Doctor Who Jungles of Mechanus 5.5″ Dalek Set

This item has sold out but you could keep checking www.character-online.com

Alternatively you can search for this item at www.ebay.co.uk or check www.amazon.co.uk

An ebay seller also has items for customs such as Claws and Cutting Arms

USA /Australian/ Outside of the EU buyers will have the VAT deducted. The total USA delivered cost seems to be around $45 or even less depending on location.

This unique set includes 2 x highly detailed 5.5 inch scale Daleks with points of articulation, and comes beautifully presented in Heritage style Doctor Who branded packaging with specially created insert. A must have for all Doctor Who fans and collectors.

Way back in 1965, a six-part First Doctor story entitled ‘The Chase’ became famous in the eyes of Doctor Who fans for being special in many ways. It featured some unique ‘guest’ Daleks seen in Episode Three and Five. The exclusive Jungles of Mechanus Dalek Figure Set, has been created to offer something unique to delight fans and collectors and to pay homage to the unique Daleks seen onscreen. ‘The Chase’ storyline follows The First Doctor and his companions Ian, Barbara and Vicky who are forced to flee through time in the TARDIS after they learn that a group of Daleks, with their own Time Ship are following them with orders to exterminate!

An epic chase through space and time ensues, starting on the Planet Aridius and then continuing through locations including the Empire State Building, the ‘Marie Celeste’ ship, and even an old haunted house populated by classic horror characters. Heading to a final confrontation, the TARDIS lands on the Planet Mechanus, where the Daleks arrive shortly afterwards. Pursued by multiple Dalek patrols through the dense and aggressive Mechanus jungle, the travellers eventually come upon a strange metallic city suspended high in the sky which belongs to an equally evil robot species known as the Mechanoids.

Al Dewar, Character Options’ Head of Product Development, went on to explain why for him it holds a special place in his heart.

“Firstly it’s the final adventure for the last of the original TARDIS companions, Ian and Barbara but it also features the first and last appearance of a race of robotic creatures the Mechanoids”

“Dalek aficionados will also know that it marks the appearance of some rather special ‘guest’ Dalek props that were seen in Episodes 3 and 5. At the time of filming the BBC were short of Dalek props having only three left. New Daleks were commissioned, but to fill the gap, they hired three Dalek props from the ‘Doctor Who and The Daleks’ movie.

“These ‘guest’ Daleks were chosen because they had sucker arms which matched the Daleks from the BBC series and two are seen in altered form, with their deep skirt bases and light covers removed. The second and more exciting appearances however, are two unaltered props glimpsed several times as part of the Dalek patrols pursuing the TARDIS crew through the Jungle.

“As fans will know, we’ve introduced the Dalek Twin pack sets starting with ‘The Daleks’ and ‘The Dalek Invasion of Earth’ this year which begin to chart the chronological TV appearances of the Doctors greatest and oldest enemies. So, it was a fitting next step therefore to announce a new and unique Dalek Two figure Set which neatly dovetails into that series.

“It is these special ‘guest’ Daleks that we present here in our new Online Exclusive. With their distinctively different light covers and skirt bases along with unique metallic colours, this set brings the fans and collectors a one-off unique TV Dalek Action Figure never produced before.”

I bought 4 of these Dalek sets, as theres a guy on eBay who is selling 3D printed claws and flamethrower attachments, so i plan to have a full set of 6 drones with the different attachments and then paint the other two to resemble the black supreme and red sub commander! Exciting stuff indeed 🙂

Yup, I bought 4 from Dalekidea. They arrived yesterday. Note they’re unpainted so will have to source some colour-matching silver paint. I’d love to do custom-repaints, but the hemispheres are too much of a challenge.

How exactly do you disassemble the Dalek to remove the sucker and replace it with a claw or the cutter? I could see removing the entire sucker arm and replacing it with a complete arm with the claw on it, but near as I remember, the claws on eBay are separate pieces on their own, not attached to an arm.

I’ve just ordered my 2nd set because my 1st was sent with minor damage on the box. Just been on eBay and seen one little selling 10 loose daleks for £20 each. Another seller selling them boxed for £49.99 each. 3 already sold. It makes me mad these profiteers get away with this. What do you think?

As a fan and collector I scrupulously search out the best prices and would only consider paying over the odds if something sold out. Seems daft to just see something and instantly pay an inflated price.

Both of mine arrived this afternoon, and though I’m very happy to have a pair out along with my HOTD #1 & #2 Daleks, I wasn’t happy that both of mine arrived with the top-right-front corner of the box crumpled 🙁 . The box I’ve kept sealed was the least crumpled (the other also had one of the other corners crumpled as well), and both boxes had some degree of scuffing on the printed surfaces. Am I the only person so unlucky? You’d think they would use bubble-wrap or foam rather than just bare, form-fitting cardboard for something genuinely Limited Edition! It’s a good thing I usually open my Doctor Who figures/models huh? (I even have photos of the boxes, as I always document new figure/DVD purchases).

They have been sent in outer boxes to try to avoid damage which seems to have worked in the vast majority of cases so far, if they are dented then send a picture and ask for a paid return and refund at CO cost as they have been supplied “damaged”, they can put in a claim with the courier for losses.

Re-order in the hope its doesn’t happen again.

    • John

      September 10th, 2020 - 11:14am

You are likely to find it difficult to claim for damaged packaging. Legally it isn’t part of the product and therefore cannot be claimed for. Its function is to protect the product – the fact its pretty and some people like to keep it is irrelevant I’m afraid.
CO may take pity on you but don’t be surprised if they don’t.

    • booboo

      September 10th, 2020 - 11:23am

really? the packaging is specifically being mentioned as:

“beautifully presented in Heritage style Doctor Who branded packaging with specially created insert”

Therefore if is crushed or damaged its not “beautifully presented” and you have not received what was advertised.

If mine arrived crushed i would expect it to be replaced.

I haven’t either, but that’s to be expected as it has to ship overseas to the United States. CO said it would take up to 14 business days, usually.

    • David Minter

      September 12th, 2020 - 4:27pm

Now, this is interesting. In the US, WhoNA got in a stock of the Mechanus Daleks. They’ve got 8 left if they still have any when CO runs out or you don’t want untracked overseas shipping. My guess is WhoNA ordered like 10 sets for their own sales. They’re $59.99 each, so they have factored in the shipping costs to receive them from overseas.

For me, this begs an interesting question. If WhoNA has already received their orders, where is mine? 🙂 WhoNA is in Indiana, one of the tri-states bordering mine. I still haven’t received mine. Maybe today.

    • David Minter

      September 12th, 2020 - 9:22pm

Of course, I just realized something. WhoNA might have gotten a bulk shipping rate, seeing as they ordered at least 8 sets; that’s how many they had remaining this morning. So, they might have gotten a better/faster shipping rate than my Airmail one was sent.
