USA /Australian/ Outside of the EU buyers will have the VAT deducted. The total USA delivered cost seems to be around $45 or even less depending on location.

This unique set includes 2 x highly detailed 5.5 inch scale Daleks with points of articulation, and comes beautifully presented in Heritage style Doctor Who branded packaging with specially created insert. A must have for all Doctor Who fans and collectors.

Way back in 1965, a six-part First Doctor story entitled ‘The Chase’ became famous in the eyes of Doctor Who fans for being special in many ways. It featured some unique ‘guest’ Daleks seen in Episode Three and Five. The exclusive Jungles of Mechanus Dalek Figure Set, has been created to offer something unique to delight fans and collectors and to pay homage to the unique Daleks seen onscreen. ‘The Chase’ storyline follows The First Doctor and his companions Ian, Barbara and Vicky who are forced to flee through time in the TARDIS after they learn that a group of Daleks, with their own Time Ship are following them with orders to exterminate!

An epic chase through space and time ensues, starting on the Planet Aridius and then continuing through locations including the Empire State Building, the ‘Marie Celeste’ ship, and even an old haunted house populated by classic horror characters. Heading to a final confrontation, the TARDIS lands on the Planet Mechanus, where the Daleks arrive shortly afterwards. Pursued by multiple Dalek patrols through the dense and aggressive Mechanus jungle, the travellers eventually come upon a strange metallic city suspended high in the sky which belongs to an equally evil robot species known as the Mechanoids.

Al Dewar, Character Options’ Head of Product Development, went on to explain why for him it holds a special place in his heart.

“Firstly it’s the final adventure for the last of the original TARDIS companions, Ian and Barbara but it also features the first and last appearance of a race of robotic creatures the Mechanoids”

“Dalek aficionados will also know that it marks the appearance of some rather special ‘guest’ Dalek props that were seen in Episodes 3 and 5. At the time of filming the BBC were short of Dalek props having only three left. New Daleks were commissioned, but to fill the gap, they hired three Dalek props from the ‘Doctor Who and The Daleks’ movie.

“These ‘guest’ Daleks were chosen because they had sucker arms which matched the Daleks from the BBC series and two are seen in altered form, with their deep skirt bases and light covers removed. The second and more exciting appearances however, are two unaltered props glimpsed several times as part of the Dalek patrols pursuing the TARDIS crew through the Jungle.

“As fans will know, we’ve introduced the Dalek Twin pack sets starting with ‘The Daleks’ and ‘The Dalek Invasion of Earth’ this year which begin to chart the chronological TV appearances of the Doctors greatest and oldest enemies. So, it was a fitting next step therefore to announce a new and unique Dalek Two figure Set which neatly dovetails into that series.

“It is these special ‘guest’ Daleks that we present here in our new Online Exclusive. With their distinctively different light covers and skirt bases along with unique metallic colours, this set brings the fans and collectors a one-off unique TV Dalek Action Figure never produced before.”

Maybe they didn’t put all 5,000 sets on originally like you said before and just added more sets when stock was low, gone back up to 198 at time of posting. So that’s an additional 100 odd added.

With the low number added- 100-150, makes it sound that they really are on their last stock.

As people mentioned above, there may have been cancelled orders, backlog of those process on site.

Either way, hopefully we can sell these out this week. Even if it takes until the end of Sept to move the last set, this will still be a resounding success.

I was think about this, what if Character did a Nightmare in Silver Cyberman set along the lines of this set but, one with a gun arm one without. Then B&M could release the wooden version, a leader & Danny Pink version.

    • David Minter

      September 13th, 2020 - 7:05pm

I am really glad this set has sold so well for CO. This should encourage them to make more online exclusive sets, which is always good news.

Still waiting for my order, though. 🙂 But, it hasn’t been 14 business days yet.

I have some ideas for sets CO could do. Two Five Doctors sets. One would be the Five Doctors, which would use pre-existing molds of the Doctors. The other being an Enemies Of The Five Doctors set. Of course, it would have to have the Dalek, which would require just a little retooling to get the proper lights on the dome and the “speaker” between the arms. This would bring a release of all Dalek variants to coming pretty close to complete. All that’s left, I think, are the compass detector arm from The Chase and the mutant scoop and shocker thingie from The Power Of The Daleks.

Those last two could be released in a History Of The Daleks: The Power Of The Daleks set. In fact, they could do two of those, too. The 2nd set being a Dalek with its gun missing, which would be easy to do as they did it with the Toys R Us Genesis Of The Daleks and 4th Doctor twin pack, and a Dalek with its gun installed.

      September 13th, 2020 - 7:21pm

You going to buy the remaining £4000 of stock booboo?

    • David Minter

      September 13th, 2020 - 8:59pm

Oops, I left out something about the Enemies Of The Five Doctors Set idea. In addition to the Dalek, it could include 2 Cybermen, one Cyberman and one Cyber Leader. It would reuse the Earthshock mold and just have to paint the “ears” of one black.

      September 13th, 2020 - 9:26pm

I think it is safe to say that this set was an absolute Success, I have a feeling that the next few years are going to be very exiting for Doctor Who action figures.

    • JL

      September 13th, 2020 - 9:54pm

hope they can upscale some of the 3.75 figures – cybermen, ice warriors, rusty, zygons & time of the doctor Clara yes please (mummy and skovox blitzer desirable too)

      September 14th, 2020 - 1:37am

I’ve bought 3 sets, I’ve repainted 2 daleks to represent the black Leader and red Commander, I’ll display 2 blue drones and keep a set boxed.

I’m really pleased that this set has sold so well, I can see a lot of these daleks being customised like I have done.

Alvin, is your avatar showing the Daleks you’ve just painted?

    • Alvin Amey

      September 14th, 2020 - 5:11pm

No, the daleks in my avatar are my repainted eaglemoss daleks.

    • David Minter

      September 20th, 2020 - 7:32pm

I did forget one type of Dalek that CO hasn’t released to make their variants set complete. What’s called by Eaglemoss as the Electrode Unit Dalek from The Chase. The one with the radar dish in place of its sucker arm.

  • Voldermort

    September 13th, 2020 - 5:24pm

There is less than 190 available. Considering when this was announced and given it’s only been less than a month, 5000 available to start with, this has been an unqualified success.

I think this certainly garuntees many future sets.

  • Lord Choc Ice

    September 13th, 2020 - 11:16am

I was going to get these… but seeing as I cannot find the first two ‘History Of’ B&M sets anywhere near to me and without paying the inflated Ebay scalper prices, then I’ll give the whole collection a miss. Shame. Character should have made the History sets available on line too.. or ensure every store had some stock, however small.

    • Anonymous

      September 13th, 2020 - 11:43am

This isn’t technically part of that collection, so you could get it without needing the rest.

    • JL

      September 13th, 2020 - 11:59am

I’d still recommend getting these, I’m sure you’ll find the first 2 sets! Good luck in finding them!

    • Button

      September 13th, 2020 - 1:51pm

The History of the Daleks sets are financed in part by B&Ms, I’m afraid the only way to get them other than the shops is to buy them online. I personally would not pass up the Jungles of Mechanus set, because once they are gone, they are gone.

    • AJ

      September 13th, 2020 - 2:27pm

That’s a bizarre thing to say. These don’t have to be purchased as part of any larger collection of figures. If you like them, get them. Don’t understand that at all!

    • John

      September 13th, 2020 - 4:39pm

Why is it bizarre?? Each to their own obviously. Some people are quite happy with random sets and that’s fine. I’m a completion and there’s potentially the opportunity to have every version of every on screen Dalek there’s been, if they carry on releasing them – but I hate these limited release products that result in travelling half way around the country to find, or giving in to people on Ebay that don’t give a damn and want to extract even more money from fans. I was a member of the Harrop club and started right from the beginning with every figure, fully committed.. then a few years in, they release a special that is only available at the Festival in 2015, not online. Again, no way to purchase unless you pay the ridiculous ebay scalper price – so, collection incomplete… subsequently sold them all and never bothered with them again. As I say, each to their own, but it’s not bizarre as you like to call it.

    • Gary H.

      September 14th, 2020 - 11:19am

      Yes A J,
Alot it collectors are completionists. If they realise they can’t complete a certain set they won’t bother collecting them at all.
      Happens all the time.

  • Doctorus

      September 13th, 2020 - 2:55pm

Okay, now I’m a bit worried. On Friday I ordered this set at around 3:30 in the afternoon. However, I didn’t know that CO was closed for the day, on Friday (They closed at 2:30pm). My order was processed and CO has given me the order form with the information etc and the receipt via email. However, since they’re also closed for the remaining period of this weekend, I’m worried that I may not be able to receive a copy…

    • booboo

      September 13th, 2020 - 3:02pm

they are just not there to pack and send out orders that’s all, there is no reason why you won’t get yours many other people will have ordered Friday and over the weekend as well but the stock will have been taken of the available inventory.

    • Doctorus

      September 13th, 2020 - 3:07pm

Pardon my silly question, but what do you mean by the stock having been taken of the availiable inventory?

    • booboo

      September 13th, 2020 - 3:34pm

the amount of sets available, yours would have been taken off the total available so its secured for you

      September 15th, 2020 - 10:11am

Hi, booboo. I forgot to mention that, I checked out as a guest on Character’s website. I’m not sure if they had an email address section to fill in when I ordered it. So, I’m not sure if they can email me on when it’ll be dispatched. However, since I payed with paypal, I received a receipt from Paypal displaying what I purchased.

    • booboo

      September 15th, 2020 - 10:26am

yes I’m just the same (although i got 2 confirmation emails for some reason) you will get a despatch email via paypal, i ordered another 2 over the weekend and they have not been sent yet

Yup, I bought 4 from Dalekidea. They arrived yesterday. Note they’re unpainted so will have to source some colour-matching silver paint. I’d love to do custom-repaints, but the hemispheres are too much of a challenge.

    • David Minter

      September 20th, 2020 - 8:08pm

How exactly do you disassemble the Dalek to remove the sucker and replace it with a claw or the cutter? I could see removing the entire sucker arm and replacing it with a complete arm with the claw on it, but near as I remember, the claws on eBay are separate pieces on their own, not attached to an arm.

  • Craig Dutton

    September 10th, 2020 - 7:52pm

I’ve just ordered my 2nd set because my 1st was sent with minor damage on the box. Just been on eBay and seen one little selling 10 loose daleks for £20 each. Another seller selling them boxed for £49.99 each. 3 already sold. It makes me mad these profiteers get away with this. What do you think?

    • Philip Shaw

      September 10th, 2020 - 9:45pm

As a fan and collector I scrupulously search out the best prices and would only consider paying over the odds if something sold out. Seems daft to just see something and instantly pay an inflated price.

  • Neutrobyte

    September 9th, 2020 - 6:50pm

Both of mine arrived this afternoon, and though I’m very happy to have a pair out along with my HOTD #1 & #2 Daleks, I wasn’t happy that both of mine arrived with the top-right-front corner of the box crumpled 🙁 . The box I’ve kept sealed was the least crumpled (the other also had one of the other corners crumpled as well), and both boxes had some degree of scuffing on the printed surfaces. Am I the only person so unlucky? You’d think they would use bubble-wrap or foam rather than just bare, form-fitting cardboard for something genuinely Limited Edition! It’s a good thing I usually open my Doctor Who figures/models huh? (I even have photos of the boxes, as I always document new figure/DVD purchases).

    • Coleman

      September 9th, 2020 - 7:08pm

    • booboo

They have been sent in outer boxes to try to avoid damage which seems to have worked in the vast majority of cases so far, if they are dented then send a picture and ask for a paid return and refund at CO cost as they have been supplied “damaged”, they can put in a claim with the courier for losses.

Re-order in the hope its doesn’t happen again.

You are likely to find it difficult to claim for damaged packaging. Legally it isn’t part of the product and therefore cannot be claimed for. Its function is to protect the product – the fact its pretty and some people like to keep it is irrelevant I’m afraid.
CO may take pity on you but don’t be surprised if they don’t.

really? the packaging is specifically being mentioned as:

“beautifully presented in Heritage style Doctor Who branded packaging with specially created insert”

Therefore if is crushed or damaged its not “beautifully presented” and you have not received what was advertised.

If mine arrived crushed i would expect it to be replaced.

Wrong place to complain about this. Contact Character Options if you’re upset

Anonymous… Why? I’m sure couriers and Royal Mail have enough to do without using your number for anything other than ringing you if there is no answer at your front door.

I haven’t either, but that’s to be expected as it has to ship overseas to the United States. CO said it would take up to 14 business days, usually.

Now, this is interesting. In the US, WhoNA got in a stock of the Mechanus Daleks. They’ve got 8 left if they still have any when CO runs out or you don’t want untracked overseas shipping. My guess is WhoNA ordered like 10 sets for their own sales. They’re $59.99 each, so they have factored in the shipping costs to receive them from overseas.

For me, this begs an interesting question. If WhoNA has already received their orders, where is mine? 🙂 WhoNA is in Indiana, one of the tri-states bordering mine. I still haven’t received mine. Maybe today.

Of course, I just realized something. WhoNA might have gotten a bulk shipping rate, seeing as they ordered at least 8 sets; that’s how many they had remaining this morning. So, they might have gotten a better/faster shipping rate than my Airmail one was sent.
