It is a huge shame that the BBC Shop is closing down as they where the main supplier of Doctor Who merchandise. I had lots of great deal from them! Though I had my suspicions when the Australia branch closed and the exclusive series 9 DVD box set went to Amazon. They will be missed, but this is also a time for great bargains! So I ordered…

That’s probably the worst news I’ve heard in a long time. A good online site with free postage gone. I don’t buy the excuse’s though. I get annoyed when people decide on ‘what’ market is changing & then tell me that it’s so.

They can probably make far more money selling digital content themselves whist still selling hard copies to third parties such as Amazon

There was always going to come a point when demand for older classic DVD’s that have been around for years would be less than a new print run would allow.

Demand for hard copies is less and less i see that clearly this side of the fence

I wonder if this explains why HMV have been stocking up on classic Who recently; their levels dropped very low when they were entering administration however they’ve now recovered to stock more than they ever did before even that time. The Norwich store has gone from a quarter of a shelf to three entire shelves of them; they also keep them on a promotional end. When I visited the Oxford Street store in London they had half a bay AND a promotional end.

Spent £54 on DVDs. I have all I need of what they have left now. There are many I still need but they’re no longer listed; I’m guessing they’ve been removing them as they’ve sold them in the last few months. It’s a real shame; the 3 for £15 classic DVDs always made a good treat.
