I got the Third and Eighth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdrivers in this new packaging from John Lewis in the Trafford Centre on Monday.

These still look really cheap and horrible though, especially that 11th/12th Doctor sonic screwdriver.

And to those who are asking, no, there is no button on the slider. It’s just a screwhole.

When I said there is no button on the slider, I was talking about the 9th Doctor sonic screwdriver.

I actually prefer this new, brighter packiging (both in case of the figures and the sonics too).

Does the Ninth Doctor’s sonic have a blue led or is it that stupid black light one? Also, does anyone know if it has just the 2 new sounds or does it have the 4 sounds (2 new, 2 old)? I hope it just has the 2. I don’t like it when the “New Who” sonics have the 4 sounds which include the 2 “Old Who” ones!

No…. It’s just made to look that way. If you look closely enough, you can see the 2 buttons on the side that trigger the lights and sounds. I wish they would put the button on the handle. I don’t think it’ll ever happen, though.

or a touch control version? I bet they didn’t even fix the sounchips. Bit infuriating these constant repackagings without any improvement.

I never bothered with these. Might get eights , fifths – 4ths – third’s? Ah the new 12ths touch and control is by far the best. Wonder if the button will work on the slider as its visible on the photos…

Guessing they didn’t go with the metallic Ninth/Tenth then, unless it’s to be released!

I really would love a metallic screwdriver I would even pay up to £15.00 or £20.00 for one of those…..!
      and a
Sarah jane lipstick but that would be £10.00…..

CaptainJimiPie, that was just an in-factory prototype that someone stole on the way out and then flogged on ebay.

It will NEVER be mass produced.

The black end cap is permanently attached.
The section that the black end cap is on, is NOT permanently attached to the rest of the sonic screwdriver though.
