Character Options 2017 Doctor Who product Line to be seen first at London Toy Fair

Character Options is proud to unveil a range of new Doctor Who figures and accessories for 2017. The new collection will be available from mid spring and is to be seen for the first time at London Toy Fair on Tuesday 24th January 2017.

Heading up the range is a number of articulated figures that will be perfect for collectors. Set in the classic 5.5 inch scaling each perfectly replicates some of the favourite characters, past and present, from the show.

The Tenth Doctor in Tuxedo, available to order from www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk, is packed in collectors packaging and not only comes with a figure and a Sonic Screwdriver but for fans is one of the most requested alternate outfits; perfect to recreate scenes from “Rise of Cybermen” and “Voyage of the Damned!”

Added to this is the favoured Tenth Doctor’s Sonic with lights and sounds. For those that did not collect it first time round now’s the time to add to your collection.

Fans of the Tenth Doctor will also be keen to get their hands on The Ninth and Tenth Doctor’s TARDIS Playset. With its motorised time rotor and pulsating lights this is the ultimate playset and has an illuminated console with six control buttons, removable floor panels and flip up console panel.

Another Figure in the series is the Twelfth Doctor, as played by Peter Capaldi, in his Ninth Season hoodie and checked trousers outfit. This item also includes a new head sculpt and his brand new Sonic Screwdriver just in time for Season Ten!

For serious collectors needing every variant, there is also the Twelfth Doctor in his Ninth Season Hoodie and Black Jumper outfit, a 5.5 inch figure not to be missed.

Finally, if you are looking for a Cyberman with a difference then make sure you stretch yourself for the new Cyberman 7-inch Stretch toy! Watch with wonder as the Doctors arch enemy is stretched many times his size only to return back to his original shape and size once he is let loose.

It’ll be interesting to see whether the sizing issue that the previous four variants had has been fixed this time as judging by the pictures of them in the packaging they look the same size as the Series 8 variants.

This is referring to the two Twelfth Doctor hoodie variants if anyone’s wondering.

The Twelfth Doctor figure look amazing in these images. They look alot more like peter than the old ones. I still hope there will be something else new at the Toyfair though as they need to release more Monster/Villain figures soon. If you don’t count re-releases, then the only Monster/Villain we’ve had are the two variants of Missy, which is annoying as Doctor Who is as much about the monsters as it is the relationships, which I feel people often forget.

But not all Monsters/Aliens/Villains have bug-eyes. And having a villain would certainly be better than constant Nu-Who Doctors and companions. I mean, if we can have villains can we atleast have TV movie 7 or Jamie. I like these figures and can’t wait to buy them, but whats the point in having the Doctor if he has no enemies to fight?

Well I am very excited for these three figures! I think we should be very grateful for the two extra 12 doctors which in my opinion look absolutely fantastic in these images, at least giving his face a little more expression and likeness to Capaldi. Personally I am not too fust about the 10th doctor but certainly see the demand and “need” for this particular variant.

Okay, so I know this is a wierd one, but who else would like a 5.5 inch s7 Amy figure from The Angels Take Manhattan (I think that’s what it’s called). I loved the 3.75 fig and just wondered if anyone else wanted the same.

How difficult is it to make a 5.5 2013- Cyberman. Surely its just an upscale of the 3.75 version.

      January 22nd, 2017 - 12:53pm

they already have the renders which could be used in any scale

its the tooling where the biggest expense is and that’s not been done

I really don’t know why they haven’t done this

I would have really liked a s9 FTR Clara. Or at least a Clara with short hair to look like she’s from s9. I don’t like all the Clara’s released having long hair when it was short in s9.

    • Anonymous

      January 21st, 2017 - 8:12pm

…And I would also like to know if there is any chance we will get a proper s9 Clara figure in the future, or if they’ll skip it and move to s10 figs.

Well then, my dream 2018 (or sooner) action figure range would be:

12th Doctor Red Velvet Jacket Variant 5″
    Bill Potts 5″
Dark Eyes 8th Doctor (wildcard action figure) 5″
    12th Doctor’s Console Room

And even a step further by making the Dark Eyes 8th Doctor into a two pack alongside Alex Macqueen’s Master… Dark Eyes 3 Figure set maybe…

    • Dalek4ever

      Agreed

    • The Outcast

      January 22nd, 2017 - 12:14am

They could easily do the Alex Macqueen Master. Just get any standard suit wearing body, repaint it a bit and place a new head on (and maybe give him his tissue compression eliminator as an accessory).

    • Dalekparadigm2

      January 22nd, 2017 - 10:08am

Yeah, and even though they would have to make a new body mould, the head for 8 already exists (War Doctor spare)

    • Dalekparadigm2

      January 22nd, 2017 - 10:11am

To make a new red velvet Variant is stupidly easy now. Do it!

    • Dalekparadigm2

      For Capaldi that is

    • The Outcast

      January 22nd, 2017 - 10:38am

I didn’t mention this in my other comment, but my most wanted figure is the ‘Wheel in Space’ Cyberman. It’s the only major classic variant they need to release and it is much sought after by collectors.

I’ve always had this set IDEA: Cyberman collectors set #1:
‘Wheel in Space’ Cyberman (Height: in-between Tomb and Invasion designs)
‘Attack of the Cybermen’ Cyberleader (New head on pre-existing body)
2013-Current Cyberman (Upscale, No arm weapon and no chest-light)

If Character released this, it would sell as
      A) Its got the current Cyberman design in it
      B) The Wheel and Current Cyberman designs can be reused
      C) Collectors would love it (Completes the gap in the collection)
      D) Some new Villains, at last…

    Bill

Random figures such as tux 10…

    Donna series 4

“Stretchy Cyberman?” Whose idea was that? I can’t imagine what would make someone think there is any demand whatsoever for a stretchy Cyberman. Instead of making a massive mold for that and spending loads of money to cast memory foam, they could’ve made as smaller mold, spent less money and given us a 5.5″ Cyberman that hundreds of collectors have been requesting for ages, and hence wouldn’t be destined to end up on the shelves of Home Bargs a couple of months after release

Because of the break and broadcast time they have had plenty of time to do Pearl but they may not be able to show her publicly yet

when the show was on early in the year in the past there was plenty of stuff hidden away at the toy fair in a “secret room” because it was from episodes that had not aired yet.

Wouldn’t surprise me if some people get to see a pearl figure

I heard on the DoctorWhoToys forum that apparently the annual sonic range is re releases. Build your own sonic, journal of impossible things and 10s sonic. Can Character release stuff from the 12th Doctor’s era, it is after all, the 12th Doctor’s era. Tennant is long gone no matter how well it sells!
