November 5th, 2025 - 11:06amSFX magazine lists all the extras and the pdfs but unfortunately doesn’t list which specific episodes have commentaries when there is more than 1 commentary on a disc and who is in them. I have been able to piece the redemption one (from an unboxing video) as well as the keeper (mentioned on Toby hadoke’s appearance on radio free skaro that it was Sally’s suggestion). Horizon is mentioned but with no names. There is still 1 other to be revealed. Out of a process of elimination it’s probably star one. There are 7 commentaries in total with no repeats. Both stories of disc 1 redemption and shadow have. Disc 2 has horizon. Disc 3 has trial. Discs 4 and 5 don’t have any commentaries listed. The last disc mentions commentaries. Gambit got 1 on the dvd and the keeper got a new one. Thats 6. Just leaves star one.

September 25th, 2025 - 9:51amThose big finish audios are fantastic ,and to have those animated would be something special indeed. I’m sure it’s a long shot so we can live in hope, but then again I thought Blake’s 7 bluray remasters alone was just a dream years ago,but with all the love ,effort and attention it’s just incredible! You never know.
Gordon
September 26th, 2025 - 1:35amI’d love to see it but I’m not quite sure how possible it is. BBC studios only has the physical media rights of the original episodes due to the vhs releases. They didn’t retain the broadcast rights after broadcast. Nation got to keep those.
plus warship was produced at a time where the rights were with B7 media (the cd box has their logo on it) which may complicate things and assuming their contract is for audio only might even more complicate it.
The rights for b7 has been a bit of a pass the parcel minefield. Nation had it, his estate had it after he passed on, b7 media bought it before the nation estate eventually getting the rights back. There may have been others. That doesn’t include Paul Darrow who fell out with b7 media and thus wasn’t able to contribute much on the first 2 series dvd releases. Plus sky was also after it for an attempted reboot.
Ricky
October 2nd, 2025 - 9:59pmCheers for that info Gordon ,I didn’t realise things were that complicated .
Whatever happened to that reboot attempt? Seemed to be on the cards but then seemed to fizzle out and didn’t get mentioned again .
Gordon
October 3rd, 2025 - 8:46amI don’t think it really got that far in discussions. Personally I think any attempted remake or reboot is a mistake. Most of the original cast are irreplaceable. Good luck trying to replace Darrow or Thomas or Pearce or keating to just name just 4. A 50 year on continuation with a new set of rebels inspired by the events of the original series has more appeal for me.
Ricky
October 3rd, 2025 - 11:47amI would of been curious to see it but for me it wouldn’t of come close to the original series,it’s something you cannot recreate ,these classics are one off treasures , and not always by design in the first place .
Of course something that continues the story is a great idea ,but that’s a very difficult thing to do and get right ,and appeal to old and new audiences at the same time, I think it’s best it never got of the ground.
Gordon
September 22nd, 2025 - 1:10amJust had a thought. Maybe they could do a 5th box set with the 4 vhs compilations and include the optional effects from the previous season sets and produce new biographies (if not covered and other documentaries. I even have a name:
Blake’s 7: Legacy
Disc 1: The Beginning: (footage from: The Way Back, Spacefall, Cygnus Alpha and Time Squad)
Bonus:
optional new effects
VHS quality version
Biography
Disc 2: Duel: (Footage from Seek–Locate–Destroy, Duel and Project Avalon)
Bonus:
optional new effects
VHS quality version
Biography
Disc 3: orac: (containing footage from Deliverance, Orac and Redemption
Bonus:
optional new effects
VHS quality version
Biography
Disc 4: the aftermath: (containing footage from Aftermath, Powerplay and Sarcophagus)
Bonus:
optional new effects
VHS quality version
Biography
Disc 5:
A novel approach: history of Blake’s 7 in various books magazines and other forms. Also cover the excellent b7 diary’s.
A rebellion fit for audio: history of b7 on audio
The collectors: Blake 7 edition.
Strike back?: the history of attempted reboots over the years
Who are you?: a feature looking at the various doctor who guest stars and comparisons.
Federation propaganda: Blake’s 7 in the press (think tomorrows times but a Blake 7 version of it)
Disc 6:
A special dimension: the making of the new special edition effects
Split screen comparison of the new effects
As for biographies a choice of these. Bear in mind there is a good chance at least some of them will get done for s3 or 4 and some may get done for doctor who instead (nation/maloney/simpson)

September 22nd, 2025 - 9:05pmWell thought out Gordon , if anything like this would come about it would be a day one purchase for me!
I remember those compilation videos well ,exciting times. If they did the VHS quality versions imagine those on a 65 inch oled! Lol.

September 23rd, 2025 - 12:38amI agree with Both Gordon and Ricky, my First experience proper with any Blake’s 7 adventure was the Aftermath Tape (though later in life found a lot of confusion that it added ‘Sarcophagus’ which to my knowledge had nothing to do with ‘Aftermath’ and ‘Power Play’ in plot, always thought it should have ‘Star One’ instead but i digress) but as well, I’d love to see an idea I put forward when they first Announced Series 1 come to fruition… Either use a telesnap idea or even as a Blu-Ray Exclusive for the Legacy Boxset, Animate the Bridging story of Series 2 & 3, Warship… Beautiful audio that gave us the adventure between Star One and Aftermath that we never got on TV…. Especially if they can get it done alongside a few DW animations and work with Big Finish
