Doctor Who Magazine The Story of Doctor Who

13 Doctors…
More than 40 companions…
Countless alien adversaries…
One essential guide to the entire journey.

The Story of Doctor Who is a lavishly illustrated introduction to the entire show, with sections devoted to all of the television Doctors, many of the key creative figures, and much more. Highlights include new, exclusive interviews with Jodie Whittaker and showrunner Chris Chibnall.

Editor Marcus Hearn says: “Series 11 was one of the television events of the year, bringing a whole new audience to Doctor Who. We wanted to create something special for those new fans, a bookazine that offers an accessible history of the whole 55-year journey, with biographies of the major players and recommendations for essential viewing. Along the way we delved deep in the picture vault, so this is a lavish souvenir that will hopefully appeal to longstanding fans as well as newcomers.”

The luxurious feel extends to a front cover edged with gold-coloured foil. Marcus says: “When we saw the design that art editor Peri Godbold had created for the front of the bookazine we decided it didn’t need the cover lines we’d planned to include. It’s a stunning composition that speaks for itself.”

The Story of Doctor Who is available now, price £9.99.

It’s suddenly appeared in branches of Tesco that didn’t get it when it was released in October.

This has been out a good couple of months to tie in with the start of Series 11 and actually doesn’t have much detail about the stories themselves – strange it’s being posted now as if it’s a new release??? However the explanation about the missing “Story of Doctor Who” cover line is welcome, as, having seen it present on promotional adverts, when I got mine home and realised it was absent from the cover, I wondered if the shop had inadvertently been issued with those special subscriber copies – I wouldn’t actually have minded the title there! The fact it’s not does make it seem a more special ultimate-style release though…well worth having.
