April 3rd, 2013 - 1:26pmI’ve been critical of some of the SEs released, but this one I am looking forward to. It deserves a decent making of documentary and of course it has the DVD commentary of ‘Death of the Doctor’ from SJA with Russell T. Davies and Katy Manning. Now that will be an interesting commentary alone.

April 1st, 2013 - 5:08pmi hope they cgi the wasp but not the maggots

April 1st, 2013 - 8:07pmWhat do you mean by that?
The Greater Intelligence
April 2nd, 2013 - 12:23amIf they do CGI effects replacement for the story as an option, he hopes it is for the wasp at the end, not the maggots themselves.
gordon

April 1st, 2013 - 12:10amWhens the cover getting revealed? I so want to see it and hopefully its got the maggots on it and jo and the doctor and brigadier and Bessie! With the power plant and a green sky in the back ground with red like the original cover! And also when is the cover of Mind of evil being released also? I so want to know and im also excited for the ice warriors cover art as well! If someone knows or seen it please tell me! Thanks
gordon
April 1st, 2013 - 7:34amI believe the artwork for green death se and ice warriors haven’t even been commissioned yet so you won’t be seeing that soon . Mind of evil should be revealed soonish.

March 30th, 2013 - 9:17pmi have just decided to buy all the dvd’s again, i wanted to know what ones i should start off with first?
matparks08
March 30th, 2013 - 10:52pmIf you’ve already owned them you’ll already know which stories you like best, but if you’re looking for special features go for the Revisitation sets – all good stories with oodles of extras.
eddy
March 30th, 2013 - 10:54pmgood point, thanks very much.
eddy
March 30th, 2013 - 11:28pmand i also stopped collecting them when it got up to the boxset of U.N.I.T so i have got a quite a few more to get than before
josh smith
March 30th, 2013 - 10:39ami hope the art work is
lots of maggots around the edges and joes face with the doctor in the middle and the wasp flying towards them
Joe
April 1st, 2013 - 9:36amI hope the artwork is boss in the middle the doctor and Jo being attacked by giant maggots and dragonfly the brig and unit solider attacking the maggots that would make a good cover
Lachie
March 30th, 2013 - 10:33amWell said and i totally agree with everything said by Gordon there, also those releases are i think all that could be done Connor, although i would only actually want The Dalek Invasion of Earth and Earthshock to be re-released for a better cover 😛 i do have a strong wish for Invasion of the Dinosaurs to be colorised by Babelcolour but i can’t believe it! i only just looked that up that’s such a shame! lucky i decided to keep a copy of it by using Youtube to MP4, and trust me i don’t steal or pirate i buy things like everyone else when i can.
josh smith
March 29th, 2013 - 9:43pmi hope the ocver art has lots of maggots on it and joes head in the middle
gordon
March 29th, 2013 - 9:35pmThe problem with stories from 03 to 05 releases is they can only really improve the mpeg encoding and the improvement would probably only be slight. They had perfected vidfire by the time dioe came out and sorted out any problems with the transform decoder by the time earthshock came out. The only ones that would really benefit from technological advancements is the NTSC pertwee episodes. The recent new advancements that have enabled the restoration of ep 2 and 3 claws vastly improved claws no end and really is fantastic
gordon
March 29th, 2013 - 9:09pmBabelcolour did mind of evil ep 1 partly as a labour of love and did it a lot cheaper than what it should have cost to get him noticed in the field. Future projects would be the correct price and even 1 ep of the rescue would be too expensive on budget. Plus I don’t know if Stuart would be willing to ork for BBcww again after they pulled some of his YouTube vids. Survival has over 3 hours of extras and looks as good as it is going to get. Planet of giants was only released august last year and neither need se treatment.
josh smith
March 29th, 2013 - 9:03pmok but the mind robber is fine as it has cover art and gurse of fenric is good piture quality and has a movie version but ghost light really needs one
Connor
March 29th, 2013 - 9:01pmDalek invasion of earth, Earthshock, the mind robber, horror of fang rock, leisure hive, curse of fenric and ghostlight maybe? These storys need special editions in my opinion as they were released before 2005 and they have not that good picture quality, the cover is not that good, more special features and maybe put a movie edition on there as well? These storys are just my thoughts and i really would like special editions of them 🙂
josh smith
March 29th, 2013 - 8:21pmno the rescue and get bablecouler to colrise the whole story! that wuold be great!
MR BLAH
March 29th, 2013 - 8:18pmPlanet of giants was released last year and the romans was released in 2009 when the 2nd re-release was released again
josh smith
March 29th, 2013 - 8:04pmyes! and the rescue and planet of giants
MR BLAH
March 29th, 2013 - 7:19pmSurvival maybe but if 7th doc needed one it would have to be Ghost light SE
TheWhomobile
March 29th, 2013 - 3:41pmThis was my first ever episode of Doctor Who! But I have the original release do shan’t be buying it.
McGann is The Doctor
March 30th, 2013 - 2:42pmI would wait and see if the cover is any good, not to mention the improvement in picture quality.
It really all depends on wether or not you want to see it again, if yes then I’d say it’s worth getting 😉
eddy
March 30th, 2013 - 10:31pmsame here “thewhomobile” it was my first one to!
josh smith
March 31st, 2013 - 9:23ami barly have an pertwee dvds i have them mostly on VHS but mind of evil ios the last pertwee story for me to seee
TheWhomobile
March 31st, 2013 - 1:24pmIf it’s a large improvement over the old release I will consider buying it once its price has dropped. And yes I’m just waiting for the Mind of Evil on DVD then I will have seen every Pertwee episode
josh smith
March 31st, 2013 - 1:25pmi hope its good 🙂

March 29th, 2013 - 7:38pmYes
DOCTOR WHO ONE
March 29th, 2013 - 8:08amIve got the original DVD release so I’m not particularly fussed over this brand new special edition release, cos as far as I’m concerned it will still be the same DVD, just with some extra special features.
gordon
March 29th, 2013 - 8:41amDon’t forget the brand new from the ground up restoration
josh smith
March 29th, 2013 - 12:41pmbut its still the same content
but i am getting infron special cause its my fav story ever and has been for some years now
gordon
March 29th, 2013 - 4:11pmThere is over 2 hours of new material so it ain’t the same content.
josh smith
March 29th, 2013 - 8:05pmyes it is the actual story is the same
gordon
March 29th, 2013 - 9:11pmBut with a better restoration and less compressed with the extras all pushed on to a 2nd disc
josh smith
March 29th, 2013 - 9:13pmyh but still the same story although i LOVE special fatuers i am only 14 and are very limited at wat i can buy

so im even more behind but i have about 90 dvds and audio cds
Anonymous
March 29th, 2013 - 7:31amWhy does it even have death to the doctor on it?
DOCTOR WHO ONE
March 29th, 2013 - 8:06amBecause ‘The Green Death’ was the final appearance of Jo Grant in Doctor Who, and she returned to the Doctor Who universe in the Sarah Jane Adventures spin-off series story ‘Death to the Doctor’ which was the first [and so far, only] time the Doctor and Jo have seen each other in so many years since she left him to get married to Professor Clifford Jones and go up the Amazon to look for some mysterious Fungus to use as a new source of food to feed the world’s starving population in places like Africa.
gordon
March 29th, 2013 - 8:08amSo Katy manning can do a commentary of it.
Lachie
March 29th, 2013 - 1:24ami already bought this back in July last year, but it was on sale and i don’t mind getting the Special Edition because of the small improvement to restoration, the cover, the obvious better extras to be included and of course Death of the Doctor which l’ve never seen before and don’t plan on till this release… i don’t really like Spin-off material :/
The Greater Intelligence
March 29th, 2013 - 3:24amDo you think they might put the ‘Wedding Of Sarah Jane Smith’ episodes on ‘The Hand Of Fear’ Special Edition?
Lachie
March 29th, 2013 - 6:56amwhy the need for a Hand of Fear Special Edition? as far as things go, we actually don’t really need any more Special Edition’s if we were to have anymore i would have suspected they’d get released this year like the rest. However having said that releases that could be given Special Edition treatment pretty much end at 2006 with many not even needing it.
Lachie
March 29th, 2013 - 7:04ami can only understand Invasion of the Dinosaurs for a possible re-release from beyond 2006. Aside from that for the releases that haven’t been re-released before 2006 that could be given Special Edition Treatment, there are only a few and all that can be improved upon them is extras not restoration i think??? correct me if l’m wrong but Gordon should know 🙂
josh smith
March 29th, 2013 - 8:01amwe need a ghost light special edition
gordon
March 29th, 2013 - 8:39amThe whole point of dttd on green death was so Katy could do a commentary on her return story. Even if Elizabeth sladen was still alive it would be more likly it would be school reunion. Only real improvement left is to the mpeg incoding on releases between 2003 to early 06 and that’s not a guarantee there would be enough of a improvment to warrant a se. Iotd se could happen if a better print of 1 up or drop in colourisation costs. Bc did mind 1 as a labour of love and after Bbcww pulled his vids I doubt he would do that again.
MR BLAH
March 29th, 2013 - 8:48amYes I agree also Curse of Fenric SE
McGann is The Doctor
March 30th, 2013 - 2:44pmTwo Doctors, Arc of Infinity and Genesis of the Daleks all need a special edition.
scott stenhouse
March 31st, 2013 - 2:33amthere are plenty of xtras on the normal dvd of genesis
pathdw98
March 29th, 2013 - 12:29amLooking forward to this, may seem silly but the maggots still scare me. But the last scenes are some of the most saddest and brilliantly acted performances ever in Doctor who. Jon and Katy were fantastic in this.
Connor
March 28th, 2013 - 11:36pmGreat i cant wait! I love the green death a really good 6 part adventure and jo Grant’s last story! It was a great series final and that series is one of my favorite series of classic who with great storys! Im so excited for the special features with the sarah jane adventure story with jo grant and matt smith! This is going to be a great special edition! 2 disc set im guessing? Going to buy it as soon as it comes out! I so want to see the cover art and the trailer! More special editions BBC!
gordon
March 28th, 2013 - 11:15pmHappy its been given the special edition treatment. The original was very compressed as a 1 disc release and its there was features that wasn’t on the original release as there was no room.
josh smith
March 29th, 2013 - 8:01amyh i herd about that wat was missing?
gordon
March 29th, 2013 - 9:26amWhat Katy did next. It was a documentary on what Katy did after the show
