B&M 2021 History of the Daleks #8 Figure Set
Character Options is excited to announce a next wave of Doctor Who action figure sets for 2021 with five new lines scheduled to arrive in B&M stores in Mid-October.
The line-up will introduce two more action figure three packs, two further ‘History of the Daleks’ sets, plus a rather splendid “Doctor & TARDIS” set. This new wave includes highly detailed and decorated 5.5 inch scale figures with multiple points of articulation all of which come packaged in the familiar ‘heritage’ style Doctor Who collector packs with specially created insert artwork. Once again these Limited Edition figure sets all bring something fresh to the range be it the characters themselves or variants never released before.
07440 History Daleks #8 Planet of the Daleks 1972 collector figure set
This 1972 Dalek story was wildly ambitious in scope, intending to feature a full Dalek Army. The existing three props were therefore bulked out by the arrival of brand new Dalek props. The episode also gave the Daleks new voices.
In the story the Daleks have enslaved the Planet Spiradon, and are carrying out experiments into invisibility and biological weapons. Meanwhile a group of Thals from the Daleks’ home planet are already trying to thwart their plans, but unbeknown, there is an army of 10,000 Daleks hidden on the planet. This ‘army builder’ set features two ‘drone’ style Daleks as seen in the story in their full black and metallic grey splendour. Both Daleks also have new eyestalks based on one of the variants seen onscreen. Never have the Daleks looked so purposeful, militaristic and threatening onscreen.
Al Dewar Character Options’ Creative Director said: “I think it is safe to say this swathe of releases is very different from the first release and features some truly unique characters and ‘Big hitters’. This line up represents some of the finest episodes of the Fifth Doctor, Cyber Androids with interchangeable ‘attack’ hands, a Raston Warrior Robot and a new First Doctors TARDIS that’s not just a repaint! In the Daleks sets we have also delivered something new for fans again with some truly nefarious Daleks and the first real ‘army builder’ set. We hope that our fans and followers enjoy them!”

April 1st, 2022 - 12:40pmI’d like to see the ‘Genesis’, ‘Destiny’, ‘Resurrection’, ‘Revelation’ and ‘Remembrance’ history sets with one Dalek and one Davros in each set. We really need those Davros figures re-released.

June 21st, 2022 - 8:39pmEver since I went in the doctor who exhibition at Blackpool in the 1970s as a kid I’ve had a dalek obsession I’m in my 50s now and I still love them more from the old school era than the modern version served up now
Jeff
January 18th, 2022 - 3:01pmIf anyone is in the North-west of England and is still after this Planet of the Daleks set or the Evil of the Daleks set, the B&M at Riverside Retail Park had a few of each in this morning.
They also had stock of the Five Doctors set with Cyber Leader, Earthshock set.
Voord and Sensorites sets were on the shelves in greater numbers and at the lower prices (£12.99 I think)
Good luck!

November 23rd, 2021 - 1:04pmIt was from David Bickerstaff’s account, he tweeted a photograph of the ‘Planet fo the Daleks’ set on Saturday evening saying he got it in London last week. He said there was a few of them. B&M Willesden Green might’ve put them out early.

November 23rd, 2021 - 1:55pmstrange that as of Saturday 20th they had not even arrived in the warehouse and no one else seems to have seen them anywhere, non on ebay which is the best indicator that stock is not out there

November 27th, 2021 - 4:10pmThere is a possibility that he customised those Daleks himself.

November 27th, 2021 - 8:31pmWillesden Green is my local B&M, I will check tomorrow – but generally, this branch doesn’t carry Doctor Who sets. The last they had in were the Coal Hill set.

November 12th, 2021 - 2:32amWill there be a red dalek for the daleks master plan
Dave
November 12th, 2021 - 3:17pmI believe this red dalek appeared only on the Target novelisation front cover- it didn’t actually appear on TV so unfortunately no!
HS
November 12th, 2021 - 3:41pmThey’ve already done a The Daleks’ Master Plan set, so unlikely.
John
November 23rd, 2021 - 11:07amAs one didn’t appear in it, no. And Masterplan has been and gone!
HS
November 24th, 2021 - 8:22pmThere was a red Dalek in it actually, but it was in black & white so….

October 27th, 2021 - 1:54pmMid October….it’s already the 27th! Any update?

October 27th, 2021 - 2:00pmIts been mentioned looking like mid to late november time.

October 27th, 2021 - 3:28pmMid October came from the best available information at the time via an official Press release from Character’s PR company
We all should know there are delays outside of their control with shipping containers and delivery drivers. This is affecting multiple suppliers.
The next “expected” date shwoing is the 22nd November according to employees posting on social media.

The Werewolf
October 11th, 2021 - 12:47amDrat, now I’ll never find Set 7 in store
simon hanlon
October 3rd, 2021 - 8:21pmi think some of the b&m exclusive sets look good but others not bothered about. after the last set of exclusives that half the stores never even got. it’s now put me off trying to get them. which is a shame because there was only that i really wanted to get from the previous sets.
pupbenny
October 3rd, 2021 - 12:40amThere’s a lot of stories where I think they could’ve done the same Dalek twice, but this is one where, even with the drones, I feel like they could’ve done a slight difference. Like I really like the ‘goon’ eyestalks, but it would’ve been nice to have one that had the normal eyestalk too. Then people would’ve bought too to army build on that specific type. 🙂
Coleman
October 12th, 2021 - 10:22amLooking at them like that ergon, the “Jungles” Dalek looks very nice in his Silver, Gold And blue outfit.
The Evil Dalek
October 2nd, 2021 - 7:21pmI’m just going to give my theories for what we might be getting for future sets:
#9). Planet of the Daleks No. 2 – Supreme & Invisible Daleks
#10). Death to the Daleks – Orange Dome Light & Drone (with either normal or machine guns)
#11). Genesis of the Daleks – 2 Drones
#12). Destiny of the Daleks – Drone with Black Slats, Oval, Band & Suicide Dalek
#13). Resurrection of the Daleks – Supreme Dalek & Red/Clear Dome Light Drone
#14). Revelation of the Daleks – Necros & Skaro Daleks
#15). Remembrance of the Daleks No. 1 – Drone Imperial & Renegade Daleks
#16). Remembrance of the Daleks No. 2 – Supreme Renegade Dalek & Imperial Special Weapons Dalek OR Imperial Emperor Davros
#17). Dalek – Damaged Metaltron Dalek & Repaired Metaltron Dalek
#18). The Parting of the Ways – Imperial Commander & Guard Daleks (What attachment’s they’d have, I don’t know)
#19). Doomsday – Dalek Sec & Dalek Jast OR Dalek Sec & Dalek Thay
#20). Evolution of the Daleks – Dalek Caan & Damaged Dalek Thay OR Dalek Caan & Dalek Jast
#21). Journey’s End – Supreme & Crucible Daleks
#22). Victory of the Daleks No. 1 – Ironside Daleks with & Without Ear Covers
#23). Victory of the Daleks No. 2 – Supreme Dalek & Scientist Daleks
#24). City of the Daleks game (I couldn’t think of anything else to get the rest of Paradigm Out) – Strategist & Drone Daleks
#25). The Big Bang – Eternal & Stone Daleks
#26). Asylum of the Daleks No. 1 – Parliament Strategist & Drone Daleks
#27). Asylum of the Daleks No. 2 – Asylum Daleks (Many choices to choose from – Would personally choose the Rusty ‘Death’ Dalek and RTD’s Dalek)
#28). Into the Dalek – Rusty the Good Dalek & Normal Drone Dalek
#29). The Withes Familiar – Black Topped ‘Dead Planet’ Dalek & Normal ‘Dead Planet’ Dalek with blue mid-section
#30). Revolution of the Daleks Set – Security Force (Safe Blue & Weaponised Red) Daleks
Coleman
October 2nd, 2021 - 9:28pmI’m just glad where out of the sixties now, so no more powder blue and Silver Daleks.
Dalek Eye Stalk
October 4th, 2021 - 2:13pmLikely only 6 more B&M History Dalek sets I reckon.
#9 Death to the Daleks
#10 Genesis of the Daleks
#11 Destiny of the Daleks
#12 Resurrection of the Daleks
#13 Revelation of the Daleks
#14 Remembrance of the Daleks
That’s probably it. There’s much more focus on classic Doctor Who at B&M.
Fin
October 4th, 2021 - 5:28pmI agree with the classic ones but I think when we get to NuWho they’ll more likely release them per series as opposed to per story because of instances such as “Dalek” and “Resolution.” Something more like:
“Series 1” – Bronze Dalek and Emperor’s Guard
“Series 2” – Dalek Sec and Dalek Thay/Jaast/Caan (up to chance, similar to the T5D set cyberman/cyberleader)
“Series 3” – Human Sec and Damaged Dalek Thay
“Series 4” – Supreme Dalek and Crucible Dalek
And so on so forth. I do also think the previous commenter has a point that maybe B&M HOTD sets will end after Remembrance, but I can see NuWho dalek sets coming straight from CO’s website.
Sherlocked
October 4th, 2021 - 7:30pm@Dalek Eye Stalk
Planet of the Daleks Set 2 has been confirmed, and I can see them doing two sets for Remembrance with Renegade and Imperial Daleks. So 8 more? Unless they go into nu series which I can also see happening, albeit as online exclusives
David Minter
October 4th, 2021 - 10:13pmTo mix up the Genesis set, I think a good idea would be one regular Dalek and one without its gun attachment in place. The separated gun attachment Dalek was already done before with the Fourth Doctor And Dalek set from a few years ago, so the mold’s basically already in place.
Philip Shaw
October 5th, 2021 - 1:58pmThey had the perfect opportunity to do a gun less Dalek for the ‘Power of the Daleks’ set, but chose not to, probably so as not to upset army builders.
David Minter
October 5th, 2021 - 5:34pmI, too, commented that the Power set should have consisted of the mutant scoop Dalek and a gunless one. Or release the regular drone along with the gunless one.
Since they seem to be doing a Planet Of The Daleks set #2, there would have been a good opportunity for a Power Of The Daleks set #2 to include the gunless one.
Coleman
October 5th, 2021 - 6:02pmI can see Dalek Eye Stalks point about B&M concentrating on Classic Who as it does seem to sell better than Nu Who in any form.
But Daleks are Daleks, wether classic or Nu Who, they will sell and B&M will make all these sets like The Evil Dalek as mentioned.
Coleman
October 9th, 2021 - 11:50amRoll on the Paradigm Daleks, I love those, also include the stone version in these HOTD sets..
I know their not everyone’s cup of tea, but I rather liked them. Better than turning out one bronze Dalek after another.
the ergon
October 9th, 2021 - 1:45pmBronze and grey Daleks are my least favourites. I was watching Resurrection the other day and after the supreme dalek from planet realised The supreme from resurrection has now become
my second fave. Black with white Hemispheres works. In Third place the daleks from ‘Death.
Coleman
October 11th, 2021 - 1:04pmI don’t usually like choosing between Daleks ergon.
But if I had to it would be the Remembrance Daleks, White with Gold hemispheres. (How cool).
Also to have this livery on Davros and a SWD aswell as the Standard Dalek.
Total badass.
the ergon
October 11th, 2021 - 2:29pmSWD was my second favourite coleman but when you are able to view them all from the cabinet or wherever you display them, you know yourself which colours work well together and are more pleasing to the eye.
Dalek Eye Stalk
October 12th, 2021 - 1:05pmAlways liked the Silver Daleks from ‘Death to the Daleks’ best. Always liked the story ‘Death to the Daleks’ too!
Some Boi Online
October 2nd, 2021 - 12:33pmEven if they’re saving the Supreme and Lightwave Daleks for set #9, still disappointing they didn’t have the door cutter dalek in here – with the silver “spike” instead of the plunger.
Judooning
October 2nd, 2021 - 10:25amIt’s been confirmed by Al that this is set 1. So a second set for this story is on the way at some point!
This set gives us our standard Drones. Set 2 will presumably give us a Supreme Dalek and either the lightwave Dalek or a variation of another Drone Dalek.
Wonder if set 2 will be a CO online exclusive like they did with the Chase/Jungles sets
Philip shaw
October 2nd, 2021 - 11:25amPerhaps next year first batch ‘planet of the Daleks’ set 2, and Death to the Daleks. Second batch ‘Genesis’ and ‘Destiny’s.
Adam Holwell
October 2nd, 2021 - 12:54pmWait Al Dewar actually confirmed that! If it’s true I am so so so excited!
Supremedalek101
October 8th, 2021 - 7:02pmJust because its set 1 doesn’t mean it will be another dalek set it could be a planet of the daleks 3 pack with 5th doctor, jo grant and someone else because i highly doubt they would redo the light wave as that was a toys r us exclusive and they are have only redone one that was a toys r us exclusive and that was the supreme from the Daleks masterplan so they are tending to avoid redoing ones that have been toys r us exclusives and the supreme dalek judging by how much the original is i highly doubt they would redo that
The Werewolf
October 1st, 2021 - 11:24pmHopefully this will reduce the amount of people buying the Day set and listing the Gold one on ebay.
Though I am disappointed in the lack of Supreme of course.
Spacewarp
October 14th, 2021 - 4:15pmExactly what I was thinking, Werewolf. Though judging by the increasing number of gold Daleks now appearing on ebay, nobody wants to wait!
Peter C
October 1st, 2021 - 11:12pmDisappointed the Supreme Dalek isn’t there, but if they start releasing them with Drs like the Capaldi and Davros from last year, then I wouldn’t mind another Third Dr with the Supreme Dalek at some point. Drs 4-7 could come with their version of Davros and a Second Dr & Dalek Emperor from ‘Evil…’ could be an online exclusive.
Haza14
October 1st, 2021 - 11:11pmAre these the same as the Drone Dalek in the Day of the Daleks set?
Haza14
October 1st, 2021 - 11:14pmAh should have read it better, so these have different eye stalks but otherwise identical?
Joe2047
October 1st, 2021 - 11:52pmI think the top half of the fender is painted gray this time instead of black, also their ball joints and guns are a different colour
Persona
October 2nd, 2021 - 1:31amIt’s difficult to say if there are any more differences, I did notice that the base seems to be a lighter shade of grey.
David Minter
October 1st, 2021 - 10:16pmWhile I can appreciate releasing army builder sets for Daleks, I would have liked to have seen the Supreme Dalek re-released for those who failed to get the Dalek 3 pack from like a decade ago.
Again, of course, I’ll be getting a set, though. 🙂
the ergon
October 1st, 2021 - 10:20pmMaybe next year. I,d have preferred one half of one of these to be clear to denote part invisibility.
pupbenny
October 2nd, 2021 - 12:02amI’ve heard that Al Dewar has said this is the FIRST Planet Of The Daleks set, indicating there will be another. 🙂
pupbenny
October 1st, 2021 - 10:06pmSo they’re both exactly the same?
Persona
October 1st, 2021 - 10:03pmWhile it is nice that we are finally getting Warrior Daleks from this story I do feel they missed a step by not including the Supreme Dalek.
Robert Watkins
October 1st, 2021 - 9:52pmI suspect the Supreme will be released at some point with the invisible/sprayed Dalek
Century 22 Productions
October 1st, 2021 - 10:12pmMaybe they may come as like an online CO exclusive for the Daleks that have been missed out, say as electronic Daleks?
The Outcast
October 2nd, 2021 - 6:48amFrom the sound of things, there’s a second set based off this story coming next year, featuring the Supreme Dalek.
Mrs Croot
October 1st, 2021 - 9:37pmThis is one of the most disapointin things i have seen character do. Forget splitting up the 60’s daleks, they were splitting up the 70’s ones, yes, a different eye stalk, but wow, can’t complain with the brilliant first wave this year, but expected more from this set.
Doc
October 1st, 2021 - 10:12pmI agree, this set had so much potential, yet CO just releases two drone daleks. They could’ve released the Supreme Dalek for crying out loud!
Peter C
October 1st, 2021 - 11:16pmI still like the look of this set, I just hope that there are some available, as they’ve blatantly been set up for army building, so there’s even more chance of someone just clearing the shelves of these as there isn’t a slight variant in this set, as in the Power/Daleks set. An excellent Dalek design though.
