The only thing I really like about these new figures is, as the pictures demonstrate, there are a lot of ‘other’ figures that are in the same scale, like the Star Wars and Avengers figures etc.

So if anyone wanted to make cross over films it would be much easier, since most other figures come in either 6 or 7 inch forms if they are not 3.75 inch, which actually makes the Doctor Who 5 inch figures quite unique really (although I still prefer them).

Hopefully somewhere like Argos or The Entertainer will get them in store soon.

for me its a right turn off.

they seem to be more geared towards ‘playing’ instead of displaying like the classic ones.

    • drwhofan130

      June 2nd, 2013 - 8:41am

Same no shop sells these near me too in fact the only shop near me that sells doctor who merchandise is Argos, And I am not getting the spin and fly tardis from they at that price

    • Nicholas

      June 2nd, 2013 - 10:27am

That’s the idea Josh. They’re designed to be played with. I must admit, along with the time zone sets, they look very good displayed on a shelf

    • doctorpond393

      June 2nd, 2013 - 2:44pm

Josh, what do think action figures are for? They’re designed for kids. Character are a toy manufacturing company. Not a place to buy display items.

    • The Monitor

      June 2nd, 2013 - 7:19pm

      The great irony.
The more that people play with them the more the un-played with ones become worth.

I think the simple answer is that the manufacturers design them with the dual market in mind. x% to be played with and (100-x)% to appeal to the collectors market. It is a win-win for everyone in theory.

I would argue that new series 3.75 and 5in are more designed to be played with than classic series single figures were because they were blister sealed rather than card-sealed.

Looks like we’ll have a new Doctor figure next year. I just hope a) the 12th Doctor is good, and b) I don’t go down the same path as the Tennant fangirls and stop watching Doctor Who because I won’t like Doctor 12 as much as I did Matt.

After getting both the Doctor and Clara today, I am impressed with the level of detail (particularly Clara, I think the face is a spitting image). It has made me really disappointed with the fact that these are not 5 inch figures, even more than I was when I first found out but then again you can’t have everything it’s just very very annoying
