I don’t suppose anyone is willing to reveal the offer code? Not the one for the free download, but the one for the discount offers?

Still waiting for my copy to arrive two days after publication. Does anyone else seem to have copies regularly not turn up? This would be the second this year following the one published in January not turning up either.

You really shouldn’t have to email about not getting every other issue.

Whofan44, I think that’s the next regular issue (577) of the magazine as advertised on the inside back cover of 576. The next Special (Special #60) is out on April 21st and mentioned (very quietly) in the ‘Coming Soon section. To me me’s question, I haven’t heard anything about what it’s theme is going to be yet.

Just read about the doctor who Cushing films getting the 4K treatment and will be released in sets containing the 4k and Blu-Rays discs and a steelbook. Missed the zavi steelbooks so I’m gonna jump on this when I can

Can anyone tell me, is this issue’s balance more in favour of Chib/Whit or just Pre-Chib get good coverage as well. No time really with Chib/Whit as disagree strongly in his tampering with continuity and Whit’s poor man’s impression of Tennant. Just not as talented.

Thank you, so now I know, won’t purchase. Bet editors are pleased that the Chib era soon to be finished as sales have slumped. They managed to hold on’ just.

    • April 1st, 2022 - 4:38pm

The usual cant of the miserable. Sales for the magazine, for all magazines are down. And there are many people who love Jodie, even though you refuse to accept that. Its comments like yours that make me ashamed to be a who fan.

Can you explain the lack of BBC books based on Jodie’s era?

    • Auton

      April 3rd, 2022 - 1:37pm

…, people can have their own opinions on certain doctors, for me Jodie hasn’t been a very good doctor due to the poor writing and acting from many in her era including her. But others can think differently if they wish

      April 3rd, 2022 - 5:15pm

YEAH… Because its not like last months wasn’t heavily dedicated to 40 Years of Peter Davison’s 5th Doctor, or lots of issues between series/specials broadcasting focus on different eras and years due to either a release of the collection, a anniversary or ‘lost interviews’ focusing on the classic era, RTD1 era and the MOFF era… Jodie and Chibs have been given priority this month because a new story is being broadcast.
Wether you like it or not, BBC will still advertise it with any publication (DWM, Radio Times, SFX, etc.)

I agree with you, Auton, but I’ve also seen a lot of aggressive, xenophobic and misogynistic reactions to her era. I think her era has brought in a LOT of new fans too. If it weren’t for Jodie, my girlfriend and I wouldn’t have marathoned through Nu Who (including spin-offs), then Classic Who from the very first episode to early Tom Baker (so far!). She’s a complete convert and her favourite Doctor is Patrick Troughton.

Love the ‘Doctor Who Discovers’ extra! Very nicely done and a gorgeous new cover from Jeff Cummins, one of the very best illustrators to work on ‘Who’.

Magazine itself seems to have changed paper quality, maybe to cut costs. It’s not quite as glossy as it was but still looks ok.

My copy has arrived – there’s an A4 card included with the cover as per store copies (and above) with all the writing on, which is a good idea – the clean cover is a great photo of a sea devil! Love it!

I remember going to a Convention in late 80s/early 90s and the unpublished works from the Discovers series were sold at auction.Im guessing most of the Pirates Book had been put together and I think the cover and a few pagesof Doctor Who Discovers Miners were sold.Anyone know of any others that got beyond the title?

When the comic strip was stopped in order to cut costs people complained then too. In order to keep to a similar standard of product costs are only going one way. If you can afford the one off expense once a year subscriptions are the best way to buy!

I don’t buy the magazine now but I do get the occasional special one. I’ll buy this for the pirates book as it will be a nice curio to have. As fans we have to expect prices to rise across all merchandise. Costs are rising across the board and will have to passed on to the consumer. I’ll pay a tenner for this as I want the book.

Hi Lewis. Subscribers do get the goodies (at no extra cost, too) but recently they have tended to not include the printed outer poly bag – they didn’t at Christmas for example- so you’ll probably get the mag ‘loose’ with the sea devil cover, and the book and poster, but not the outer bag you see here that’s got the picture of Jodie on.

Normal issue. Doctor who discovers pirates was originally planned for release in 1978 but was cancelled. This may be a recreation of that book. Hope so as I’ll definitely buy this issue if it is.

    • BigBen64

      March 28th, 2022 - 2:51pm

It’s an issue like DWM 550 (an issue with loads of freebies that subscribers will get and that won’t be in WHSmiths for 2 seconds before it vanishes)…

    • TheMagister

      March 28th, 2022 - 3:19pm

Its £9.99 so deluxe issue with ‘free extra stuff’ that is included in the price.

Wh smiths now hide drwho magazine with kids comics away from tv and entertainment which is why theres tons of magazines left each month as mor many people can find it.

    • Gareth Pugh

      March 28th, 2022 - 6:30pm

So, it’s £9.99 rather than the (now) usual £6.99 and it comes in a sealed poly bag, but it is not a ‘second’ format that you can choose to get or choose to just buy the magazine without the extras for the normal price (like the pre-Covid era ‘deluxe’ editions they did in a tie-up with WHSmith). It’s just the one edition available for £9.99. So it’s not ‘Deluxe’ in that sense, but it does come with extras and it is the same price as the optional 2018/2019 ‘Deluxe’ copies were. Hope that helps! NB subscribers do get the goodies but recently they have tended not to receive the printed outer poly bag.

    • James

      March 28th, 2022 - 6:56pm

BigBen64 depends on the store and who processes the magazine delivery. If regular news person will be in correct section (film/tv). If someone covering goes anywhere. Saying that used to say in scanners which area to display. So maybe a head office/scanning error if in wrong section.
All magazines going up in price. Due to less people buying mags because of cash issues plus more and more people reading mags online. The people who buy mags are paying the price for those who don’t.
Shame they don’t do subscription coupons like newspapers so still get from shops. Keep the towns and shops with footfall
