Big Finish First Doctor Knights of the Round Tardis

Available to order from www.bigfinish.com
David Bradley leads the cast of The First Doctor Unbound: Knights of the Round TARDIS, an epic full-cast audio adventure, released today from Big Finish Productions.

The First Doctor and his companions, Susan (Claudia Grant), Barbara (Jemma Powell) and Ian (Jamie Glover) head to medieval England in today’s brand-new audio drama. Here, famed nobleman Simon de Montfort (Joseph Millson) is laying the foundations for British democracy – but all that could be at risk thanks to a troublesome friar known as Roger Bacon (Keith Wickham).

The Doctor soon discovers that this friar is in fact a meddling individual from his own alien race. Can the Time Lord and his friends stop the Monk and keep history on track?

Knights of the Round TARDIS, written by LR Hay, is the first in a trilogy of audio adventures, which are set aside from the main Doctor Who continuity and inspired by the epic, colourful 1960s movies starring Peter Cushing.

This looks so similar to The Crusade. Shame they can’t get this cast to remake this lost story. Even for just the 2 missing episodes. I know David is older then when he was in Adventure in Space and Time. Be a nice treat to release as a solo release instead of animation.
Plus a director has said it would be hard to animate due to costumes and characters so a remake would be even more better/easier to do. Yes a pipe dream before people say not possible.
Do the normal DVD/BluRay/SteelBook release then could be added to the S2 Collection rerelease. Could even broadcast on BBC Four on Two to reach a wider audience. See if Disney would be intrested in Rest of the World broadcast which could lower production cost for BBC. Probably not atm as not made a decision on main show so probably not an option anyways.

Could even do a Tales of the TARDIS minisode with Carole Ann Ford reprising Susan and David portraying the Doctor. Simple explanation for looking different be same as Time Crash episode (time differential etc).

Could also have a nod to William Russel and have his son have a role in episodes.
Whereas Adventure was almost 1.5 hours these 2 eps only 50 mins combined. Would also be an easier remake then doing a full story like Marco Polo.

    Pipe dream…..

It would cost far too much to do even just the two missing episodes. Every role would have to be recast, you would have to build every set or even more expensive go on locations, you would have to recreate every costume and prop. It would never be cost effective.
