Went into my local Forbidden Planet today, only had The Doctor, Clara, Cyberman, Ice Warrior and Dalek, none of the Playsets just the Spin and fly TARDIS. Also no Varients or Weeping Angels so I bought the Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote Control with some Birthday money instead.

TRU had the TARDIS on Sunday & one each of the playsets – no figures though.

FP had all the standard figures except a weeping angel, a few TARDIS sets & one each of the playsets.

Bought Doctor, Clara, Cyberman, Ice Warrior, Ice Warrior set & TARDIS.

Doctor figure comes apart very easily & the paint is already rubbing off. The TARDIS is either constantly making its noise after a simple tap or not making it at all because the carpet is too soft to make the button work.

Playset – cardboard peeling on main bit once opened otherwise ok.

My Toys R Us in Swindon finally have them! I got them a week ago today but my internet has been broken until today! I got all the 6 main figures, spin and fly TARDIS and the Black Dalek. They had two, but they’ve both gone (one of them by me! :D)

Clara is amazingly sculpted. The reason is probably because she is not a shrunken version of a past figure, but a unique new design. Get her first, then collect the villains. The Cyberman is cool, but the Ice Warrior I think is a little better.

Technically, they didn’t make any 5 inch figures from Series 7a, and there is a Dalek and a Weeping Angel in the wave, neither of which made actual appearances in Series 7b.

I would love to see A 3.75 inch Amy Pond. To be honest if there is A wave 2 I would want her the most! For playsets they should definitely do a tardis playset along with asylum of the daleks one to. For rares they should do 60’s and 70’s asylum daleks just A thought.

    • DoctorArkham

      June 17th, 2013 - 8:09pm

      @Jordan

Awesome idea! Amy, Rory and Brian Williams should come with a ‘Dinosaurs on a Spaceship’ set. I would also like to see:

The Bells of Saint John set with Miss Kizlet’s office and Spoonhead with GI on screen

The Crimson Horror set with Vastra, Jenny and Ada in the Dipping Room and vat

The Name of the Doctor set with River Song, Doctor Simeon and the Doctor’s tomb with portal.

I’m disappointed in the size change but I guess it was to shrink the costs for the playsets.I think instead of a Angels in Manhattan playset,we should have got a Asylum of the Daleks one with the Lady with the Dalek eye sticking out her head.
The Dalek Invasion playset was a nice idea but now I guess I’ll have to get one of the Daleks to fit the Hoverbout.Might get the Doctor simply for display purposes, not sure about Clara.Defo not getting the Angel or the Cyberman

    • The Monitor

      June 10th, 2013 - 10:15pm

Have checked over 100 figures in several shops. Only looking for Dalek/Cybermen known variants at the time (which upsets me somewhat in hindsight) I compared many Claras, Drs, Ice Warriors but saw no differents in about 4-5 of each.

      What I have seen Chase-wise:-

      0 black Daleks
2 Cyberleaders (bought one, left one for someone else hopefully not an eBayer)-9 days ago

The other variants did not know what to look for so could have missed a marginally different waist coat.

I found an Ice Warrior with the base missing so bought that for rarity.

according to http://www.doctorwhotoys.net/series7.htm there are only 100 variants per wave. they also claim there are 7 variants, doctor dark purple coat, cyberman with arm gun, cyberman with arm gun and blue chest, clara pink dress, screaming angel, hologram angel and dalek sec.

Hope you are right, and that there are many batches per wave.

Remember back to CB S3. I bought a complete set of f someone who opened well over ten boxes at the time. No super rares. They continued to buy more with no super rares. I read of none on this forum. Then suddenly the SRs were announced and people were finding them. I think that the first wave of CB S3 had none. This is what the finders’ odds suggest.

  • DOCTOR WHO ONE

    June 9th, 2013 - 4:34pm

Saw all of these today in Forbidden Planet up London.

Not worth the money if you ask me. I compared the 11th Doctor one with a 5inch version with Stetson, and I could clearly see how bad these new ones really are.

Just makes no sense to me what so ever that they made the new line of new series figures 3.75 inch, yet the classic series figures stay at 5 inch.

I’d only get Clara and the new look Cyberman if they where 5 inch. This new line just don’t work for me, and the real problem with the scale is the sheer loss of detail.

well if they made classic and new figures 3.75″ i’m sure there would be a lot more people angry and they probably couldn’t be bothered to do loads of classic new scale figures when there are loads out already

    • booboo

      June 9th, 2013 - 4:59pm

they wont change the classics as they have a core worldwide collectors market and are supported by FP and undergrounds toys.

New series figures need mass-market production and support from the big retailers to be viable.

Totally agree! I have just ordered and received 3 of these figures for my Dr Who mad son and they are terrible. I am very disappointed. I can only imagine the disappointment on his face when he gets home from school. What were the BBC thinking of producing a different size from what they usually produce. I doubt my son will be able to play with these as it looks like the doctor has shrunk if you put it beside an older figure.

I emailed Character about bringing back the 5″ figures, this was their reply:
    Dear Mr ….,
I write in response to your recent e mail and can confirm that we have no plans to revert back to 5″ scale figures in our Dr Who range.
However, your comments have been noted and will be passed onto the relevant personnel for any future considerations.

    Many thanks for your feedback.

    Regards
    Tracy Jump

Yay! That means that if the 3.75″ figures don’t do well then there is a possibility that they could bring back the brilliant 5″ range! Although shops like supermarkets stopped ordering them in, my local Toys R Us still have Series 6 figures and the 3.75″ have been out for nearly two weeks!

Indeed, you have to look at if from the retailers perspective. If you do not think a product in this respect 5inch figures would sell , would you consider buying something that will not sell and you could lose money?

BooBoo is right, even if character were to consider going back to the 5inch, the only way you would be able to buy them in the shops would be if the shops buys the stock, and if they do not then you will have a hard time finding them.

I am afraid Character would not take the risk if it meant they would lose money in the process
