Doctor Who The Chimes of Midnight Special Edition (sold out)

This special edition novelisation sold out in a matter of hours after they were made available for pre-order.

A standard edition is available to order from www.amazon.co.uk

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house not a creature was stirring…

But something must be stirring. Something hidden in the shadows. Something which kills the servants of an old Edwardian mansion in the most brutal and macabre manner possible. Exactly on the chiming of the hour, every hour, as the grandfather clock ticks on towards midnight.

Trapped and afraid, the Doctor and his companion, Charley, are forced to play detective to murders with no motive, where even the victims don’t stay dead. Time is running out.

And time itself might well be the killer…

Decided to cancel both my Orders for these BIG FINISH Novels over this debacle.

Incredibly frustrating that it’s such a low print run and most people outside the UK would likely have missed out because of the timing of it being announced. I don’t understand Big Finish’s strategies sometimes. Another example was the Once and Future series – sold out of the special editions by the time I had the money… so I didn’t bother. You’d think they’d want more sales?

I missed out because I was queueing at Record Store Day for The Tenth Planet on Saturday morning.
I have never seen a Saturday BF new posting before. I hope they do a 2nd edition hardback 500 run.

I quite agree; what is the point of sending out an advertisement for a product just to find out it’s sold out already when the link is clicked on. Very disappointed Big Finish… Hopefully as the books in this format and covers have proved so popular, that further copies will be on offer? Or perhaps even print on demand?

I’m another who got the message after it had sold out. I was told by Big Finish that their system waits until there are so many before sending out an ad. Or something. I don’t understand it. You’d think after their last IT disaster they’d have more sense.

I’m a bit concerned by the big finish blurb on the announcement for this. Especially the “radical rethink” of the stories. I can’t say I was impressed by Shearman’s dalek novelisation so I might wait for a paperback of these.

These are being released by BBC books later in the year.

I know they are, these are just exclusive versions that will be released at the same time (these aren’t out but are preorders) but I’d rather wait for the paperbacks if they do them. Like I say I wasn’t impressed by Shearman’s take on his dalek script so I don’t know that I’ll enjoy these and £22 each is too steep these days for books I’m unsure of

I had an app notification about it, within a couple hours I went to purchase both only to find that both had sold out. It would be nice if Big Finish could release another wave with prior warning this time

I got an email about this book the day after it had sold out. Pretty pointless sending it really.

Well you can see why this Special Edition sold out – Have you seen what a crap cover is on the Standard Edition?
