January 25th, 2020 - 4:23amThe North American release will be 5 Discs which means either they’re cutting content or cramming content onto 1 disc for Battlefield & The Curse of Fenric. Frankly, I don’t want either, just give us the 7 discs.
Gordon
January 25th, 2020 - 10:26amIt will probably be the later. I can see that being quite compressed though
TrixieTiger1995
January 25th, 2020 - 3:44pmIt’s possible to have all three cuts without compression.
Gordon
January 25th, 2020 - 9:50pmBut in the case of battlefield there is also well over 4 hours of special features on top of that. The studio footage alone is 2 hours 45 mins on its ownWe’re talking 8 and a half to 9 hours of footage in total . That’s going to take up a lot of space
TrixieTiger1995
January 29th, 2020 - 1:02pmOkay, I & Amazon were wrong. The set is 7 discs like the UK set.

January 13th, 2020 - 2:28amOnly 2 weeks to go. Feels like it’s the set I’ve waited the longest for. Been itching to rewatch fenric since this was announced. Mostly wanting to see the Chris chapman’s JNT documentary and Pete McTighe’s curse of fenric making of

January 13th, 2020 - 10:38amSame! Feels like a long time coming, and with the whispers of seasons 14 and 20 I’m eager to continue the collection. I’ve watched the trailer for this set to keep me going. Also the rumour of season 2 as a potential release is interesting… I know it wouldn’t be too hard to achieve but it’s not a season a thought we’d see just yet.

January 11th, 2020 - 9:39amAny updates on upcoming blu ray sets?
(When do you think any black and white season will be released?)
SamWho
January 11th, 2020 - 10:33amThere should be an announcement very soon looks like season 14 and it’s likely a black and white season will come out later this year or early next year
Anonymous
January 11th, 2020 - 10:36amI’m thinking a black and white set might be announced as they used to announce the next set about a month before releasing one so this might be an indicator that the next one is a big season thats taking some time
Gordon
January 11th, 2020 - 10:43am14 is coming in March according to an in store listing in Hmv but I doubt it will actually be out in March. 20 is coming in the summer according to someone who worked on 1 of the extras. A rerelease of 12 is happening and is rumoured for may/June time. Season 2 is rumoured. If there is enough time for 4 releases (2 will be a massive job) another pertwee seems the most obvious choice and 11 is the most likely as excluding ep 1 of dinos its all existing in its original 525 line masters
Type 40
January 11th, 2020 - 11:56amThere’s a listing for Season 14 (Tom Baker Season Three) on Blu-ray.com (as I type this).
Anonymous
January 11th, 2020 - 12:11pmHoneslty can’t wait for season 2. Finally the bbc will stop doing everything else and finish the crusade.
Bobby Fackrell
January 11th, 2020 - 12:50pm14 looks like it’s being released March 23rd.
12 re-release in June looks like so the rumoured series 20 I think will be September with 2 (but I still hope that’s wrong and it is 6) in December
I am guessing 17 and 11 for 2021.
I think it will only be three this year with the delay of 26 and the re-release of 12
Gordon
January 11th, 2020 - 12:53pmCrusade will most likely be telesnaps. Animation is just too expensive at present for it. There is the same amount of characters/costume and sets as galaxy 4/evil/abominable combined. It’s probably the most trickiest story that isn’t Marco Polo or masterplan. It’s going to take more than a year to do which is more time than bbc studios is willing to give them (it has to be produced and released within 12 months). Not going to say it’s never going to happen but it’s unlikely in the next 5 or so years while there is cheaper and faster stories that can be animated first
Gordon
January 11th, 2020 - 1:32pmI think they could have season 12 out in may/Juneish time and 20 out in July/August. The work for 12 is all done so it doesn’t need to take up a slot of work. Its finding a space in the schedule to release it. All the restoration work and extras are done. Its manufacturing more boxes is all that needs to get done. It’s not going to take 6 months to do season 20 so I think July/August time. The problem with season 6 is space pirates doesn’t have telesnaps and with them working on Troughton animations it’s a story that could get animated in the next 2-3 years unlike crusade which will be unlikely in the ranges lifespan. Troughton already has 2 animations so a way to balance it out is having a hartnell season out on blu ray.
For 2021 11 for pertwee the TV movie/wilderness years 17 for tom 24 for McCoy (save 25 for 2023)
Bobby Fackrell
January 11th, 2020 - 2:23pmI think there will be riots if 24 comes out before 25 🙂
Gawd knows what will happen with Space Pirates they will probably just do an audio.
Troughton is getting a couple of animations this year but it’s his centenary and he is the best Doctor!
I would just love 6 to come out and Evil of the Daleks to be animated but don’t get me wrong I shall happily take 2, that would be an amazing release, be nice if the other two episodes of the Crusade turned up in the meantime
Anonymous
January 11th, 2020 - 3:12pmWith the two teams on the go, they are going to be through Troughton’s era fairly quickly.
Personal prediction: The Wheel in Space early 2021, The Abominable Snowmen late 2021 (order based on what the two teams have said they are interested in doing), which allows a “complete” Season 5 (minus Web 3 of course sadly) in 2022. With Season 1 taking the 60th anniversary spot in 2023, the entire Troughton era will be done by the time they have to pick something for 2024, so Season 6 is safe. Then Season 4 and whatever is left of Season 3 to finish of the range.
Gordon
January 11th, 2020 - 5:15pmMy predictions for the next couple of years
Early 2021: evil
Late: abominable/ web 3
Early 2022: wheel
Late: space pirates
Early 2023: underwater menace
Late: highlanders (leaving the trickiest Troughton till last)
Worth noting that the choices of animations aren’t influenced by the collection releases.

January 25th, 2020 - 12:07pmI just hope that the missing stories are fully represented on the box sets.
dazzleshell
January 25th, 2020 - 5:00pmMe too. I want at least a soundrack.
And if they don’t do separate discs if a story is missing, I still want a disc tray per missing story so that if they are ever found or an animation is done after the release of a season set we can just slot a new disc in.
Xavier Downey
January 2nd, 2020 - 8:54pmWill the release of season 20 include The Five Doctors?
Anonymous
January 3rd, 2020 - 9:35amI would imagine they will do the same for season 20 with the Five Doctors as they did with putting K9 and Company on Season 18, have it on a special disc at the end

January 11th, 2020 - 3:53pmSo what are they going to call season 2 release do you think? The almost complete season 2 or the not quite complete season 2? As for the five Doctors, is David Bradley going to magically replace Richard Hurndall in the production?
Gordon
January 11th, 2020 - 5:03pmDoctor who: the collection season 2. Pretty much the same as every other season. Doubt they would ever replace hurndall. The blu ray budget would never stretch to it for starters

Kevin225
December 23rd, 2019 - 5:59pmPoint taken Martin – but it still isn’t a great record and not something that the producers of these sets should be proud of. This is ironic as when the product does eventually arrive they are generally excellent.

December 17th, 2019 - 12:28amTV Movie (done properly for blu ray) needs a home. So presumably they will do some kind of wilderness years just to hang that on?
Plenty of potential material, as many people have already pointed out on here.

December 12th, 2019 - 12:41amInterestingly the Doctor Who Facebook just out a birthday post dedicated to Sarah Sutton which featured a shot from arc of infinity with new CGI effects. Maybe I’m reading too much into this but perhaps season 20 is well and truly on its way.
The Flying Shark
December 12th, 2019 - 7:48amSeason 20 is DEFINATELY on its way, Peter Davison said at a convention apparently he, Janet and Sarah went back to Amsterdam for it, presumably a now and then feature. How soon is another matter but I think next year, season 14 is probably next up, then 20, perhaps 11 for Pertwee and then a black and white, I think 6 but if there’s too much Troughton content out next year, they could go for 2 (which would be easier as only two parts of The Crusade are missing which can be reconstructed with telensnaps, as opposed to five episodes of The Space Pirates which have none).
Gordon
December 12th, 2019 - 3:27pmThe new cgi isn’t new. It was on the ark of infinity dvd. Season 20 is on its way. They were filmed at timelash v in Germany for an extra. It’s said to be a road trip documentary

December 16th, 2019 - 2:04pmIt’s worth repeating that they’ve been banking a lot of extras. Just because something has been filmed doesn’t mean its coming immediately.

November 15th, 2019 - 2:20pmGood move imo! The Dec 23rd date was a silly date to release it in the first place. I doubt anyone ordering from anywhere other than Amazon would have got their orders on time due to the christmas post anyway.

It would have caused annoyance with some getting them on time and others having to wait until after Christmas. At least this way everyone should get them around the same time.

November 11th, 2019 - 6:52pmYes i think we all knew 23rd December was unlikely but it’s a shame if it’s delayed by nearly a month and it’s better they take there time and make sure it’s the best it can be

November 11th, 2019 - 11:15pmIt’s disappointing but that initial release date was always going to be problematic (in order to get to people for Christmas). Perhaps they should press the S12 re-release early to fill the delay gap. 😉

November 12th, 2019 - 6:31amVery disappointing, but let’s be honest we were all expecting this. Really glad that this wasn’t going to be purchased as a December present! October 20th, 2019 - 11:43pmIt’s still on his Instagram story. It’s only short but he said how hes not looking forward to doing season 4 because not everyone will be happy. Also hes currently working on the next 3 sets artwork and last bits of season 26.

October 10th, 2019 - 10:00pmThe vhs versions are extended episodes. The special editions are feature length movie versions of the episodes
MIKK89
October 10th, 2019 - 10:32pmIf i remember correctly having owned both stories on both VHS and DVD at one point in time, the VHS episodes were released as a sort of extended edit akin to what they Did with Season 23 only deleted/alternate scenes added. The DVD versions of both had had standard transmission versions of the two serials on DVD 1 and DVD 2 featured a feature-length extended version that included more deleted and alternate scenes, swapped some stuff round to help narrative flow more fluidly and new visual effects and music. Plus optional 5.1 Surround Sound. Hope this helps.

October 12th, 2019 - 1:04amCan’t entirly remember with ‘Battlefield’ as the length of the extended episodes was similar to the feature-length DVD version and only seemed to rearrange scenes and add new CGI. But ‘The Curse of Fenric’ included scenes not in either Original Transmitted Version or VHS Extended as well as CGI. It was done to Director Nicholas Mallets original plan to Release COF 1993 on VHS (akin to The VHS release of ‘The Five Doctors: Special Edition’) however due to certain problems that never really surfaced never came to fruition, and then Nicholas Mallet Passed in 1997. The Feature Length COF was re-edited was overseen by Mark Ayres using his and Nocholas’s Notes…

October 20th, 2019 - 8:07pmI’d love it if they did “special edition” titles for them like with Terror of the Vervoids.

October 7th, 2019 - 7:38pmAny update on the discovery of some missing episodes by Paul Vanezis?

October 7th, 2019 - 9:18pmNo.

September 29th, 2019 - 1:28amDo you think its likely well see “Dimensions in time”, “death comes to time” web animation and
“more than 30 years in the tardis doc” in this set somewhere ?
Seems like the best places to put them or 30years doc on silver nemesis/season 25. One thing I’d say to Russell minton is yes new documentaries are nice but give us some stuff that never got released too.
Gordon
September 29th, 2019 - 10:25amDimension in times is unlikely to be cleared. Tons of red tape plus the rights holders are asking an extortionate amount to use the footage. Death comes to time and more than 30 years will most likely appear on a potential wilderness years set
David
September 29th, 2019 - 11:56amThey are unlikely to be on this set – certainly “Dimensions in Time” is very unlikely to be released at all, given the contracts in place and cost of clearing the material through “Children in Need”. There has been speculation that there might be a “Wilderness Years” collection including the TV Movie, “More Than 30 Years in the TARDIS” and other material such as the “Doctor Forever” documentaries which appeared on some of the later Special Edition DVD releases.

October 5th, 2019 - 1:20pmGonna have to disagree with you Gordon, I reckon season 24 will be time and the Rani and season 25 will be silver nemesis

September 25th, 2019 - 6:48amWould Season 8 possibly be saved for the last of the Pertwee seasons? I was wondering because it is packed full of 3’s most famous story’s.
The Flying Shark
September 25th, 2019 - 8:06amPerhaps 7 will be saved for last as the seven parters have very poor colour quality apparently and will need a lot of work, plus it will be tricky to make new extras as the main cast have all passed on. Season 8 has some colour issues too so that will probably be second to last-either 9 or 11 for Pertwee will be next, I bet 11 as Sarah Jane will be a big selling point to new who fans, plus it’s been demanded for a long time to get new CGI on Invasion of the Dinosaurs.
The 14th doctor
September 25th, 2019 - 10:59amSeason 11 would be fantastic!!!!!!
So if the rumours are correct then we should be getting: season 14, season 6 ( hopefully), season 21 and season 11!!!
We are in for a good year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

September 25th, 2019 - 2:02pmSeason 9 next for Pertwee as they’ve been to the location for the sea devils.
The 14th doctor
September 25th, 2019 - 5:39pmEven better!!!
Pete X
September 25th, 2019 - 9:27pmI reckon that season 8 will be released in 2023 (the 60th anniversary year) as well as seasons 1, 16 and 20.

September 22nd, 2019 - 12:13pmhas anybody heard any other rumours about other classic blue ray boxset like season 26?
Gordon
September 22nd, 2019 - 4:05pm14 is rumoured for February. Anything beyond that is guesswork
I do guess we will get a 60s set. 2 or 6 is my guess. 2 is most ready but with it being Troughton’s 100th birthday 6 has a small possibility
We should be due another Davison so either 20/21
Another pertwee will probably happen as well. Either
Gordon
September 22nd, 2019 - 4:32pmEither 9 or 11 for pertwee

September 22nd, 2019 - 4:51pmThere’s rumours that Season 14 is next, but there’s also rumours that Season 6 is coming for Patrick Troughton’s 100th birthday which would have to be next to actually meet the date in March.
Gordon
September 22nd, 2019 - 7:49pmIt doesn’t need to come out on his birthday to be part of his 100th birthday celebration. That can still come out in the same year. I fully expect the faceless ones to be released on his 100th birthday so I don’t think it needs to have season 6 come out exactly on his birthday
