Doctor Who The Lost TV Episodes Collection Three Audio CD

Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk

Six narrated TV soundtrack adventures starring William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton as the First and Second Doctors – plus bonus features.

Absent from the TV archives, these stories survive in their entirety only as soundtrack recordings. Now remastered, with additional linking narration, you can enjoy them again: plus bonus interviews with Anneke Wills, and the BBC Radio 3 programme Dance of the Daleks.

In The Smugglers, the travellers have an adventure in 17th Century Cornwall with pirates and hidden treasure; in The Tenth Planet Earth’s twin planet enters the solar system and brings with it the Cybermen; in The Power of the Daleks a new Doctor must fight the Daleks on the swamp planet Vulcan; in The Highlanders the TARDIS arrives in Scotland after the battle of Culloden; in The Underwater Menace it lands above the long-lost city of Atlantis; in The Moonbase a weather control station is in the grip of plague – caused by the Cybermen.

In the bonus feature Dance of the Daleks, Matthew Sweet investigates the weird and wonderful sound world of Doctor Who.

So, I reckon the fourth release will feature ‘The Macra Terror’ , ‘The Faceless Ones’, ‘The Evil of the Daleks’, ‘The Abominable Snowmen’ and ‘The Ice Warriors’ plus bonus interview disc. That would make it a 12 disc set. The fifth release will likely feature ‘The Web of Fear’, ‘Fury from the Deep’, ‘The Wheel in Space’, ‘The Invasion’ and ‘The Space Pirates’ plus bonus interview disc. Which would also make it a 12 disc set like the rest of the collection.

I’m wondering why it takes so long from announcement to actual release on these? They’re essentially the same discs as before, just in much cheaper packaging and no booklets. 6 months seems a bit excessive.

Anyway, I picked up the previous releases, so I’ll be grabbing this one too.

They did these with the 2010-2012 sets. Have a set schedule. Collection 1 was March 2019. Collection 2 was August 2019 (used to be September) so the next year be Collection 3 March 2020. Collection 4 August 2020. Which Mean the new Collection 5 (with no Enemy) will be March 2021.

Ah thanks TigerMan! I wondered why they were taking so long on these. Didn’t realise they had a set schedule for them. 😀

Wish I’d picked up the original boxsets tbh, but glad to see them being re-released anyway, instead of paying silly scalper prices.

I’ve been lucky, I got Collection 1, and 3-5 for under 100 bucks! Collection 5 I actually got for 25 bucks on a bid…I got so lucky.

I can see them keeping enemy still in the box tbh. even though its out on DVD they still included it on the last re-release along with web of fear. plus you know more money for the beeb.

They’re not exactly the same as the originals. The artwork is regraded, the logos have changed and sometimes the art on the actual discs has been moved around.

MJS, sorry, I should have been more specific there. I wasn’t really talking about the artwork/logo, I meant the contents of the discs is the same. I don’t think they’ve added any new content have they? I didn’t pick up the original boxsets, so not 100% sure on that. I just thought 6 months from announcement seemed a long time, but now realise they’re on a set schedule. I hope they keep Enemy in the release, the same as the originals. I’d still like to still have it in the boxset if possible.

TigerMan, yeah after seeing all the scalper prices you definitely did well. I couldn’t buy them at the time they were released, as I was going through some serious financial difficulties at the time, and had to stop buying anything non-essential. Even some of the classic DVDs (of which I’d bought all previous ones on release day) I had to put on hold for a while (my god, that was tough to stop myself from buying them!). On the plus side, when I got my situation sorted out, all the ones I’d missed were cheap to buy! 😀 Unfortunately, those CDs had gone out of print though.

Are these stacked up in one or individual plastic cd cases?
