Big Finish Torchwood Among Us Part 1

Available to order from www.bigfinish.com

The Torchwood Story Continues!

Eve Myles makes an epic return as Gwen Cooper in Torchwood: Among Us, the hotly anticipated new series of full-cast audio adventures from Big Finish Productions.

In 2017, Big Finish picked up the Torchwood baton – officially continuing the Doctor Who spin-off with two acclaimed series of audio dramas. And the secret alien hunters are reporting for duty once again in a trio of exciting box sets, set for release in May, June and July 2023.

Torchwood are on the run. As the world puts itself back together, Torchwood are there to pick up the pieces. And they find something nasty hiding in them.

The first Among Us box set reunites Eve Myles (Broadchurch, Keeping Faith) and Kai Owen (Hollyoaks) in Tim Foley’s adventure Misty Eyes, which finds Gwen and Rhys now living a peaceful life together in Iceland. A life that is about to get turned upside down!

Eve Myles said: “Gwen is a beacon. She’s that person keeping an eye on everything. She can go to the ends of the Earth but she’ll always be Torchwood. Gwen is in my DNA and I love her DNA.”

Producer and Script Editor James Goss added: “It’s wonderful that Eve Myles found the time to reunite with Kai Owen to kick off Torchwood Among Us. We’ve been sat on this coup for some time now, and it’s great that people are finally going to find out what brings Gwen Cooper back into the world of Torchwood.”

Torchwood: Among Us Part 1, 2, and 3, are each available to pre-order as a collector’s edition CD box set (+ download for just £27.99) or as a digital download only (for just £19.99) per title from www.bigfinish.com.

Big Finish listeners can save money by pre-ordering all three volumes together in a bundle for just £75 (collector’s edition CD box set + download) or £59 (download only).

Torchwood contains adult material and may not be suitable for younger listeners.

All the above prices include the special pre-order discount and are subject to change after general release.

Big Finish is currently operating a digital-first release schedule. The mail-out of collector’s edition CDs may be delayed due to factors beyond our control, but all purchases of this release unlock a digital copy that can be immediately downloaded or played on the Big Finish app from the release date.

Good news that one of the ‘absent’ main cast members is back. As good as the Torchwood Big Finish Range has historically been to date there has recently been (by necessity, I guess) some ‘padding’. There are only so many ‘Queen Victoria’ or other such stories before the range seems strained IMO.

First thing I thought when seeing the cover was ‘wow that kid spray painted that logo really neatly’.

Series 5 was Aliens Among Us
Series 6 was God Among Us
No “thing” Among Us for Series 7 makes it seem like something’s missing.

I’m a bit lost of the post-Miracle Day chronology. What’s the best listening order – and have those John Barrowman books and comics been erased from the canon?

I’m not sure if they’re compatible but in any case, Exodus Code/the comics are set closer to Miracle Day than the audios (no dates are given but the book/comics feel like a 2012/13 continuation of Torchwood, audios are distinctly late 10s era reboot)

They haven’t been erased (even though Twitter idiots have tried).

Barrowmans books and comics happen soon after Miracle Day.

      Then I think its’s:
      – Forgotten Lives
      – More Than This
      – Ghost Mission
      – Made You Look
      – Visiting Hours
      – We Always Get Out Alive
      – Goodbye Piccadilly
      – Night of the Fendahl
      – Smashed
      – Aliens Among Us
      – Sargasso
      – God Among Us

The BBC audiobooks set after Miracle Day take place pretty soon after the series ended, beginning weeks after and ending leading up The Exodus Code.

The Exodus Code takes place a few months after Miracle Day.

Then you have Forgotten Lives and More Than This which take place around 2016.

The Comics take place after Forgotten Lives and More Than This and alongside some of the main range audios.

Then Aliens Among Us takes place after the comics and references them.

An episode of Aliens Among Us directly references those comics so nope, those comics are still canon if you want!
