the same as “The Daleks” and “Asylum”, it gives the earliest and most recent stories featuring the titular monster of the box set.

      July 13th, 2013 - 3:56am

I personally only like three Davros stories, Genesis, Remembrance, and Journey’s. Destiny and Revelation I regard as the worst Dalek stories. Eric Saward was a good writer and hit a great mark with Earthshock, but he couldn’t write a Dalek stories to sav Eli’s life, in my opinion. I was dragging myself to finish Resurrection when I got the DVD (I got a migraine watching it) and Revelation was a bore that never had a shot. Remembrance only had Davros in it for about 3 minutes and it was better than his three previous occurrences.

      July 13th, 2013 - 5:50am

I like all of them except Destiny of the Daleks and The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End, though Resurrection and Revelation I felt were a bit of a disappointment.

      July 13th, 2013 - 8:21am

i mean fr you have never seen a classic episdoe genesis is not focused on davros abd people wont understand what his happening. revlation is its own story and is focused of davros and is a far better choice

    • Dalek The Supreme

      July 13th, 2013 - 3:17pm

Genesis of the Daleks is focused on the Doctor’s ability to change time and make things right, and Davros’ descent into insanity as he creates the Daleks. It’s a clear story with great acting, great writing, and great production values. (for the Classic series)

    • Dalek The Supreme

      July 13th, 2013 - 3:20pm

Revelation is a good choice too, don’t get me wrong, Davros is incredibly dark and twisted, everyone but Peri has something dark about them, and it’s morbid atmosphere is well executed, but the Daleks are shoved to the background and the voices sound ridiculous and not even modulated. (Though kudos to Skelton and Mills for trying)

    • josh smith

      July 14th, 2013 - 8:09am

no revelation had one of the best dalek voices made them sound insane. peri was perfect in the story. ike every story she was in.
