BBC Shop Now Closed
As part of the BBC’s wider strategic investment to make more programmes available to audiences, as well as develop it’s creative partnerships with programme makers to help them increase digital revenue, BBC Worldwide have decided to close BBCShop.comin the UK on Tuesday 29th March 2016.
As more and more consumers move to digital viewing we will be focusing our efforts on BBC Store, the new BBC Worldwide digital service.

All four dvd’s have now been cancelled. All ordered at the same time as soon as i received the email regarding the closure which incidentally was an hour + before the news was announced here.

March 11th, 2016 - 12:31pmJust had the dvd of Survival cancelled. That was one i was saving for a Christmas gift so i’m not too fussed to be honest.
That seems to be it, just the one, off two orders, everything else says released for delivery.

March 11th, 2016 - 2:33pmReleased for delivery is what it says when you place the order. Dispatched is what it says when it has shipped. Out of everything I ordered only two say dispatched so I’m assuming I’m only getting those two. Order does the email actually say cancelled next to each item that has been cancelled? Just wondering as it still says it cost me £55 despite only £10 worth saying dispatched.

I ordered Doctor Foster on dvd and the Sherlock Chronicles book. I received the dreaded email regarding the order this afternoon like so many others did.
The site says Dr Foster is in stock but the book is no longer available. However they’ve now sent me a shipping email for the book but not the dvd.
It all seems totally random to me. Might be a case of wait and see, then get any refunds clawed back if required.

March 10th, 2016 - 9:06pmI too have received the dreaded ‘no stock’ email. It applies only for the initial order of DVDs placed on Monday; heard nothing about the Sonic Remote I ordered on Tuesday. Hopefully they’re just sending the email out as a precaution; it seems that we all received it at around the same time. I know that some of the DVDs I ordered were still available to order on Tuesday and so if they are the ones I don’t receive I will not be very amused. 51 DVDs still required to complete my collection; I ordered TWELVE on Monday and if they all turn up I’ll drop down to needed just 39.

March 10th, 2016 - 10:18pmWhilst I thoroughly enjoy browsing in ‘The Television and Movie Store’ I seldom make a purchase. Generally speaking most of their items are incredibly overpriced; now would be a prime time for them to cash in on the closure of the BBC Shop by lowering the prices of their DVD range in line to compete with HMV.

My items were the dalek ship with pilot and a mug shaped like an Invasion style cybermen although the BBC didn’t say which was out of stock – as they were two different orders and both order numbers were on the email I assume both of them – I just hope the BBC are dealing with orders in the order they came in.

Of course the site is busy, but surely products should automatically change to “Out of Stock” when all the stock has been ordered?

March 10th, 2016 - 5:21pmMe, too another 3 orders not going to be fulfilled, I didn’t order much and when I did I did separate orders for items on stock and paid via PayPal, so the BBC have had my money since Monday but can’t refund until Weds next week, very poor indeed. Don’t take my order if you haven’t got the item!!!!!!

March 10th, 2016 - 2:31pmJust had a dispatch email for a couple of my items, sadly one of the items is no longer in stock so couldn’t be supplied even though it was in stock when I ordered it. Called BBC shop to make sure I was going to get a refund and asked why this had happened and was told that they were getting so many orders at on stage the stock system couldn’t keep up with what was being ordered hence the reason why I missed out on my ‘Impossible Worlds’ book.

March 9th, 2016 - 8:50pmUtterly gutted, I loved BBC Shop. Speedy, free postage, pleasant customer service, and reasonable prices. And that’s *before* the frequent sales/discount codes.
I can understand why selling hard copy media is becoming increasingly unprofitable for the Beeb, but it’s a pity the move to digital sales means we lose all the other merchandise from them as well. We can’t download action figs and t – shirts digitally, can we? Well…not yet. Hurry up and invent Transmat, BBC!

March 9th, 2016 - 11:57pmSorry! Hope i haven’t got you worried now. I ordered The Visitation special edition a couple of weeks ago in one of the 25% off promotions and received an email a couple of days later saying they had run out of copies and it had been discontinued by the supplier.
Had this not occurred then i wouldn’t have thought twice about it this week.

Still got lots of bargains though. Monster collection books and some Torchwood novels I’d never managed to buy. Goodbye BBC shop! Sob!

March 9th, 2016 - 1:23pmThought I’d just mention the t-shirts, many of which are down to £4.80, including the 10th and 12th Doctor character (i.e. costume) t-shirts. Even cheaper than those are the Web of Fear t-shirt if you want a men’s one (£2.70) and the Enemy of the World t-shirt if you want a ladies’ one (£3.00).
Quite a few of the DVDs remaining are original versions of those for which special editions have since been issued (e.g. The Green Death, Vengeance on Varos).
