I think realistically, it’s too late in the day now to expect to see any missing episodes recovered in restorable condition, unless they are stored in ideal conditions which is a bit of a utopia.

Nothing would please me more, but time (!) is not on our side..

B/W safety film is usually quite hard to ruin, you need to be really unlucky or really careless with it. Anything with private collectors is likely to be ok, unless it was ever projected by an idiot or someone who hadn’t spotted a projector fault.

I was meant to say since the episodes were found in 2013 not 2023.

Just thought I would share this with you guys. But I doubt very much this is true. The was a video posted on YouTube that apparently the number of episodes that have been found have been leaked double figures according to the guy on YouTube that would complete several stories more than 15 have been found 1 of the find is sourced to be from if not all of the following episodes The Myth Makers, The Smugglers, and The Macra Terror, along with odd episodes such as part 4 of The Tenth Planet that would be 4 complete stories, then also rumoured to be in this find is The Wheel In Space Episodes 4, and 5. Again I would like all this to be true or where this guy got this information from. Am like nah this would be a dream if any of this is true. What do you guys think I’m sure some of you would like it to be true. But I won’t believe or build my hopes up not until there is an official announcement on any of this. I would suggest at this moment in time this is another hoax.

Am not absolutely sure Gordon but I can’t find it now it was there the other day but I think it’s just a hoax just to get viewing figures. There is a lot of fake news on YouTube if it’s not someone on there this famous person has passed away which turns out not to be true and than it’s Doctor Who speculation on missing episodes which has been going on since the find in 2023. We all know that Film is Fabulous is the waiting announcement of what has been believed to be found. I think what we have to accept that all of the 97 will never be found not unless the people who worked at the BBC at the time of the junking they didn’t do there job properly and took the film cans themselves that has always baffled me is how did these missing episodes get into the hands of private collectors they must have either worked at the BBC or some studio at the time which is good for us as they wouldn’t be turning up 60 years later.

Hi Gordon I’ve found it again on YouTube the video is called Doctor Who: Exciting news on weeks film is Fabulous William Hartnell Patrick Troughton rumours posted by The Sense Sphere The Doctor Who Podcast. it’s all mentioned of the leak in the video. But there has been no announcement so it can’t be true. I would like it to be it would be the biggest find in history. But I have my doubts check it out for yourselves guys see what you all think.

Oh sense phere. Posted utter speculation nonsense as facts for clicks as per usual. Tim from the missing episodes podcast said it best when he listened to it:” I made the mistake of telling them they’re broadcasting nonsense. This of course will be used as content.”

      November 22nd, 2025 - 6:45pm

I am aware of the video, it has absolutely nothing to do with Film is Fabulous, this was someone who reported on missing episode rumours back in the 80s. Needless to say there may have been a lot of people making things up, bragging about having things they didn’t have or worst case scenario they had it but no longer do.

Just a clickbaiter taking advantage of the current news cycle to push other things.

I’ve just watched the faceless ones again. The full colour version as I like the continuity of style over all the episodes (and the fact that the sets look a bit better than could be managed in a tiny studio!)
I enjoyed it and yes it’s not the best story, the ending is daft, but it’s fun. One surprise was it’s now 5 years old. The other thing is one I’d forgotten about. I think there is a big finish spinoff in this. The story of how the autons took over Gatwick airports police department! Honestly every single policeman is the same one! It’s rather amusing. Oh, and I watched this in tribute to Pauline Collins what a companion Samantha Briggs could have been…

I suspect there will be no announcement on season 21, animation or more importantly missing episodes, until the new year. I haven’t made up my mind about The War Between the land and the sea. When all the episodes are available I will probably watch it. I

@gordon is not The Tardis due to arrive as part of the UNIT agent promotion for the sea devil spin off

With that starting on a Sunday 7th

    • Gordon

      November 22nd, 2025 - 10:33am

Yeah it’s probably tied into that. Thinking on it most of the promotion until Christmas will be focused on war between. I don’t really see much space for an animation announcement so they “might” leave it till next year.

    • Prof Horner

      November 22nd, 2025 - 11:45am

My thoughts exactly Gordon. Nothing until the New Year on anything classic Who. Do you think Film is fabulous jumped the gun on saying they would be announcement on missing episodes within weeks?

    • Bookcollector

      November 22nd, 2025 - 11:59am

Prof, when they said that it probably was within weeks then sadly, the collector died throwing plans out the window. So not jumping the gun really just at the mercy of the unknown

    • Prof Horner

      November 22nd, 2025 - 3:40pm

As I understand it Bookcollector , they were talking about multiple collectors with multiple missing episodes. The poor chap who passed away had one identified episode maybe more. There several YouTube videos on the subject of what may have been found. It’s fun to speculate. But nobody really knows what has been found.

      November 22nd, 2025 - 5:30pm

“Collectors plural with episodes plural”. It is important to note though that they aren’t archivists, of course as part of their operations they provide contacts to archives but just because they know someone has missing material doesn’t mean anything is coming back in and of itself. The collection with one episode of Who is likely the announcement they spoke of in DWM (the long delsys of print media causjng havok there). The news wasn’t quite as positive as they were initially hoping but that an episode is in the process of being recovered is the best position we’ve been in since 2013 even if we may be waiting until 2026 or 2027 to actually see it.

We’ll soon be down to 96, that’s reason to celebrate, but we need to be patient for anything specific.

      November 23rd, 2025 - 1:57am

“It’s fun to speculate” – on the other hand, ‘Remember The Omnirumour!’ That did Who fans no favours, and the numpties responsible for spreading it seemed to get away with it scot-free (including those who absolutely knew it had to be nonsense because it just wasn’t factually possible).

    • Prof Horner

      November 23rd, 2025 - 8:48am

So you think that Film is Fabulous are making it up Rex F? It would destroy their reputation. The Omnirumour was all down to Phil Morris and his silly comments . If he had just said I am hopeful of more. Film is Fabulous have already found some wonderful stuff and I sure missing episodes will announced in the near future. It is fun to speculate .

    • Rex F

      November 23rd, 2025 - 11:07am

Film is Fabulous aren’t making things up, but certain characters are taking what they say and deliberately twisting and misrepresenting it for their own ends. It goes way beyond a bit of speculation just for fun.

Still filming to be done for 21 as strickson is due to fly in imminently if he hasn’t already.

The next animation was always planned to be started after getting a new deal so I doubt it’s far enough on.

I could be wrong but I doubt there will be anything dvd or blu ray related for the simple fact it’s a Sunday. The only time we have ever had a Sunday animation reveal was fury and that was because it was timed for a convention and hyped up In advance. Sunday is also the quietest day of the week for retailers and for news and retailers generally don’t put up preorders on a Sunday

Chris Chapman has said he’s interviewed Timothy Combe (Director of Silurians and Mind of Evil) for blu-ray collection documentary. I’m guessing it can be for one of three things, a Keys of Marinus making of, a Season 1 overview or a possible looking for Julia Smith

@ Prof… No gossip and no hints.

There were only a couple of collectors asking the Film in Fabulous team attending the Blackpool Film Collectors Convention about missing Doctor Who. So nothing new to what we know already.

Personally, I had a nice conversation about the restoration of Doctor Who and Blakes Seven with Paul Vanezis. But most of the detailed content I can’t share here. Hope you understand. However, he did hint that the next Doctor Who The Collection set and Blakes Seven Season 3 will look the best yet!

Great to hear B7 S3 is coming along, and the next DW Collection set is strongly rumoured to be S21 so I guess the source material is maybe better or easier to work with potentially
