I’ve been critical of some of the SEs released, but this one I am looking forward to. It deserves a decent making of documentary and of course it has the DVD commentary of ‘Death of the Doctor’ from SJA with Russell T. Davies and Katy Manning. Now that will be an interesting commentary alone.

Well said and i totally agree with everything said by Gordon there, also those releases are i think all that could be done Connor, although i would only actually want The Dalek Invasion of Earth and Earthshock to be re-released for a better cover 😛 i do have a strong wish for Invasion of the Dinosaurs to be colorised by Babelcolour but i can’t believe it! i only just looked that up that’s such a shame! lucky i decided to keep a copy of it by using Youtube to MP4, and trust me i don’t steal or pirate i buy things like everyone else when i can.

The problem with stories from 03 to 05 releases is they can only really improve the mpeg encoding and the improvement would probably only be slight. They had perfected vidfire by the time dioe came out and sorted out any problems with the transform decoder by the time earthshock came out. The only ones that would really benefit from technological advancements is the NTSC pertwee episodes. The recent new advancements that have enabled the restoration of ep 2 and 3 claws vastly improved claws no end and really is fantastic

Babelcolour did mind of evil ep 1 partly as a labour of love and did it a lot cheaper than what it should have cost to get him noticed in the field. Future projects would be the correct price and even 1 ep of the rescue would be too expensive on budget. Plus I don’t know if Stuart would be willing to ork for BBcww again after they pulled some of his YouTube vids. Survival has over 3 hours of extras and looks as good as it is going to get. Planet of giants was only released august last year and neither need se treatment.

Dalek invasion of earth, Earthshock, the mind robber, horror of fang rock, leisure hive, curse of fenric and ghostlight maybe? These storys need special editions in my opinion as they were released before 2005 and they have not that good picture quality, the cover is not that good, more special features and maybe put a movie edition on there as well? These storys are just my thoughts and i really would like special editions of them 🙂

    • DOCTOR WHO ONE

      March 29th, 2013 - 8:06am

Because ‘The Green Death’ was the final appearance of Jo Grant in Doctor Who, and she returned to the Doctor Who universe in the Sarah Jane Adventures spin-off series story ‘Death to the Doctor’ which was the first [and so far, only] time the Doctor and Jo have seen each other in so many years since she left him to get married to Professor Clifford Jones and go up the Amazon to look for some mysterious Fungus to use as a new source of food to feed the world’s starving population in places like Africa.

  • Lachie

i already bought this back in July last year, but it was on sale and i don’t mind getting the Special Edition because of the small improvement to restoration, the cover, the obvious better extras to be included and of course Death of the Doctor which l’ve never seen before and don’t plan on till this release… i don’t really like Spin-off material :/

Do you think they might put the ‘Wedding Of Sarah Jane Smith’ episodes on ‘The Hand Of Fear’ Special Edition?

    • Lachie

      March 29th, 2013 - 6:56am

why the need for a Hand of Fear Special Edition? as far as things go, we actually don’t really need any more Special Edition’s if we were to have anymore i would have suspected they’d get released this year like the rest. However having said that releases that could be given Special Edition treatment pretty much end at 2006 with many not even needing it.

    • Lachie

      March 29th, 2013 - 7:04am

i can only understand Invasion of the Dinosaurs for a possible re-release from beyond 2006. Aside from that for the releases that haven’t been re-released before 2006 that could be given Special Edition Treatment, there are only a few and all that can be improved upon them is extras not restoration i think??? correct me if l’m wrong but Gordon should know 🙂

    • josh smith

      March 29th, 2013 - 8:01am

we need a ghost light special edition

    • gordon

      March 29th, 2013 - 8:39am

The whole point of dttd on green death was so Katy could do a commentary on her return story. Even if Elizabeth sladen was still alive it would be more likly it would be school reunion. Only real improvement left is to the mpeg incoding on releases between 2003 to early 06 and that’s not a guarantee there would be enough of a improvment to warrant a se. Iotd se could happen if a better print of 1 up or drop in colourisation costs. Bc did mind 1 as a labour of love and after Bbcww pulled his vids I doubt he would do that again.
