This issue just came out in the US, with everything on lockdown I can’t get to my local store to pick up a copy of this one. Anyone know of where i can order a copy online without paying a fortune in postage on ebay?

The next issue is a celebration of all things season 14.

Would also like to say the subscribers cover of Jo Martin is actually an improvement on the non-sub cover shown above.

I’m fine with it as long they explain why her Tardis is a police box and if we see her regress back into a child who then grew up to become Hartnell with their mind wiped!

Actually the doctor who retired is George gallaccio, his face is the one directly before hartnell in brain.
Solutions – 1 jo Martin’s doctor was a division agent that wanted out, she hides on earth, escapes in fugitive then at some point is captured, regenerates and continues working for the division until retirement.
2 jo Martin’s doctor is the one who retired after trying to escape.
3 the tardis hartnell borrows is the tardis used by previous doctors. Two things could support this. The tardis says it choose the doctor. Clara just points the doctor in the right direction, putting right any interference from the great intelligence (such as making him go to the wrong tardis) and the other is the police box shape. Look at it like this. During a previous doctor the tardis becomes a police box and the doctor likes it. Doctor and tardis are retired. Tardis recognises doctor, chooses him, and when landing at the right time period chooses the police box form and refuses to change (let’s face it a police box is a very unlikely choice for a junk yard and the chameleon circuit seems resistant to change)
My favourite thing in all of this curffuffle is that it’s not chibnall but hinchcliffe to blame! There is no doubt that the production team of morbius fully intended those faces to be pre hartnell doctors. Perhaps those fans shouting that who is over should start blaming hinchcliffe!
Personally I think it’s great. And it makes no real difference to the show. The doctor will still be the doctor

I always thought that the other faces shown when the Doctor and Morbius were doing battle belonged to Morbius.

Morbius is winning. The info track on the DVD is very clear on the production teams intentions

No offence, but I think DWM is getting a bit too obsessed with the past. Now, I know there’s the Ruth Doctor on the cover, but look at the contents list-eight more pages on a Hartnell story, a look back at an old annual story, an interview with an old director, etc.-I appreciate this kind of content, but I think the amount there is and the frequency of it is making DWM too obscure and self referential. A casual buyer would have no clue what the majority of it means. Now, I know they may have had trouble getting access to Series 12 information given the secrecy regarding it, but there is a lot they could have done even without the specifics, rather than publishing all these articles which remind me of wilderness years scrabbling for content.

The problem they have is the fan base is clearly split on the current incarnation of Doctor Who so there’s a good chance they’d lose a lot of buyers had the magazine been mostly to do with the new series.

They could do that during the 9th, 10th and 11th Doctor’s era but there’s been so much division since Capaldi’s second series (the viewing figures do not lie) that it would be suicide not keeping classic era fans more than accommodated for.

I’m not sure who the magazine is aimed at anymore. I am a ‘from issue 1’ reader and cards on the table, not the biggest fan of the current iteration of the programme. That isn’t to say that I’m not interested in reading about the current show, if interesting things are written. Everything in the magazine is SO lightweight (and has been for a while now), the secrecy around the programme (whilst I understand, to a point) is also choking it too. There is plenty to discuss – go back to the Wilderness Years of the Who mag when Gary Gillatt was editing and apply that thinking to 12 seasons of the new programme!

Great cover. Shame there’s no poster with it. I like it when there posters. A great poster would be all The Doctors together. Also would like to see a Yaz poster sometime. Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill are awesome

Absolute right call on the cover. The jo doctor is by far a bigger story than jacks far too brief cameo (I enjoyed the cameo but it could have been any character really) or the faceless ones animation. They can keep jack in the run up to the next special. They will explain the ruth doctor properly eventually but in the meanwhile I’m more than happy to have her as classified as the doctor until then.

Nice as it was to see Jack back it was just a cameo so I agree about the choice of cover Gordon. And as far as I’m concerned she is the doctor. Personally I think she’s one of the doctor’s who worked for the mysterious organisation on gallifrey. Have to say I enjoyed this series so much. I love the timeless child idea. Explains an old continuity problem (morbius) and actually doesn’t make any difference to what we know of “our” doctor’s lives. Bring on the next series!

I have accepted that there was other doctors before Hartnell, I don’t necessarily like the direction as I think it’s a slight insult to Hartnell but it is intriguing and offers plenty of opportunities for stories (as long as they are explored as full episodes not just a part of the finale.) What Im finding harder to accept is that the doctor is some mythical and omnipotent alien and isn’t technically Galifreyan. I just don’t like making the doctor too powerful and important as it subtracts from cosmic adventurer element of the character that has served the classic and modern series well.

Wasn’t there a subplot during Sylvester McCoy’s Doctor about him being more than who he appeared to be. There’s also the reference to the Time Lords battling the Great Vampires with the help of Rassilon, Omega and the ‘Other’.

Maybe those threads are now being picked up and we’ll get to find out more about the Doctor and the early days of the Time Lords.

I adored this season 12, absolutely amazing and the most exciting season we have had for ages – I have been watching Dr Who for a long, long time! Love the idea of there being more Doctors, and totally welcome the knowledge that Jo Martin is the Doctor too. Bravo!!!! More, more of the same high standard please!!! The new / retro style cybermen were superb!

Yes, shame, the ratings are disappointing – the series is brilliant and let’s hope it’s just a blip. Went through this kind of thing during the 80’s, and now it’s amazing the positive views people have about the mid to late 80’s episodes.

I loved it too, best series in a long while for mystery and surprises. shame some people are determined to dislike it because it doesn’t fit their personal view of how the show should be which is weird when the show actually always embraced change. But lots of people loved it and it was talked about!

Yes, but where does Jo Martin fit into continuity. Because it isn’t clear to me, so NO, she is not the Doctor. At least not until Chibnall defines where she’s placed.

I’m happy to go along with she is the Doctor if it’s in the show, but I do hope we get a solid defined position for her even if it’s just she came before the First Doctor but maybe not immediately before him.
I think there still could be more to this story and it still could be a parallel universe thing who knows with a separate set of Doctor’s and the Master has the wrong universe.

      March 2nd, 2020 - 11:47pm

Needs more answers I’m afraid, so still a NO from me. But Chibnall likes being controversial with the shows legacy. Part of his mission is seemingly to destroy the franchise from the inside. And he is succeeding, judging by the alarming drop in viewing figures. This show is nearer it’s end now than ever before.

Not sure about a parallel universe thing. I could be wrong but if you look at any of the stories where the Doctor strays into a parallel world there doesn’t seem to be any indication that the Doctor (of that universe) has ever been around. And we know how much the Doc likes to meddle with everything. He/she just can’t help themselves.

I have a theory. During the early history of the Time Lords they weren’t exactly nice guys. Perhaps, jealous of their emerging new abilities (solar engineering, time travel etc) and being aware of the possibility of other universes they tried to consolidate their position as all-powerful beings. They pre-empted Davros and set of a reality bomb in all the other universes – destroying only the Gallifreyan system – long before each universe could give rise to their own race of Time Lords.
