Does anyone know why there isn’t a steelbook edition? I would have bought it if there was, as I couldn’t get a cinema ticket.

My guess is because it’s probably a fairly low budget release. Single story New Who releases don’t seem to get steelbooks anyway, I imagine Twice Upon a Time and Revolution of the Daleks must stick out quite a bit for the collectors.

Definitely doesn’t feel as comprehensive as it could be. A second disc with the episodic versions could and should be included. The full length and cut down confidentials as well. Tardisodes deleted scenes and other bonus material that they already have in the archives. Still got to see the finished list but feels like a missed opportunity going by what we do know.

Saw online people have got twice upon a time steelbooks. Not sure if it’s a person or company which makes personalised steel book cases. Not sure why twice didn’t get one as it was on dvd, blu ray and 4K release. Maybe Gordon could enlighten us

That’s definetly not officially released ones as one never got released officially. Most certainly a custom or personalised made one

Yeah there not official steelbooks. People get them custom made then insert disc(s). Look fantastic though the twice version I saw. Also did some of the Jodie stories which didn’t get included on box sets.

Do you know why they didn’t do official versions?

Found them on my Facebooks saved things. They are called Masters Of Steel. So far I’ve seen they have done Twice Upon a Time and Revolution of the Daleks. Amazing looking. Pricing is around £40 but they do a 4 for 3 offer.

What’s the betting that they redub every mention of gravity as mavity in this? Exactly the sort of attention-seeking you’d expect from the handling of Doctor Who these days. Thought it was absolutely reprehensible to use the Master’s theme to declare the War Chief was the Master in War Games.

Not doing the cinema since I can’t trust them in this way anymore. Will prob go for the blu-ray if they haven’t corrupted it in that style.

This might be very naive on my part, but I’ve a positive feeling about this screening over the rest of the 2020’s Doctor Who output.

For one the fact the official branding is missing suggests a different system of people behind this movie edit, and not the ‘in colour’ Ben Cook team, and as Amypondfan has said, RTD and the RTD2 is most likely gone at this point.

Maybe this is even further reaching, but to include ‘Mavity’ would be like publicly keying the bodywork of the current ongoing tender process in scratches, because the initial tender paperwork itself stresses no recent or past heavy lore / references and to want to appeal to a new production to start from scratch with the core source material.

Am I the only Dr Who fan, who….
On the Very Same Day the 14th Doctor and Donna met Isaac Newton….
Had, earlier that day, watched Frontios….with Peter Davison’s immortal line…
‘Nothing that quite fits…the gravity of the situation…!’

Wouldn’t happen, Mavity occurs in the 14th doctors timeline onwards, it doesn’t retrospectively alter anything, thats not how the show works. We witness the change and 14s initial reaction when Donna says it later in the episode.

People seem to forget that the tardis travels in time and relative DIMENSIONS in space, traversing infinite alternative realities and anomalies, classic series said this many times and the most recent example is the flux, Donna and 14 crash into a different reality.

Why would they change it to mavity? It makes no sense to do so. It was a stupid joke that was taken too far. As a scientist it annoyed me as newton coined gravity from the Latin word gravitas, meaning weight, heaviness etc. It wasn’t a word he just made up it has a logical meaning and origin. To continue that joke for the entire remaining era was pointless. I did hear a theory that mavity was going to prove the Jodie’s doctor had slipped into another universe and the regeneration into Tennant and beyond would be explained away but frankly that sounds like fan wishful thinking. And I know it was just a joke but it’s still infuriating lol

Impossible Planet / Satan pit to this day has held up so well, from iconic Doctor Who designs, to the sets, the visual effects, the cast, the eerie music, Posessed Toby reaching with his hand out with that smile. Outstandingly beautiful camera work and editing.

I’d definitely want to see Human Nature / The Family of Blood as an extended movie cut, if they decide to make another movie version. Again another of the great pinnacles of New Who for all the same reasons.

Hmm, I made a post which seems to have not gotten through. Attempt 2, I like that this uses the era appropriate logo, so many releases use whatever the current logo is causing very inconsistent shelves. I kind of wish the Collection sets also did that or at the very least used a logo more associated with the Classic Series, however I appreciate that the branding has remained consistent instead of being updated to match the current style.

I get people like consistency but there has never really been consistency! I think i would like to see era appropriate logos but then that’s never happened. The classic era used multiple logos on the target books. The vhs releases started with one logo that then changed. Its only really the classic era dvd range that stuck with a single logo.

It really annoyed me when three quarters through the VHS releases they changed from the Jon/Tom logo to the McGann logo with wraparound cover art. It makes everything clash if you try to arrange them.in story order!!

The different spines never bothered me, my book shelves, doctor who and other books are a rainbow of colours. The different coloured target spines didn’t register with me as a kid and I carried that through to the vhs range.

I find it kind of cool that this release uses the Tennant era logo rather than the current one. It triggers my OCD how my steelbooks are a hodgepodge of branding but none from the era the stories are actually from. I’m also not fond of how the Collection sets are tied to the Whittaker era logo but at least they look consistent on a shelf.

I have a ticket to see this in cinema, but I’m more interested in the picture quality this will offer.

Going back to film rushes for deleted scenes would imply revisiting the original, raw camera tapes.

So I wonder if this has maybe been done in the recent style of the TV Movie wherby all the footage has been replaced by the best possible picture source (the og tapes) and any cgi no longer available has been spliced from the best possible broadcast quality master, upscaled, and masked onto the new tape transfer and blended to suit.

The theatrical showings will likely have a new surround sound mix, but hopefully this Blu-ray will now include the original broadcast stereo, just as the recent Fugitive Blu-ray has included broadcast stereo for Series 1’s ‘Dalek’, so no excuse not to.

So long as no AI slop is used in the above upscaling process, then I believe that’s going to be the best we will get for Series 1-4 of New Who.

This story has a special personal place for me hence I got a ticket, but appreciate if anyone’s on the fence.

Ultimately if this turns out as one of the best treated media pieces of Doctor Who since the TV Movie then, in an ideal world the dam will have finally burst on The Collection cutting corners with the AI and DNR slop they’ve been doing on the last handful of Blu-ray sets.

I mean the TV Movie was shot on 35mm film which can offer far higher quality than the videotape transfer the previous releases were based on. Series 2 was only ever shot in standard definition so even if they went back to the original rushes, at best we could only hope for a minor reduction in video artefacts.

I’m personally happy with the current New Who Blu-Rays and would only be interested in new ones if they had noteworthy new special features or alternate cuts of episodes like this one.

      October 2nd, 2026 - 8:07pm

@Bob I agree in that the 2023 boxset is a visual improvement on the previous dvds, but the authors behind the boxset admitted the severe generations of compression those broadcast masters suffer from was something they could not have avoided given the very short deadline they had of the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who for release date.

Also, only the very early singular ‘volume’ dvds of Series 1-4 included the original stereo broadcast audio. None of the Series 1-4 complete boxsets had this whatsoever. One of the most jarring examples is ‘Dalek’, as the dvd boxsets *only* offered the 5.1 surround mix, where some of Nicholas Brigg’s dialogue line takes were withdrawn and swapped with other takes, such as “Van Statten – you tortured me” is a completely different recorded piece of dialogue on the dvd boxsets and 2023 Blu-ray to the dialogue line as was heard on the original 2005 broadcast, which you could only acquire physically through the Series 1 Volume 2 dvd (until now, thanks to the recent Fugitive Blu-ray that finally includes that original stereo broadcast mix).

Same thing applies to ‘The Next Doctor’ Christmas Special. Not only is the 2023 Blu-ray an absolute pickle of a 5.1 surround mix, but also just about *every* physical media release of that special does not include the original broadcast audio mix (The choir singing as the Classic Doctors appear in the Info Stamp scene, when Jackson Lake whispers “It’s you” to the Tenth Doctor) –

      – Until now. Because lo and behold, Germany has just released a singular Blu-ray of ‘The Next Doctor’ that now includes the original broadcast audio! Funny how these original mixes are just randomly popping up 20 years later.

On your point about picture source quality of Series 1-4 – yes 2005-08 was recorded in standard definition tape, on a lossy video codec – but nevertheless – as I’ve said, the end broadcast masters were severe re-encodes of those original camera tapes, so less bitrate quality, more macro blocking, more frame blending mush, etcetera.

If you were to take those original raw tapes, use sophisticated non-AI-slop upscaling hardware and software (some software of which is free / just as powerful nowadays, like Hybrid NNEDI3) that can very nicely upscale the footage to 1080p while remaining absolutely faithful to the source – you would end up with a new HD master with the cleanest looking output of Series 1-4, especially if zero DNR is used, so all the lovely camcorder noise detail kept completely intact.

      October 3rd, 2026 - 7:13am

I imagine that this version would contain only the movie sound mix as the other sound mix is for the original broadcast version.

For all we know they may have whacked it through AI to improve picture quality. The original picture and CGI quality would not work well on the big screen but I imagine people going to see it are not going for those but rather a chance to see DW on the big screen again.

    • The Unlicensed Physician

      October 3rd, 2026 - 10:13am

Going back to the source tapes would be a lot of effort for minimal improvement, wouldn’t it? Unless they wanted to create a very different look. Improved deinterlacing would require AI assistance, rather than working purely mathematically, but you could just process the final master with an anti-aliasing algorithm to minimise the jaggies (something like the model the Astro-res guy made).

    • The Unlicensed Physician

      October 3rd, 2026 - 10:47am

Babelbro: Your second post hadn’t yet been approved when I added mine. I still don’t think the improvement on a home release would be significant though, not enough to make it worth the financial effort. They’d never leave the noise alone though, it just wouldn’t be acceptable today – even in 2005 sections of episode three were slated on a technical level by people in the engineering department, and that was SD through a broadcast chain.

    • Babelbro

      October 3rd, 2026 - 3:36pm

      @The Unlicensed Physician + NickD:

You do not need to use AI to make a new decent master encode of the original tape footage. For deinterlacing we already have QTGMC on a free public domain level that restoration artists actively working with clients have been using for years, along with NEDDI3 upscaling through free software such as Hybrid. You can virtually do all of this with a budget gaming pc at home, without the need let alone excessive cost and computing power of AI (the latter of which would be unacceptable and a waste of funds towards this movie edit project, imo.)

I get we’re talking about a movie cinema presentation screening here but, on the assumption that the original tapes have been revisited given the sourcing of unused scenes missing from the existing broadcast masters – that serves a golden opportunity to finally get all the original recording digitized in the best possible format, without AI, without DNR.

I’m in two minds as to if we will see results of the above in this movie edit – but again, in an ideal world if this were tackled along the same lines as the recent TV Movie, while avoiding all of the slop experiments of the Collection range, then it’ll be a first step in the right direction for media preservation for Doctor Who moving forwards.

    • The Unlicensed Physician

      October 3rd, 2026 - 10:29pm

It depends on what you want to do because the methods you’ve mentioned still leave jaggies or a softer image when sharp diagonal edges are involved, sometimes with ringing, so you might as well stick with the existing masters and save time and money. I’ve not seen any real improvements since we used to play around back in the day, thinking we could all do the deinterlacing better than what we were getting. (You could if you liked a softer picture, which wasn’t a surprising result.)

We’ll have to disagree on this one, because remapping edges is, to me, one of the ways AI processing can be very helpful. I’ve even seen it remove analogue ringing quite well on old telecine transfers.

    • Babelbro

      October 4th, 2026 - 1:21am

      @The Unlicensed Physician

When you say that “Jaggies cannot be removed with the methods you’ve mentioned”

      Here’s a demonstration proving Hybrid can do exactly that – remove jaggies;

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4STqyERKfM

It is what it is. No Ai, no DNR. Just a free, open source, straightforward process of software upscaling and deinterlacing camcorder footage to be best possible quality it’ll ever be.

    • The Unlicensed Physician

      October 4th, 2026 - 3:13pm

Ironically the guy in the video seems quite fond of AI – he seems far too trusting of ChatGPT.

Seriously though, I’m wondering if we have different ideas on what counts as AI because I’m seeing it in that video. Perhaps you’re only counting products like Topaz? The reducing of halos and remapping of the edges and diagonals is exactly what I’m talking about, because it’s using training and intelligence rather than pure maths to create the new images during the upscaling (it’s not part of his initial deinterlacing process, which is essentially same as 20 years back – complete with not quite perfect temporal adjustment).

    October 2nd, 2026 - 6:13pm

Ah really don’t know what to think about this one it’s a head scratcher for me for an extra few minutes and just both episodes grouped into one feature length movie version with extra unseen footage. I might just wait to see what others think of this first. Then again they will probably release it with another Series 2 box set at some stage in the future. No Steelbook for this one so again a potentially for Re-issued Series 2 with this included.

Yeah I would have rather had the 2 part season finale edited into 1 but clearly whatever algorithms the fanbase is feeding the bbc suggests this is what the MAJORITY wants.

Its to celebrate 20 years of Tennant and piper, nothing to do with season 2 rerelease, thats just deliberately pessimistic.

They’re going out of their way to not make it look new and shiny, so I don’t think they’re looking at younger people as their main target. The fact they’re bothering with a simultaneous DVD suggests they’re expecting the other end of the age range to be a key chunk of the buyers.

Extended cuts always seem to appeal to a decent sized audience, even if they’re weaker than the original version, and the almost excessive alternative edits on the Collection range show that Who fans really respond to them – even the times they’re really just glorified fan edits. Anderson Entertainment have made a success of releasing single episodes in overpriced 4K Steelbook editions, and since 4K would be overkill here the Beeb are doing the next best thing at a friendlier price point. They know their market – this one isn’t for everyone who watches Who, but what is? Some people are happy to just watch the episodes once when they go out, others need to own every bit of footage, and some people like to own a few favourites – and this one gets the fans in two out of the three groups.

(If it turns out that the original director properly supervised this then I’ll buy it myself.)

That is the funny thing about extended cuts/directors cuts unlicensed phys isn’t it. They do tend to be weaker than the originals. There are only a few I really like. Alien 3 is a good version. Alien 3 is definetly part of directors/extended cuts that work better. That’s definitely my default when I watch it. It doesn’t fix all the problems (newt and hicks issue is still there) but it’s far superior.

If we are talking about directors cuts Other films where I feel the director’s/extended cut is best

      Blade runner (Final Cut)
      Kingdom of heaven
Das Boot (tv version though the extended cut is great)
      Aliens
      T2: judgement day
      The wicker man
      Apocalypse now (final)
      Lotr
      Superman 2 (donner cut)
      Metropolis (148 min version)
Once upon a time in America
Legend (not great film but superior cut was extended one)
The abyss (not a huge fan myself of it but the extended cut is better)
Bvs (director’s cut is better of the 2 experiences)
      Justice league
      Waterworld
Watchmen (directors cut is my preference but I get why the ultimate cut is seen as the cut to watch. Too long but it’s closest to the graphic novel)

Not all extended cuts are as as definitive

      Donnie darko (really bogged down)
Amadeus (the new scenes don’t add anything and bogs it down)
Sin city (really doesn’t work in chronigical order)
Good bad the ugly (179/180 mins cuts not bad just doesn’t add much)
      The warriors
      Star Wars
      The exorcist
Both Rebel moon films (neither theatrical or directors versions are good)
      ET
Gladiator (extended scenes don’t add much)
Battle royale (directors cut adds unessesary subplots)

This is by no means a definitive list but it does show that extended versions can be either a good or bad thing

Alien3 was definitely worth it – I quite liked the original release (one of the few!) but the version they made closer to the rough cut was excellent. That edit was done for all the right reasons, by people who cared about the material. You should try it, War Chief – the 6 Blu-ray Alien Anthology set (the green box) is a great buy all-round and secondhand you can get it for about eight quid delivered.

As for the Alien “Director’s Cut”, I’ve read that Fox were going to remaster the rough cut until Scott asked them not to – he was happier with the actual released version. So they let him put together the re-release edit as a half-way compromise on condition it could be called the “Director’s Cut”. Straight talking Scott then said in every interview that the 1979 edit was the actual DC, and the version he was promoting was only called that for marketing purposes… It’s a curio, but I’m not surprised it hasn’t become the preferred version. Probably like most of the Who Collection alternatives.

I felt with the alien director’s cut the cocoon scene was misplaced. It should have been before Ripley sets the self destruct not in the middle of it. She has such limited time to escape that the scene just doesn’t make sense there to me. I think it’s meant to be there (it’s been sometime since I read the novel so can’t remember where it occurs in the book) but I was glad after seeing the new version it had been cut from the original. Alien (1979) is still my preferred watch but the extended versions of the others are my go to’s for those. Love alien 3. I liked the original but the new version is great, it makes some good choices especially the alternate Ripley ending, the one thing I wasn’t keen on in the original was the moment she falls and the queen is born, it just felt silly to me! The new version has a much more subtle ending for me.

Bookcollector, the cocoon scene is in the original book…
What’s wrong with the alien queen being born then…? Ripley did feel ‘it move’ just beforehand…and it might have been a kinder end for her than plunging into molten lead…!
      Remakes that annoy me…
Das Boot…all my favourite scenes are cut…! Na na na…don’t touch the stuff if you can’t handle it…
Apocalypse Now….what the hell was that half hour French bit all about….??
      Godfather III or Coda….removed my favourite bit…’such bread….such olive oil….solo in Scicily….!’

I know the cocoon scene is in the book, just couldn’t remember when. I’ve looked and it occurs in the book before she sets the self destruct not after like in the movie.

She’s maybe thinking, at least the day can’t get any worse….
I also read the Alien book before seeing the film, and at first was disappointed the cocoon scene wasn’t in it…
But now…I don’t know…maybe some things are better imagined than seen…

Bookcollector: Ah, so that makes two of us! It was clear that Fincher had talent, but that behind the scenes mess could have finished him – presumably the makers of Seven also saw the good in the film. I agree with you on the cocoon scene in Alien too – stopping for a natter when time’s running out is not clever… and mucks up the pacing of the film. I’m sure Scott talks about that on the disc extras, but I feel he was almost forced to include that scene in the re-edit because of the near-legendary status it had acquired. (It’s a bit like the Jabba stuff in the first Star Wars.) I’m wondering now if the book deliberately shifted the cocoon scene to fix the plotting?

To bring it back to Who, I think the alternative versions of the classic series show that not everything was cut for time and that not everything that looks like padding actually was. Season 26 certainly benefits from the longer edits though, and I’m wondering if The Satan Pit might benefit in the same way as those.

Nice to see some new merch, and that old logo is a stunner. I see there’s more extras hinted at on the Amazon listing, the two original episodes at the very least surely? Bit surprised there’s no steelbook though, that would have been an instant pre-order for me. Looking forward to seeing it in the cinema anyway, and I’ll decide then if it’s worth having on the shelf.

NickD: You like a garibaldi I presume? I’m not sure even a malted milk would fit in a Steelbook(tm), and I can’t test it myself because I won’t buy them (steels, not malted milk).

rich: Not for the target market. Aside from it being contemporary to the story, it’s reminding people of their childhoods and/or the new series’ peak. You can see it working its magic even in the comments on this page.

Interesting to see a home media release that doesn’t have the current logo on it. I wonder if they’ll be more lax on that sort of thing going forward?

Since there isn’t really a “current” logo, what with RTD2 being done and dusted, it makes sense to use a logo that evokes nostalgia and harks back to the peak era of New Who if they can. The only issue I can see is that, from a branding perspective, it’s probably not clever to have too many different logos on the go. This is a promising sign that the management are loosening up though.

I’ll be really happy if they use the McGann logo on anything going forward, I really miss seeing that logo on new Doctor Who things.

Mmm, the tweaked version they ended up using on classic-related stuff would keep me happy too. I’d also like separate logos for 20th and 21st century Who again, although I’m not sure if they’d go that way since it’s all effectively archive material now.

I don’t envy whoever has to make that decision every time a Doctor Who merch item releases outside of the RTD2 logo contract moving forward. There’s far too much to choose from and any singular choice will upset the majority of the fandom no matter what, so it makes sense to just keep changing it to suit the specific product.

It’s kind of been that way anyway; while the dvd range is seen as the most consistent of Doctor Who logo branding, the actual dvd spines use a different font to the McGann logo, and then you have all different special edition sleeve spines that *did* use the McGann font, so the two visuals didn’t ever match in the first place.

There’s also plenty of Classic Who merch from the late 2000’s, well into the New Who era, that even went back to the 1980’s logo (I myself own a 2006/07 Doctor Who mug with the 80’s logo printed on with Cybermen, K9, etc).

At this stage, and with how long the shows’ gone on for, for me I just wouldn’t know if it were even possible to settle on one logo, let alone for a tv show that ‘regenerates’ it’s branding, while actively borrowing other branding from it’s own past for side merch.

It’s probably the 2023 remasters as a starting point but they were going through the rushes for this and the whole series (for the 20 years of Tennant stuff) it may have given the opportunity to give it another go

Fantastic. Lucky as my local had sold out of tickets. Would they do anymore of these stories into movie style editions? Army of Ghosts and Doomsday, the End of Time, maybe even the 3 parter Utopia/Sound of Drums/Last of the Timelords. Would really like The End of Time.

Keep checking as they may add extra screens or move to larger ones (mine did the latter) What extra there is of army/doomsday I doubt there is enough to justify an extended edit. It’s one short scene that doesn’t really add to anything. Maybe utopia as I think that has a couple of scenes I think. End of time only has 2 scenes in part 1 as far as I know and don’t really need it

    • bookcollector

      October 2nd, 2026 - 1:36pm

I think as a one off project this is good but not sure we really need more. I wouldn’t the drums or end of time as I didn’t like them, some others might be possible but once you drop into single episodes I doubt it would be worth the money spent on adding in the deleted scenes, altering soundtracks etc versus the sales figures a single episode would get. And as Gordon says, there aren’t really that many deleted scenes from some stories. Plus I imagine a single episode release would garner rather a lot of negative comments from certain sections of random. For me it would depend entirely on the story. If its one I like I would consider getting it, if its one I’m not keen on I would leave it.

For me, if they have extra footage then Human Nature/Family of Blood would work well. However I think this might just be a test as it has the Ood, Devil, Tennant and Piper. So a well thought of story, with a dark element of horror.

    • bookcollector

      October 2nd, 2026 - 4:40pm

I have to say thinking about it, there are very few others i would be interested in. Maybe some of the matt Smith era, perhaps magicians apprentice if there was much in the way of deleted stuff. If they did more it would be on a release by release situation for me, I certainly wouldn’t be buying them all. This is the only David Tennant story I’m interested in an extended format so it would also have to feature a different doctor.

I do know there is a substancial amount deleted from The Hungry Earth, which hasn’t even made it onto deleted scenes on dvd. That’d work quit well as a movie edit of a 2 parter

    • bookcollector

      October 2nd, 2026 - 7:18pm

I’d love a hungry earth movie version with deleted footage. I made the decision after war games in colour I wasn’t going to get anymore colourised who unless it was full story with no mucking about as I was unimpressed by war games and found daleks a complete travesty lol. There is potential for extended releases and if more are done great, but I will have to pick and choose on purchases. Especially considering the increases in energy costs coming January, that could have significant consequences in terms of prices for merchandise.

I thought The Sound of Drums was brilliant….John Simm utterly chilling as the Master….
Captain Jack back in the show…
I thought David Tennant was excellent….
Slightly less impressed with The End of Time….but loved Timothy Dalton as Rassilon….

I got bitten with the New Series bug rather late, Bookcollector….
I was too used to Classic Dr Who….but eventually I was a big David Tennant fan…I loved the rumpled suit, long coat and trainers….
I’d never seen John Simm in anything else before he was the Master….
But from his first sardonic smile and humorous quip, I was thrilled to the bone….
RTD had made quite a few terrible casting choices…the Eastenders woman as the Rani…but the JS Master was wonderfully new, evil…and fun…!
To this impressionable 39 year old anyway…

      October 2nd, 2026 - 10:07pm

I’ve watched new who from the start, enjoyed it in general. In all honesty I’m just not keen on David Tennant as an actor, not sure why but there it is. Doesn’t mean I think others shouldn’t like him. My partner doesn’t like him either but then she also doesn’t like both of Russell’s eras whereas I didn’t mind his original run so much, just little bits of his writing that didn’t appeal. Interestingly we both love the classic era but she doesn’t think the Davison stories were well written and I feel that way about Colin’s era. Although we both like Peter and Colin as the doctor. We both like jodie but she didn’t like Russell’s return right from the start. I didn’t like John simm’s master for the same reasons I wasn’t keen on sacha dahwan’s version. Too mad, too scenery eating if you understand the term. I wanted a controlled, calm, evil master like delgado. I liked missy because the madness was controlled in her version. I felt the other new master’s were just too over the top.

    • War Chief.

      October 2nd, 2026 - 10:19pm

Even Delgado, rest in peace, was not above munching a bit of scenery, bookcollector….
I loved the 5th and 6th Doctors….they were ‘my era’ as it were….
But I have a highly susceptible mind (like Kamelion..!) and, right up until Steven Moffat and Matt Smith, I was one of the biggest fans of the New Series…

If they did a Matt Smith movie edit, maybe a Series 5 one, I’d be up for going to the cinema to see that, cause I’m particularly nostalgic for the early Smith era.

Alas, my interest somewhat waned with Matt Smith, but I was such a big Peter Capaldi fan (Local Hero and all that) that I was very excited when he became the Doctor….
And for his first series anyway, he was brilliant in the role…cold, aloof, alien…exactly the right way to play it..
