This exclusive anniversary year release of the Sixth Doctor with his TARDIS comes exactly a decade and half since this figure’s first release in 2008. The Sixth Doctor was one of the most verbose, and articulate of The Doctors incarnations, and could be both melodramatic and stubborn. But despite these tendencies, under his thunderous and turbulent exterior, he was passionate, warm and empathetic.

Al Dewar Creative Director says ‘These were interesting sets to work on. Regarding the Dalek sets we’re hopping around a little this year, but it meant we could be creative and add the ‘Five Doctors’ into the History Of The Daleks Sets. As fans know this story featured one lone Dalek so it was a perfect opportunity to bring back a head sculpt created over a decade ago of the late great Richard Hurndall who played a version of the first Doctor in this story. Or … it would have done had the sculpt not been scrapped. So, not to be outdone we resurrected it in digital form, and I think it’s fair to say it’s better than the original.

‘Both the Daleks for this Set and the second ‘Revelation of the daleks’ set have been given a makeover with a mix of new parts to update the look to better match the screen used props including a lifted neck bin making them a teeny bit taller, new eyestalk, new dome lights and an updated chunkier front shoulder section on the Necros boys!

‘The final Set is The Sixth doctor and TARDIS set featuring a very different version of The Sixth Doctors costume based on one used in a Stage Play of the time. It’s a lovely figure which coupled with a delightfully shabby TARDIS which perfectly reflects the state of the prop at the time, creates a nice standout set.

‘It’s also worth mentioning fans and collectors will notice a distinct change to the packaging for these 2023 sets giving the whole range a nice facelift.’

These new sets will be available in coming weeks at local B&M Stores and with and SRP of £34.99 for the TARDIS sets and £24.99 for the Dalek Sets. (prices may differ in store)

Love it. I’m hoping to get 1 to keep boxed and take it along with me to the Scarborough Comic Con to get Colin to sign it for me.

Is the packaging same as David Bradley Tardis? No plastic film covering or protecting the figure does anyone know?

      August 16th, 2023 - 7:22pm

Looks moulded round the back of the figure with ties to hold it on.

      On ebay already for £180

Well that’s an easy pass. I’ve never liked the look of the stage costume from those photos or grainy video caps, but thought it might be more appealing in 3D/figure form. On the basis of these images, nein danke. I would have been interested if the TARDIS had a solid blue lamp (I have no idea what the stage prop was supposed to look like or how accurate to it this set is as there seem to be significantly differing images online).

On the other hand, I’m more interested in the Five Doctors set than I thought I’d be from the leaked images – that Dalek variant is quite alluring. Dalek 2 pack – dunno. I got two of the Coal Hill Set Daleks and, yes, I know it’s a different story with some variations, not enough for me to undertake the miserable, frustrating and probably inordinately costly process of trying to secure a set; I gave up trying to complete the HOTD line in early 2021. I’m assuming that these WON’T be available online as it’s an experiment B&M appeared to give up on earlier in the year?

I’m a bit baffled on the inconsistency between the yellow and (IMO preferable) blue accents on the packaging. Is the Five Doctors back blue(ish) because it’s an “anniversary” set?

      No.

      No it’s not electronic

I have already custom made a distressed 6th Doctor Tardis using the 5th Doctor one but this one is nice. I don’t really want the stage version of sixie though as I never saw it.

Still puzzled why it’s so expensive when the mould has been made many years ago. Currently using a spare Androzani Tardis for the 6th. I like the windows on this.

Its to cover the cost of the all the paint needed for the Doctors coat as well as the weathered TARDIS. Plus the fact that prices have risen in general.

Prices may vary depending on the store…

As much as I like them I never seem to see them in store. If I do ill definitely get them

  • Jonathan Spencer

    August 16th, 2023 - 4:29pm

Would prefer a more accurate 80s TARDIS. Sixie looks cool though so a win on that point

  • NoreTheNerd

    August 16th, 2023 - 4:25pm

I am really hoping they release them in most, if not all stores as my local stores never seem to get any of the Tardis or dalek sets which is really disheartening

    • Ian

      August 16th, 2023 - 4:52pm

I too would like that. I have a store near where I work, they used to sell the sets but not anymore.

although i’m not a classic dr who era fan i have to say i love the packaging for all these new b and m sets.

  • Darren

    August 16th, 2023 - 3:50pm

Exciting as it is that we’ve got some new sets, my heart still sinks at the thought of running all over trying to find them again.
B&M stores are such a pain (and expensive in travel costs) to get to for me.

If it hadn’t have been for the TARDIS set being available on the B&M website last year, I wouldn’t have got it, I never saw it in a store, so not holding out much hope this time around.

      August 16th, 2023 - 8:14pm

Like a spider in a web (lol) I live surrounded by about 6 B&M stores, all between 5 and 10 miles away, so I’ve always managed to find sets. However, I have had to drive around a lot, so I seriously wonder how much I’ve ended up spending over the odds in petrol. Sometimes I wonder if it might be cheaper simply to buy them from Ebay, but the fact that I’m paying somebody who’s gone around the stores buying up the stock so he can rip people off galls me. So I guess I’ll keep paying the petrol money!

    • Darren

      August 17th, 2023 - 9:20am

I agree Spacewarp. I don’t drive so its buses and trains all the way. It would probably be cheaper to just buy one on ebay, but like you say I’d rather not encourage shelf clearers.

    • Martino

      August 17th, 2023 - 11:16am

I live a 24 minute walk from my local B&M, which is also on the route to work, but even checking in store twice daily at one point the sets either sold out really fast or weren’t ordered by my branch. I seem to be one of those rare people who actually shops at B&M for other stuff, but it can still be soul destroying all the same. On the other hand, most of my other collections are of things that aren’t stocked in UK shops at all, so ordering online, or eBay, eBid, Gumtree and a few Asian equivalents are my only options.

    August 16th, 2023 - 3:44pm

Can I just mention the model of the Dalek spacecraft from Remembrance?!!!! Wow!!!! When is that coming out?!

    • Martino

      August 16th, 2023 - 3:52pm

Yeah, I was looking at the Imperial Shuttle too, Al being a bit of a tease, or are CO planning a Sixteen12 type range??

    • HS

      August 16th, 2023 - 4:06pm

no one said that was a retail item xD

    • JRT!

      August 16th, 2023 - 8:09pm

Wish someone would tell us though,so we don’t get our hopes up,lol.

    • Mauve & Dangerous

      August 16th, 2023 - 10:17pm

Why…..Al Dewar knows what we are like & why deliberately have that Shuttle with four story specific Daleks next to it & not mention or reference it once….?

That’s one heck of a tease.

  • Lewis frisby

    August 16th, 2023 - 3:42pm

In the reveal video, there is a remembrance of the Daleks imperial shuttle. Could that be a future character online exclusive?

  • Ian

    August 16th, 2023 - 3:22pm

But the mould for this Tardis was made years ago….No one noticed the Dalek shuttle from Rememberance?

    • Paddy Troughton

      August 16th, 2023 - 3:45pm

Pretty difficult to not notice the dalek shuttle Haha. It looks amazing can imagine its Al’s on personal model. No chance they would give us one to buy but would love to be proven wrong.

  • Mauve & Dangerous

    August 16th, 2023 - 3:18pm

Some clown already is advertising these sets as a pre order on eBay….seriously :-/

  • Martino

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:48pm

Oh very nice. I can see this TARDIS becoming one of those ‘chase’ items on eBay though. Priced at the equivalent of 9 Costa Coffee café latte’s, good value IMO.

  • Richard T

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:41pm

As Peri could’ve said about that Sixth Doctor costume. Yuck!

  • bryan

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:39pm

Love love love This. As many variation of ole sixie as they can make I will have. This is superb.

Makes me smile ( eek price point) Tardises are expensive .

  • cosmosboy98

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:38pm

These seem quite fun releases, but the price increases mean around £85 quid for the 3 sets, so around £14 per figure. That doesn’t feel in keeping with terming these as “budget” sets. I’ve never bought the Warriors of Deep set cos I think they’re overpriced for 3 nearly identical figures. In comparison to these, WoD suddenly looks better value for money…

    • cosmosboy98

      August 16th, 2023 - 2:43pm

Should add I’m more than happier with the higher price point if the quality reflects (Regeneration Set, Abominable Snowman etc.) but feels like we are being taken for a ride when the price points of the budget line and online exclusive lines are merging…

    • booboo

      August 16th, 2023 - 2:51pm

B&M will pay £1’s for these and want good money from them for their investment , All Full profit goes to Character with the exclusives, a Massive and huge difference.

    • cosmosboy98

      August 16th, 2023 - 2:59pm

Point taken booboo, but does that still make this a “budget” line? Or is your argument it is a budget line for Character that B&M have marked up, which makes me wonder in this case how much of a mark up B&M have taken…

    • booboo

      August 16th, 2023 - 3:03pm

Budget is what B&M are prepared to pay, which won’t be much i can tell you.

No company is going to commission 40K figure sets (with all the risk being theirs ) without it being very worthwhile for them.

    • Bobby Davros

      August 16th, 2023 - 3:51pm

The extra paint ops on the costume probably accounts for an extra couple of quid in themselves.

    • Enough for 2 letters

      August 16th, 2023 - 3:58pm

People still holding on to “budget” as a source to complain about prices need to face facts, they stopped being that years ago after the first Tardis packs went viral on ebay……….

Lets put it into perspective eh? A standard figure in Forbidden planet can retail from £9.99-£34.99 depending on brand/popularity and are nowhere as intricate as these. These figures are special as time is taken to make new and interesting figures that you see the value, in a world where star wars figures are descending into cheap parody of themselves we should be VERY grateful – officially speaking the two packs mean £12.50 a figure – still very modest compared to other franchises. The tardis being £20 on its own and 6 being £15 in that pack again isnt that bad. In a world of price increases and cost of living etc etc etc, to get a 6th doctor figure is just crazy.

This 6th doctor is a whovians dream, a long lost and forgotten moment in time captured only in poor quality photos taken by kids and fans, wonderfully resurrected to enjoy and adding a new layer of intrigue and mystery to new fans who have no clue about the ultimate adventure

Im sorry if you cant afford them all but lets not drag down the great news…………………………….

    • cosmosboy98

      August 16th, 2023 - 4:30pm

Bobby Davros agreed the Sixth Doc paint apps may add a small amount to cost, but don’t believe that alone added £10.

“Enough for 2 letters” Please don’t mark my comment as a complaint; I have the right to express my opinion as you do. Neither did I say I can’t afford them, just that personally I don’t think the price point reflects the quality. Agreed a TARDIS unit would cost more than the individual figures, but lets be clear – this figure is your Whovian dream, it certainly won’t be everyone’s, and that’s ok.

  • Sime

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:31pm

Actually, the more I look at it the more I like this costume. I’m sold!

  • grantp

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:30pm

Really like this and the new packaging but £35?? ..guess if we want these to continue then guess we got to pay

    • Martino

      August 16th, 2023 - 3:12pm

Is £35 so much nowadays? Price of 3 large scented candles in Sainsbury’s, or 9 medium coffees, or a Lego set in Argos. All collectors have to budget, make sacrifices, whatever they collect …

    • Bobby Davros

      August 16th, 2023 - 3:19pm

Or one deluxe Marvel Legend of Star Wars Black Series figure.

    • Enough for 2 letters

      August 16th, 2023 - 4:00pm

£35 is VERY reasonable, if Forbidden planet had these, it would be £49.99 minimum with £7 delivery………

  • Doctor Mysterio

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:28pm

I love this set. Here’s hoping I don’t have to pay double the price on Ebay like I did for the Unearthly Child TARDIS…

  • Sime

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:22pm

Love the Tardis. I’m not totally into the 6th Doctors look here (I prefer the classic look) but as a variation of him, it’s an interesting choice. Plus it is THE Colin Baker, so has to be done really! (And I know I will regret it if I don’t get him!)

  • Jamie

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:22pm

    Looks absolutely beautiful.

  • Anonymous

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:19pm

Sorry to be negative… But its a £10 increase for a non-electronic tardis?

    • John

      August 16th, 2023 - 3:07pm

I’ve heard the other was incorrectly priced last year and they couldn’t change it.

  • Daniel Bretherton

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:18pm

Do we know when they will hit the shelves?

  • Ian

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:18pm

Why is it so expensive at £34.99

    • Whovian

      August 16th, 2023 - 2:25pm

Probably due to inflation, on the other hand it does say that the prices may differ in store, so that’s a bonus

    • Enough for 2 letters

      August 16th, 2023 - 4:01pm

Its not expensive, its a reasonable price for the world we live in today.

£4.70 for a coffee no one complains about two figures for £35, the world ends

    • Rex F

      August 17th, 2023 - 3:05pm

People pay £4.70 for a coffee?! There’s a whole other world out there I know nothing about… (A world I won’t be visiting.)

Finally, the 6th Doctor gets a TARDIS! lol. 😀

  • Whovian

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:14pm

    Cadbury’s presents the Sixth Doctor

The colours literally remind me of a bar of Cadbury’s chocolate

    • pupbenny

      August 16th, 2023 - 2:24pm

Lol!! Speaking of which, I guess there is a slight resemblance to Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka.

    • Whovian

      August 16th, 2023 - 2:39pm

pupbenny, yes! That’s what I was thinking of, he just needs the top hat and a walking stick, maybe paint his hair light-ish brown-ish and it’s Gene Wilder with the TARDIS!

  • NoreTheNerd

    August 16th, 2023 - 2:13pm

If I only manage to get one set I hope it’s this one, fingers crossed

    • Peter C

      August 16th, 2023 - 7:28pm

All these releases look good, finally a Sixth Doctor and TARDIS! Interesting variant too. Surprised and pleased to see a Hurndall Doctor released as for some reason I thought they’d skip 5 Doctors in the HOTD sets. The only problem is trying to get a hold of them for a reasonable price as they’ve not been available in my local b and m for years whenever a new wave is released!
