This unique set includes 2 x highly detailed 5.5 inch scale Daleks with points of articulation, and comes beautifully presented in Heritage style Doctor Who branded packaging with specially created insert. A must have for all Doctor Who fans and collectors.

Way back in 1965, a six-part First Doctor story entitled ‘The Chase’ became famous in the eyes of Doctor Who fans for being special in many ways. It featured some unique ‘guest’ Daleks seen in Episode Three and Five. The exclusive Jungles of Mechanus Dalek Figure Set, has been created to offer something unique to delight fans and collectors and to pay homage to the unique Daleks seen onscreen. ‘The Chase’ storyline follows The First Doctor and his companions Ian, Barbara and Vicky who are forced to flee through time in the TARDIS after they learn that a group of Daleks, with their own Time Ship are following them with orders to exterminate!

An epic chase through space and time ensues, starting on the Planet Aridius and then continuing through locations including the Empire State Building, the ‘Marie Celeste’ ship, and even an old haunted house populated by classic horror characters. Heading to a final confrontation, the TARDIS lands on the Planet Mechanus, where the Daleks arrive shortly afterwards. Pursued by multiple Dalek patrols through the dense and aggressive Mechanus jungle, the travellers eventually come upon a strange metallic city suspended high in the sky which belongs to an equally evil robot species known as the Mechanoids.

Al Dewar, Character Options’ Head of Product Development, went on to explain why for him it holds a special place in his heart.

“Firstly it’s the final adventure for the last of the original TARDIS companions, Ian and Barbara but it also features the first and last appearance of a race of robotic creatures the Mechanoids”

“Dalek aficionados will also know that it marks the appearance of some rather special ‘guest’ Dalek props that were seen in Episodes 3 and 5. At the time of filming the BBC were short of Dalek props having only three left. New Daleks were commissioned, but to fill the gap, they hired three Dalek props from the ‘Doctor Who and The Daleks’ movie.

“These ‘guest’ Daleks were chosen because they had sucker arms which matched the Daleks from the BBC series and two are seen in altered form, with their deep skirt bases and light covers removed. The second and more exciting appearances however, are two unaltered props glimpsed several times as part of the Dalek patrols pursuing the TARDIS crew through the Jungle.

“As fans will know, we’ve introduced the Dalek Twin pack sets starting with ‘The Daleks’ and ‘The Dalek Invasion of Earth’ this year which begin to chart the chronological TV appearances of the Doctors greatest and oldest enemies. So, it was a fitting next step therefore to announce a new and unique Dalek Two figure Set which neatly dovetails into that series.

“It is these special ‘guest’ Daleks that we present here in our new Online Exclusive. With their distinctively different light covers and skirt bases along with unique metallic colours, this set brings the fans and collectors a one-off unique TV Dalek Action Figure never produced before.”

I only hope these are not repeated in the regular ‘Dalek History set 3’ featuring ‘The Chase’!

I would pressume they would release 2x standard drone Daleks that previously came with the Mechanoid in the FP set. Although they could release the Dalek Guard without SFX…

I assume it being called The Jungles of Mechanus Dalek Set instead of #3, it’ll be a separate set from the B&M range.

For anyone in Australia, this seems to work out at 12 pounds (UK) postage when ordered two sets – reasonable for sets like these!

I’ve ordered mine (one set), but there doesn’t seem to be a limit as to how many you can order. Suspect these are going to be hoovered up by scalpers fairly quickly (yep, someone on eBay already offering 12 sets at twice the price)

I even managed to get two of these sets to Australia (including postage) for only $20 AUD more than what I paid for the new B&M dalek sets here. This works out really well for everyone I would say!

Yeah, although Missy was handled pretty badly, charging full price for 2 variants of the same character… never surprised me that they didn’t do well… these on the otherhand, less than £30 for effectively an army builder pack of a style of Dalek that collectors have wanted for years… I’m sure these will do just fine!!!

I think I might be able to get some money in for Sunday. Considering nearly half the stock is already gone, I dread to think how many there will be by then, if any. Fingers crossed I don’t miss out.

Don’t want to give into the scalpers. But if they’ve cleared them out then I’ll just have to.

Tip – if any one wants to save a bit money, order a Mashems pack for £2.99 (cheapest thing on the CO site), this will push the order over £25 and you will will get free postage. You only save £1.50 but at least you are getting something for the £2,99. Mashes make a good sticking filler.

What a fantastic surprise. Thanks to having the Chase set with Mechanoid, and the FX Guard I will surprisingly have a bundle form this story. I pre ordered along with Graham for free postage, since I hadn’t bought him before because I don’t like Bradley Walsh, but since I played o getting the other 2 at some point, and I like the idea of ordering someone from the Game Show The Chase with Daleks from the Who Story The Chase together.

Are these a one off for this year or are other packs planned? I,m really getting back into Daleks this way, if they keep releasing more from the 60s to present. i can,t wait for The Dalek supreme from ‘day’ to get the re-release.

Hopefully these will continue in some form… the B&M range, the Whittaker-era main range and now a potential for occassional online exclusive sets as well… who’d have thought we’d be this spoilt considering the regrettable state the range was in just a few years back… this… is… A-MAZ-ING!!!

      AND LONG MAY IT CONTINUE!

i,m in full agreement. I,d gone off daleks for a long while as the sets became a bit samey. This has galvanised and piqued my interest into wanting to collect more, especially from the classic range. I think it was all seeing all those bronze variants, which i was never that big a fan of, that made me sell off my original character collection. Its those with varying stand out colours that do it for me. I like something new and these are fab.

i more than welcome a re release of the gold chief dalek but i’m not that overenthusiastic on the design, its a bit bland to me. The planet supreme had a lot more going on with its design.
