December 30th, 2013 - 10:15amI wait until the complete series box set comes out which include xmas specials rather than get things in parts or separately. Wonder if series 8 box set would include the 50th special as well as the 2013 xmas special?

December 3rd, 2013 - 10:05pmDoes anyone else have any audio issues on the blu ray as my audio when I watch the blu ray in 2D distorts more whooshier wispier effects like the helicopter at the beginning is so distorted it is almost impossible to hear. The Tardis sounds terrible like the landing sound sounds so distorted that it sounds like it is being sick! The time fissures also are not clear at all. It’s a bit of a shame as most of the audio is fine just a few sound fx are bad. No idea whether its just mine or everyone’s then I know whether or not to send it back.

December 4th, 2013 - 10:01amThe suspicion is it’s to do with the badly done 4% slow down, which requires audio processing – pitch correction.

December 6th, 2013 - 9:44amthere is a few people complaining about the audio
Mark
December 6th, 2013 - 4:40pmYes the slow down is noticeable and has left a sluggish feel to it with poor audio. Very disappointing.

December 8th, 2013 - 11:59pmYES!
I watched the bluray for the first time last night in 2D and was disappointed with the audio. It sounded to my ears like it was encoded at a low bitrate or something. I noticed it straight away, especially the scene with the helicopter. I thought perhaps they’d tried to squeeze too much onto one disc. Most bluray editions that include 2D and 3D versions of a feature usually have two discs.
Disappointing.

December 3rd, 2013 - 6:16pmYou know, I honestly would’ve expected the BBC to go the “limited edition” route with this.
Like, packing it full of exclusive bonus features…
Or putting it in a limited edition blu-ray steelbook.
But no. It’s extremely basic.
The only version that I’ve seen that could be a “limited edition”, was the US release that includes a lenticular slipcase and trading cards.
Didn’t even get those in the UK!
Would’ve liked for the intros that were played at the cinema to be included too. 🙁
Pretty lackluster blu-ray release, if you ask me.

December 6th, 2013 - 9:47amThey will probably save the extras for the specials boxset which will no doubt happen next year.

December 3rd, 2013 - 4:29pmI’m disappointed that The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot and An Adventure in Space and Time isn’t included but it is still a good set.
Johnny
December 6th, 2013 - 1:29pm“An Adventure in Space and Time” has been released on it’s own as it’s not aimed specifically at the Doctor Who fans market but is also of interest other demographics.

December 3rd, 2013 - 6:59pmBut its SD and kind of pointless since if you rip the disk yourself you’ll get a far superior video file. Would rather more extra features over UV.

December 2nd, 2013 - 7:51pmSeems everyone’s getting it today apart from people like me who spent £7 on same day delivery! Not happy!

December 2nd, 2013 - 9:02amSeems the blu ray version is weirdly slowed down, increasing the running time and leaving the picture juddery. Any word on whether the DVD is the correct speed/running time?

December 2nd, 2013 - 8:21pmTry a firmware update on blu Ray player. Usually cures disc problems.
Mark
December 6th, 2013 - 4:39pmIt is slowed down (approx 4% apparently) – you’ll see the running time on the box says 76 mins, but when you watch the Blu Ray it is around 79-80 mins. They reduced the blu ray to 24 fps – something to do with technical requirements for 1080 and 3D. However this has just left it feeling slow and affecting the audio also. Real shame as picture quality itself is good.

December 1st, 2013 - 9:12pmGuys!!! Should I buy this or wait for a 2013 Specials boxset?? It hardly seems likely they’ll do one considering it’d only be two episodes?

A New Dalek Paradigm
December 1st, 2013 - 9:32pmPersonally I’m going to wait to see if they release a set next year with this, Adventure and Time of the Doctor all together. If it turns out they don’t I’ll buy them all separately when, hopefully, they’ll be at a cheaper price.

November 26th, 2013 - 10:57amWhere’s the “Five(ish) Doctors: Reboot” special? This compliments the main special by explaining where the other doctors were.

November 25th, 2013 - 8:07amI’m going to be more than happy to buy this and “Adventure” – loads of extras on both and both deserving their own releases, IMHO.
As for Day of the Daleks – I’m no big fan of “the Moff”, but IMHO again, he pulled it off – I loved it and trying not to do any spoilers, there were many lump in the throat moments, even more so on the two times that I’ve re-watched it. Can’t wait for the DVD and to own my own bit of telly history.

November 24th, 2013 - 7:18pmNo Five-ish Doctors reboot?

November 24th, 2013 - 1:24pmGOOD EXTRAS ON THERE,but i think they should sell it as a double pack with AN ADVENTURE IN SPACE & TIME.
Johnny
November 25th, 2013 - 8:24amWhy?
Personally I’m ghappy that the two are seperate releases as AAIS&T has nothing to do with the current series.
Doctor 13th
November 22nd, 2013 - 6:02pmWill the Blu-Ray 3D be a regular Blu-Ray as well? Because it seems to cheap to be a 3D Blu-Ray.
Doctor 13th
November 22nd, 2013 - 8:36pmAhh to hell with it; I’m buying it on DVD with An Adventure In Space and Time. Can’t be asked to constantly check on updates.
