Shopping trip to Aberdeen today, first in quite a while, the Doctor Who stock (between 2pm and 4pm) was as follows.

    WH Smiths (Union Street):
    1x DWM571 (Skaak cover)
    1x DWM Chronicles Issue 3 – 1983
    2x DWM Chronicles Issue 2 – 1975

    WH Smiths (Bon Accord Centre):
    2x DWM571 (1x Skaak cover, 1x Azure cover)
    2x DWM Chronicles Issue 3 – 1983

    B&M Kittybrewster:
8x Big Chief Dalek Invasion Mini Bobble Set (on the bottom shelf but in the same general area in toy aisle that the Doctor Who stuff usually is)
No figure packs from the past wave available anymore.

I was really surprised to see the 1975 Chronicles issue and picked up a copy myself (this was a 3rd copy, the two mentioned above were still there after my purchase)!

Have to say, a bit disappointed with the “Weeping Angel” subscriber cover. Would have preferred some kind of amalgamation of the other 3 covers. But then my cynical side sees it as a Panini ploy to get us to fork out more money for one or more of the other covers! Think I’m going to be reviewing several of my magazine and “collections” subscriptions in the New Year…

Agreed. I was under the impression subscribers would get one of the three released, without the writing as per usual. Disappointing cover as you say, both the actual Weeping Angel and the pose. I would have much preferred any of the other three covers, my favourite is the Sontaran. It is clearly a ploy to try to make people buy multiple copies for each cover, they’ve done it before, but I think even then they kept the main cover or variant of it as the subs cover, not having subscribed until early last year, not 100% sure of that, but each advert in the mag for subscribing would show the main cover and the same cover for subs without writing. Feel a bit short changed looking at the three main covers now. At least it arrived on time though!

An easy choice with the Sontaran. I must admit the new monsters right back to Jodie’s debut have been mostly rather lacklustre. Although I loved the designs from Demons of the Punjab story.

    What a choice!
    Creepy skeleton Man
    Creepy skeleton Woman
    War loving Baked Potato
Only Doctgor Who could give us these covers which is why I love doctor who!

I’m getting the Potato man one!

Just guessing, but I wonder if all three Villains will be on the Subscriber Edition.

Don’t subscribers just get a random cover sent to them?

Thanks Anonymous. With their being three different covers I thought they might do something different for the Subscribers.

Might indulge this month with fact of fiction being planet of fire. I know its not a big fan favourite but it was one of the first stories i recorded when we got our first vhs recorder back in the eighties. I have a soft spot for the story and i love the music and lanzarote locations.

It’s a very underated story, in my opinion. Not the best ever, but deserving of more credit.

It has its fair share of faults like most classics 76 totterslane but it has some fine cliffhangers and it gives us the beautiy that is peri brown. My favourite classic companion.

I’m guessing it’ll be a random cover – but without text.
