Hi Coleman. Just recieved my Azure cover this morning from Panini. Really impressed with the packaging. It came in an outer cardboard cover and the magazine was then put in a do not bend photograph envelope, so it arrives in perfect condition. Just read the Rochenda Sandall interview which was great for us Azure fans and looking forward to reading the rest. Hope you manage to get a copy ok.

I guess yours wasn’t a subscriber copy. Mine arrived today with a subscriber Weeping Angel cover (I wanted Azure, or Swarm) in a thin plastic sleeve that offered little protection for its fortnight-long journey; there was a tear at the top of the cover and several pages following. Alas!

Glad you’ve managed to get the Azure cover Jay. I’ve had no luck finding it in the shops so I’ll have to order from Panini.
Sorry about the late reply, I’d forgot all about this post ever since it went off the front page.

Hi Coleman, Sorry that you are still unable to find the Azure cover. I can’t believe how difficult it has been to find the other covers. Don’t think I have ever had trouble like this is finding all the other DWM’s that have had alternative covers over the years. Glad I managed to get one from ordering direct. I found the postage on mine a bit slow, took just over a week to arrive from Panini, so just warning you that it isn’t that quick, but was worth it to get Azure.

Sorry Jason Z about your experience. No mine wasn’t the subscriber copy. This was the first time I have ordered direct from Panini. I usually get mine in the shops.

Shopping trip to Aberdeen today, first in quite a while, the Doctor Who stock (between 2pm and 4pm) was as follows.

    WH Smiths (Union Street):
    1x DWM571 (Skaak cover)
    1x DWM Chronicles Issue 3 – 1983
    2x DWM Chronicles Issue 2 – 1975

    WH Smiths (Bon Accord Centre):
    2x DWM571 (1x Skaak cover, 1x Azure cover)
    2x DWM Chronicles Issue 3 – 1983

    B&M Kittybrewster:
8x Big Chief Dalek Invasion Mini Bobble Set (on the bottom shelf but in the same general area in toy aisle that the Doctor Who stuff usually is)
No figure packs from the past wave available anymore.

I was really surprised to see the 1975 Chronicles issue and picked up a copy myself (this was a 3rd copy, the two mentioned above were still there after my purchase)!

Wow Tim, that’s the first time I’ve seen anyone report they’ve seen the Azure cover in the wild.
Unfortunately non round here, so I’ll have to order from Panini.

Hi Coleman. Yep, I’ve noticed quite a few people are looking for Azure but not having any look so I thought I’d post, mainly for that, to let people know they are out there so fingers crossed people can find the one they want, or just order online.

I was very surprised to find the 1975 chronicles though, glad I picked that up!

No luck with the Azure cover today. Like everyone else just the Swarm cover. I think there might be distribution issues with the other two, Swarm was cover one so I suspect the others will follow in the next week or so, so I’m holding out for the Azure cover.

Just seen this latest issue at my local Morrisons, they had about 7 copies but unfortunately everyone of them had the Swarm cover.
I’ll hold out for Azure, probably have to try Doncaster W H Smith’s again.

Hello, ergon and Jay, I always keep the magazine’s, (like most of my collection).
So hopefully I’ll be able to find Azure.
If not I’ll get the swarm cover, as ergon says it’s only a cover.

    • Coleman

      November 14th, 2021 - 11:53am

Made a special trip yesterday to Doncaster W H Smith’s and their was only one copy left. (You guessed it, the Swarm.
I’ve run out if ideas now, unless the other covers come out later?

      November 14th, 2021 - 12:37pm

Hi Coleman, I’m going to try again for the Azure cover at the end of next week as the others might arrive in shops by then. I might get it from Panini direct if I can’t as I’d really like this cover. Hope you have some success.

      November 14th, 2021 - 2:51pm

If you save the magazines coleman you might want to hang on about a week or so. I,ll bet the swarm covers were the first off the press and the least wanted so they put the majority of those out first. Like i say i don,t save mine and i,m just interested in the content.

    • Coleman

      November 14th, 2021 - 6:05pm

Yes, I’ll hang on a few weeks to see if I can get that Azure cover.
Has anyone had experience ordering from Panini.
Like if theirs 3 covers would they send you the cover you asked for?

    • Jay

      November 15th, 2021 - 4:55pm

Yes Coleman, I have never ordered direct from Panini but might in this case. You can select the cover you want but there is a postage charge of about £2.50 which is why I am holding back for a a bit before ordering direct. I hope you have some sucess with getting the Azure cover. This is the cover I want as well.

    • Coleman

      November 15th, 2021 - 5:07pm

I’ll give it a couple of weeks Jay and if no luck still, I’ll order from Panini, let me know if you manage to get one.

    • Jay

      November 15th, 2021 - 6:05pm

Will do Coleman. Let me know if you manage to get yours a well.

    • Coleman

      November 15th, 2021 - 9:23pm

Will do Jay. I was watching the Azure intently on last Night’s Dr Who to see what she was getting up to, but as far as I can remember I don’t think she uttered one word?
It seems to be abit of a Swarm one man show at the moment.

    • Jay

      November 15th, 2021 - 10:01pm

I think that is about to change Coleman. I think the next two episodes are going to give Azure a bit of back story and I don’t think Swarm is going to feature much. Looking forward to seeing more of her in the coming weeks.

    • Jay

      November 19th, 2021 - 1:36pm

Hi Coleman. After having no luck this week with finding the Azure cover I decided to order direct from Panini. A little more expensive as it’s 2.95 postage but at least I know I can secure a copy. I think it’s bad that they produce three covers and it’s impossible to get the other two in the shops. Now just waiting for it to arrive. Hope you have had some success.

    • Coleman

      November 19th, 2021 - 8:27pm

No success either Jay, havnt seen it anywhere.
If I don’t see it by next week I’ll also order from Panini. They should have plenty, I think the Sontaran cover will probably sell out first.

    November 12th, 2021 - 11:02am

Only just noticed that Rochenda Sandall who plays Azure is of mixed race with Dark Brown eyes so she must be wearing contact lenses.
The thing with a program that’s nearly sixty years old is theirs always plenty of titbits still to find out about.

I usually get mine from WH Smiths ergon. They are usually quite good at getting it in on the day. Not so good for the specials or the Chronicles they can take a few days or a week to arrive. I’m going in this week to hopefully get my Azure cover. I would give Smiths a try.

    • The ergon

      November 9th, 2021 - 10:46pm

Wakefield city centre coleman. I often have a ride to the retail park there the b and m is huge. Itll be one of my back ups when the next sets come out. Featherstone nearby is where i picked the last wave up, well before sheff and the stairfoot in barnsley. Well see who gets them first this time. You should be ok with parkgate.

      November 10th, 2021 - 10:59am

Thanks ergon, ill try Doncaster Morrisons today for last month’s Magazine, Corton Wood never had it in this time. Today’s my last chance of getting it in the shops once this month comes out tomorrow.

      November 10th, 2021 - 4:30pm

At last, found it at Doncaster WH Smith’s. Wasn’t in Donny Morrisons (as usual).
It was £9.99 though, was expecting it to be usual price.
      Is this correct?

      November 10th, 2021 - 6:08pm

Yes coleman. I actually mistook last months and thoght thought one of the three covers was under the seal for this months. I wouldnt have bought otherwise. I only was going to get this months as there were features that interested me like planet of fire fact of fictiion, but yes it was £9.99.

I’m not making this up, but my local Morrisons has always carried the Dr Who Magazine from the year dot.
However a couple of issues ago came the cover (that I didn’t like) with Just John Bishop on the front cover. I don’t think it sold well at all because their was around TEN issues on the shelf at Corton Wood and they never moved.
The knock on effect is they never had the last issue in stock at all with Jodie, Dan and Yaz on the cover for the first time I can ever remember.
Wonder what’s going to happen with this month’s issue?

The Azure cover is great by the way, looks like I’ll have to go further afield for my Dr Who fix in future if my local Morrisons stops selling it. (Wouldn’t have minded last issue aswell, but I’ve never seen it locally).

Hope you manage to get your copy this month Coleman from your local Morrisons. Are you going for the Azure cover? I’m still deciding which one I’ll be getting. It’ll be a tough choice.

Hello Jay. yes definitely the Azure cover if I can get hold of one, it really stands out to me. Also it’s great to have more females in Dr Who, Terrestrial or Alien, especially in merchandising like Harrops but CO and Eaglemoss aswell.
