April 21st, 2021 - 6:52pmWill this boxset have disc errors corrected like the out of sync audio for the Castrovalva trailers and continuity announcements ?
SilentNinjaZero
April 29th, 2021 - 1:13amIt’s possible they could but it’s more likely they will simply repress the original discs, it would save them effort. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Gordon
April 29th, 2021 - 2:34amIt’s just a repress so no fixing outside of what was already done for the disc replacements
Ian Cotterill
May 3rd, 2021 - 12:10amThe corrected audio sync version of the Castrovalva continuity announcements are available on the Season 18 boxset if that helps.

March 28th, 2021 - 12:44amMy concern is the look of the limited ones now. They said they would be “Doctor Who: The Collection: Season X: Limited Edition Packaging” I hope it won’t say that last bit on the front, that would be ugly as.
Gordon
April 5th, 2021 - 7:11amIt won’t. It’s just for advertising the listings on websites
Duff
March 27th, 2021 - 5:55pmIs it absolutely confirmed that these will not be limited release? Because if they re-release in sets of two, I’m not sure I could buy future seasons at the same time.
Coleman
March 28th, 2021 - 6:19pmYou’ll be ok Duff,
They’ll be in the shops for years and years like the Dr Who DVDs are.
You’ll be able to purchase them at your own leisure.
It’s only if it says Limited Edition that it will have a short run.

April 2nd, 2021 - 3:52pmI am surprised that they are nearly by as expensive as the limited editions! Surely being a standard edition, they should be substantially cheaper?

April 4th, 2021 - 7:31pmHello Stuart,
Whether it’s limited Edition or standard Edition, it’s still virtually the same set, so I wouldn’t expect a big difference in price.
Auton
April 4th, 2021 - 11:03pmThe amount of love and care put into everyone one of these sets, for around £40, whether it’s limited or standard edition, it is well worth your money for the stories alone and that’s not including the 100s of new and existing special features
Ryan
April 6th, 2021 - 7:50pmPlus, limited editions will most likely increase in value. standard editions have a tendency to decrease in value after a few years so could always wait to buy them if/when they decrease?
Bobby Fackrell
April 8th, 2021 - 9:10am38 quid for an entire series from the 1980s which has painstakingly restored with the best possible methods, looking and sounding better than you will ever see it, loaded with very professionally shot, beautiful and well written documentaries with other fun extras too this all on a budget is an absolute bargain.
No one is getting rich from these box sets they do it because they love Doctor Who, simple as that, no other show I can think of gets this level of detail and care when being produced for DVDs and Blu Rays
Dizzy Zygon
March 27th, 2021 - 10:35amCan someone please go over the difference and what is the same?
Gordon
March 27th, 2021 - 11:12amSame discs just more basic packaging and a smaller booklet. It’s also non limited
Dizzy Zygon
March 27th, 2021 - 12:04pmOh ok thanks. I am a bit sad that this has a smaller booklet but it is wonderful they are non-limited.

March 26th, 2021 - 10:20pmEbay prices have come down dramatically on this season since the announcemment and there seems to be a lot desperate to sell to get an half decent price but they seem to be well below £100. Compared to last week when the cheapest on auction were selling for £180+. I bet there are a few kicking themselves now. There was one bloke who coughed up just over £200. Season 18 is dropping the same as well as 10.
Haza14
March 26th, 2021 - 11:52pmIt’s amazing how the prices can fluctuate! With these Collection sets and so many other things, you don’t know if the prices are genuine, or inflated due to scalpers or fake bidders bidding on what they think are scalper sellers. It becomes a bit of a nightmare for everyone! Just supply and demand to a degree I guess! With hindsight I wish I’d sold my original Season 12 copy for £300+! But I wasn’t sure if they’d ever re-release it so I didn’t! It’s not worth anything like that much now!
daz
March 27th, 2021 - 1:13pmI originally bought Season 12 for £270. Traded it in at CEX for cash when they announced the 2nd edition but bought 2 copies just to make sure I broke even on my original overspend as still had to sell one slightly higher than RRP
I even sold the misprinted discs.
I do like the care they have taken with the standard versions to still get a slip case and smaller booklet.
But will be sticking with the limited versions as I like the larger artwork, Tardis interior and the booklets.
I just wish we got a thick plastic slip cover like Series 1 and 2 got originally to protect them more.

March 27th, 2021 - 6:38pmThats always been my main beef with the limited Edition sets. The fragility. Now i can get these how i wanted them from the start.
Ian Cotterill
March 26th, 2021 - 8:38pmWill this edition have previous discs errors corrected, like the out of sync audio for the ‘Continuities and Trailers’ on the ‘Castrovalva’ disc?

April 2nd, 2021 - 9:58ammight be worth sending an email to the bbc to find out ?

March 26th, 2021 - 4:46pmPeople saying they going to sell their limited versions to buy the standard versions. Cex is currently giving £56 for season 10. I only paid £35.09 for mine so be quids in. Other sets though are lower then original purchase price
Gordon
March 27th, 2021 - 11:13amI’m certainly not
Bushboy
March 25th, 2021 - 9:32pmNot really sure what my next move should be now.
I am in New Zealand and have all the Australian versions of the sets that have been released so far. Season 12 and Season 19 were released in identical packaging to the UK versions but form season 18 onwards they have been repackaged in a kind ok digi book inside a slipcase with most of the same artwork as the UK sets. Which, after initially being annoyed at the change, I now quite like except for the fact that that the first two don’t match!
Should I continue with the Australian limited edition sets and be done with it? Or assuming standard editions are eventually released in Australia too, start over and get a fully matching set which would also save on a lot of space?
Infinite
May 17th, 2021 - 7:38amI’m going through the exact same dilemma!
Timelord 1944
March 25th, 2021 - 4:33pmIt was announced today that the production of these sets will be ongoing and not limited in any way. Good news.

March 26th, 2021 - 3:41pmDo you have a source for that? I’d like to take a look – I did a quick scan of twitter but it wasn’t obvious. Thanks!

March 25th, 2021 - 3:19pmThis makes me think Season 24 has been delayed until Autumn as I think that’s when these could’ve been released. Season 24 August/September and the next season February 2022
Gordon
March 25th, 2021 - 5:12pmNo. Mark Ayers said on the radio free skaro that they are planning on having another set after 24 before the year is out Covid permitting
Gordon
March 25th, 2021 - 7:10pmI can’t see that being mentioned on an officially licensed doctor who publication if there wasn’t some sort of official truth behind it

March 25th, 2021 - 11:13amI imagine the only difference between these and the US sets will be clear plastic for the blu ray cases, a la Fury from the Deep, to comply with new regulations. But have to say, I’m sold. Though I have s19 from the US already, in future all of my collection purchases will be in this standard format. You’re paying £8 less for more durable packaging which will better protect your discs from the elements while taking up less space on your shelf. It’s a no brainer as far as I’m concerned.
BritishFilmGeek
March 25th, 2021 - 3:32pmClear plastic case? As in fully clear or transparent blue? Haven’t bought any Blu-rays recently except the steelbooks.
RPG74
March 25th, 2021 - 4:17pmAs in fully transparent rather than the grey colour of the Main Range. This began with the Fury from the Deep release and I imagine will continue with the further animated releases. It seems logical that the standard Blu Ray collections would also use the same material, but I could be wrong.
BritishFilmGeek
March 25th, 2021 - 5:02pmi thought that was just DVDs that have gone from grey/silver to clear. Blu-rays are still in the blue cases are they not?
RPG74
March 25th, 2021 - 6:07pmSeems you’re right. Blu-ray cases are unaffected, at least for now. Crossed wires here somewhere, but it wasn’t the point of my post anyway. I’m happy I’ll be able to buy these in standard packaging, whatever colour they might be!.
BritishFilmGeek
March 25th, 2021 - 7:26pmOh for Sure! i’m overjoyed at standard packaging. i thought i was out of the loop on that aspect was all haha
Anonymous
March 31st, 2021 - 6:13pmNo, The Power of the Daleks: Special Edition was the first DVD to have a clear plastic case.
Timelord 1944
March 25th, 2021 - 9:39amI will continue to buy the limited edition sets with the same enthusiasm but without all the stress and worry because if I fail to get hold of one at least I have the standard releases to fall back on. I have spoken to people who have avoided buying the sets altogether because of the stress of trying to find a copy of certain seasons and also because of the expense. They have said they will now start collecting them. Can only be a good thing.
Bobby Dylan Fackrell
March 25th, 2021 - 7:54amIs anyone else tempted even though they have limited ones already? :-O
philip Shaw
March 25th, 2021 - 9:06amI think as a fan any new release gives you a twinge of wanting! I got the blu ray of Timelord victorious, it had all the stories out already most if not all on the blu ray sets, but did I need it? Well the cover was very nice…lol I’m personally sticking with the limited versions as the OCD in me will not tolerate a set with different box sets in it!
Auton
March 25th, 2021 - 7:42amDo you think they have fixed the Castrovalva trails and continuity announcements out of sync audio for this release or are they keeping the fixed version only on the season 18 boxset?
Anonymous
March 25th, 2021 - 8:14pmThat’s exactly what I want to know . Hopefully will find out soon .
Ian Cotterill
March 25th, 2021 - 6:37amI’m really pleased about this finally getting a re-release, as Season 19 was the only one of the Collection sets that I’ve failed to get. My only regret is that the new packaging most likely won’t match the other seasons I have, which are in their Limited Edition boxes.
Philip Shaw
March 25th, 2021 - 7:04amPerhaps some may buy this and sell their limited version on Ebay and may be cheaper now due to the re release.

March 24th, 2021 - 3:12pmgood news for me i was waiting for this .limited edition usually means more expensive and harder to get hold of .the more they make the easier the get and the less expensive they might be down the road (hopefully) i have already bought all of dr who on vhs and dvd. besides with a bit of luck there will be less of the printing mistakes in the booklets and on the discs i ve heard about .now i ve got to buy a blu ray player
Gordon
March 24th, 2021 - 2:30pmI’m happy about this for those that want them. I’m a bit surprised it’s this early as I thought it would be a couple of years down the line. I love the deluxe packaging and own all 8 sets with season 24 also coming as well so I’m a third way through the classic era. Seems very little point in me starting again with the standard packaging.
Hi
March 24th, 2021 - 1:57pmWill these be region free
Gordon
March 24th, 2021 - 2:12pmThink the discs are a straight repress so I’d imagine so
Jamie
March 24th, 2021 - 1:53pmExcellent decision. End the artificial scarcity, the demand has been proven to be there. Might actually get them now.
Anonymous
March 24th, 2021 - 1:33pmThink I will stop collecting the limited editions now as part of the fun with limited editions, in any range or product is the “limited” part and the “value” . It does feel like bbc have got what they want out of collectors and now they are looking for another audience. Bit greedy
Cosmicjellybaby5269
March 24th, 2021 - 1:28pmI think I actually prefer these ones over the limited edition ones.
MJS
March 24th, 2021 - 2:07pmAgreed. But I’ve started so I’ll finish…..
Cosmicjellybaby5269
March 24th, 2021 - 3:15pmYeah same lol
Chris Howarth
March 25th, 2021 - 11:20amThey do look very nice. I’d have been very happy if they’d started out this way, but I’m very fond of the LEs. These are admittedly more sturdy though.
Nick
March 24th, 2021 - 12:58pmGreat news!!! Why couldn’t they have done this in the first place and stopped all the panic and the scalping on Ebay!! Hopefully this will now make it easier for everyone to buy these sets. Great news indeed!!
Gordon
March 24th, 2021 - 1:38pmBecause it might have cannablised the range 3 years ago. Also the range is now established enough that those that have been buying all the sets are less inclined to stop buying the limited edition sets. Thirdly they hadn’t decided 3 years ago
Nick
March 25th, 2021 - 8:47amActually the question was rhetorical, but thanks for the reply. I think it is debatable. Just looked at the huge prices for the Season 7 boxset which has just been released — thinking about those poor souls who had their orders cancelled, or Dr Who fans who did not have the funds to afford a boxset straightaway. Then forced into a situation: either missing out or having to spend exorbitant prices. I think we need to think of all Dr Who fans. Yes the limited editions are undeniably beautifully produced, and those who genuinely wanted a set and managed to obtain a set, at the initial price, are very fortunate. And they will most likely continue to collect them if they are able to. But 3 years is a long time to expect people to wait to get the standard release if they missed out first time round. I wonder if these new ‘standard’ releases would have happened sooner, but given the current situation I can understand a delay. Either way it is good news for anyone who wants to have these seasons on Blu Ray. Season 12 and 19 look fabulous. I hope those who missed out on the other boxsets do not have to wait so long to fill in the gaps or buy their favourite season/s.
Nick
March 25th, 2021 - 8:49amOops meant season 8…season 7 would be nice as well!!
Haza14
March 27th, 2021 - 12:00amIf you ignore the buy it now prices on EBay the season 8 sets are actually going at quite reasonable prices. Over the last few days I’ve seen at least 2 sets go for around £45. Bizarrely one set also went for £82 hours earlier which I don’t understand at all! But it certainly doesn’t seem as crazy as Season 18 was last year luckily. It’s a horrible situation to have your order cancelled on a thing like this! It happened to me with Season 18 and getting hold of one at a reasonable price was very stressful! This time round it doesn’t seem too bad! Hope everyone that wants one can find one for a reasonable price!
Doctor Mysterio
March 24th, 2021 - 12:57pmThe problem with the limited editions is that there is no new ‘jumping in’ point for releases already sold out, so this might temps others to get on board.
Anonymous
March 24th, 2021 - 12:57pmSo will values drop considerably for the current releases
?DoctorWhat?
March 24th, 2021 - 12:52pmAre these limited edition, or are they going to continue to produce them for a few years?
booboo
March 24th, 2021 - 12:55pmnothing in the press release says they are limited

March 24th, 2021 - 3:51pmGood to know, Thanks!
Bobby Davros
March 24th, 2021 - 12:46pm2 weeks after I bought the even barer US version for a similar sum. Fortune vomits on my duvet yet again.
MJS
March 24th, 2021 - 12:26pmInteresting the booklet will be halved to only 12 pages. I wonder what will be left out.
Good for those that all missed out on these.
Gordon
March 24th, 2021 - 1:44pmProbably it’s just the disc contents that survive
Anonymous
March 24th, 2021 - 12:21pmQuite a risky move to do so early. May put people off buying future limited edition releases if they are going to pump these out early along with the seasons limited release. Unless they are waiting a couple years between limited and standard
Anonymous
March 24th, 2021 - 12:17pmGreat for those who have missed out on these sets. I will still be sticking with collecting the limited edition version of these sets.
