After debating for a long time, finally decided to buy the Third Doctor one! It’s great! And it has a new(?) sound chip – makes four Pertwee era sounds! Wasn’t expecting that!

If you don’t mind me asking. Where did you buy the Thrid Doctors sonic from with the updated sounds?

I bought the 3rd and 4th Doctor Sonics online from Character about 6 weeks ago – the ones I got came in a pack like the ones above.

The only original release Sonic I owned was the Pertwee one, which made 2 noises; the usual ‘buzz’ and the same noise with the ‘burble’ over the top of it.

The *Tom Baker* Doctor Sonic I got recently makes these same 2 noises.
The new *Pertwee* Sonic makes 4 *different* noises.

*Sorry – ran out of space above*
The new *Pertwee* Sonic I got makes 4 *different* noises.

One is the ‘door opener’ sound from Inferno, the 2nd is a higher-pitched pulsing whine (which I think is the sound used to detonate the land mines in Sea Devils). The other 2 sounds are 2 differently-pitched ‘buzzes’, but neither is the same sound as on the original toy.

      Hope this helps!!

Is the 10th Doctor one different to the original release?

The 10th Doctor sonic screwdriver has four sound effects. The two ordinary ones and two classic era sound effects.

I got the future sonic today and it only lights up and makes a sound; does it have any other functions?

I believe that if you take the lid part off there’s a button which, once held down, makes a green eerie glow, and once pressed. Makes the colour of the sonic change. FYI: Blue and Red are the colours.

But I have no idea about the re-release I’m afraid.

You can restore the screwdrivers functionality but you’ll need: A piece of wire, a standard tactile switch with a low profile button, a duel colour 5mm LED (Red & Blue) and a standard 5mm green LED.

I had to restore mine, the second screw is behind the green & gold stud below the neural relay hatch.

I bought two river song screwdrivers and both relay buttons don’t work. I don’t know how to open it to see the inside though
