Big Finish / Escape Hunt Time Lord Victorious Genetics of the Daleks

Tom Baker to star in new Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious audio drama, Genetics of the Daleks Tom Baker is set to join BBC Studios’ multi-platform Doctor Who adventure in an all-new, full-cast audio drama from Big Finish Productions –Genetics of the Daleks.

There are 10,000 humans in stasis aboard Starship Future. Ten thousand humans expecting to wake up on a distant planet, their new home. But twenty years into their journey, Starship Future takes on board fuel –and something else. Something that’s been waiting, frozen in space, for a very long time.

Something malevolent. Something with a plan. Unless the Doctor can help, it looks like the people of Starship Future have no future at all…

Genetics of the Daleks has been created in partnership with Escape Hunt, the company behind the escape room, A Dalek Awakens, and can be enjoyed either as a prequel to the experience or as a stand alone adventure.

Actor Tom Baker said: “Of all the monsters in all of Doctor Who, I’ve no doubt that the Daleks are the most successful, and this story is really rather good at showing why. You see, even a solitary, seemingly dead Dalek is a deadly enemy. But after a while, old enemies can become old friends. I’m very fond of these villains, because without them I couldn’t win, and be the hero. I have two little Daleks by my bedside. They’ve become my closest friends. I look at them and I’m filled with a warm glow.”

Due for release on 10th December 2020, Genetics of the Daleks also stars Pippa Haywood(Bodyguard, Green Wing), Clive Mantle (Alien 3, Game of Thrones),Nina Toussaint – White (Doctor Who, Game Face,) and Andrew James Spooner(Firestorm). James Goss, Producer of Time Lord Victorious, said: “It’s thrilling to see the Fourth Doctor blunder into Time Lord Victorious, encountering the last survivor of the Dalek Time Squad and taking on its deadly scheme. The script works brilliantly as a stand alone story, but also expands the Time Lord Victorious universe and sets up the A Dalek Awakens escape room. It’s full of clues for both.”

Time Lord Victorious: Genetics of the Daleks is now available to pre-order as a collector’s edition CD (priced at £10.99) and as a digital download (at £8.99) exclusively from www.bigfinish.com.

I dont care much about the Time Lord Victorious multi media event but this story looks to be a great dalek story for Four whether your collecting all the TLV stuff or just some of the stories involved

I,d like to see Big Finish Branch out into animation as well as audio and do original doctor/ companion stories that way. They could start the ball rolling this way for the 60th and get the surviving classics as well as new doctors in a massive animated adventure together. If not that, maybe 4 to 8 could play obstructions/characters or Doppelgangers with an evil agenda or controlled by an unknown puppetmaster in four separate stories and adding a doctor(s) from Nu Who to face off against this oppressive enemy in true Blockbuster style befitting of any diamond anniversary. Somebody please take note.

I,d like Big Finish to animate some of those early standalone releases as well if its an avenue they could or wish to go down.

I’m not greatly interested in ‘Time Lord Victorious’ as a whole, but I do like a good 4th Doctor/Dalek story, so I’ll look forward to listening to this one.

So now this is technically the first part of the story? Why release a timeline if you’re going to continue to add other parts and cram different elements and strands into that timeline. This whole TLV saga gets more confusing the more it runs on. Is there any way at all for someone to get everything all at once when it finally ends or are there limited edition things they’re cramming into it that you have to buy as soon as possible?

I know the response will most likely be ‘everything is stand alone and can be accessed separately’ but at the end of the day it’s a story, and unless you’re getting everything you’re not getting the whole story.

It’s not really a big story. It’s a setting in which stories take place. The actual Time Lord Victorious aspect of the story is The Waters of Mars and the two novels: The Knight, The Fool and The Dead & All Flesh is Grass.

Pre-ordered! I love the cover for this one.

It seems like Tom is becoming a bigger and bigger part of TLV. I wonder why he’s not part of the cor graphics along with 8, 9 & 10?

Could have been part of the plan all along.
Making you believe 8, 9 and 10 were central to the story, then surprising everyone down the line with everyone’s favourite Dr, Tom Baker in a central role.

It’d be a good way to keep it going over the long term. Just keep adding another Doctor every month.

I reckon 8,9 and 10 are the main ones involved at the centre of the events and the other doctors are just dealing with some of the repercussions of TLV
