But on the positive side, only a few weeks back we only had one episode and the audio version, so I ain’t complaining…. much 😉

October 11th, 2013 - 6:36pmI find it amusing that these newly discovered episodes are coming out on DVD before ‘The Underwater Menace’ ep 2 which was discovered 2 years ago.
videogamemad00
October 11th, 2013 - 7:57pmI downloaded it off YouTube when it leaked. Still haven’t got round to watching it.
matparks08
October 12th, 2013 - 9:05pmmaybe it’s because the two episodes to go with Underwater Menace are being animated and taking longer? Galaxy 4 was put together with telesnaps, and the recent discoveries are (with 1 exception) complete. It’ll be nice when we see a release date for it, but it’s Troughton all the way on dvd in the next few months isn’t it!
Anonymous
October 12th, 2013 - 9:09pmPart of the problem will be they are now set in stone for a release date and everything is being planned such as an animation for the two missing episodes.
However, with these they have learned from their mistakes and ensured the DVD team actually knew about the discovery so they could bring them out in decent time.

October 11th, 2013 - 11:48ami cant remember exaclty now but wasn’t it Nigeria where war machines and the time meddler turned up too…..
HornsOfAzal
October 11th, 2013 - 11:39amI wonder if they made the Doc look a little as if he’s been given a tranquiliser to contrast with the harshness of Salamnder’s face ??

October 11th, 2013 - 10:57amIm amazed at some of what has been revealed in the trailer especially some of the stuff from ep 6. ( which admittedly looks superbly done) but then of course the episodes are available I suppose so if you were waiting for the dvd ‘inadvertantly’ watched the trailer its tough luck on you… ITunes just seemed to want too much info.. I thought they might have been letting you use aypal to purchase the stuff…

October 11th, 2013 - 9:25amOkay so not only is that a brilliant story and I can FINALLY watch it, but it has a damn sexxxyy cover!!! I wish all the DVDs looked like that because I like it to much better than the horror grey thing we have atm!!

October 11th, 2013 - 8:44amDoes anyone know if the covers are reversable?

October 11th, 2013 - 8:46amwe will ask

October 11th, 2013 - 8:52amI read that next year, the DVD’s will all look like this but will have a reversible cover for all those people who want uniform collections like me!
booboo
October 11th, 2013 - 8:56amnext year?

Lachie
October 11th, 2013 - 9:08ami think he means for the upcoming, The Underwater Menace and Moonbase?
booboo
October 11th, 2013 - 9:11amit was a wishful thinking remark
but yes, what’s happened to them i wonder

October 11th, 2013 - 9:59amJust any SE’s and the last few releases to become uniform with the new series somehow.
AlzieWhozie
October 11th, 2013 - 10:19amWell there will be Marco Polo as well. Exciting to know that the DVD is being prepared for that also.

October 11th, 2013 - 10:45amI am The 10th Planet off having the whole set of Classic DVDs, but as long as they don’t start putting them in usless cardboard sleeves, then a redesigned amlar case will look okay. Better a new cover than no new story 🙂
Some bloke
October 11th, 2013 - 10:45amHow do you know that AlzieWhozie?
booboo
October 11th, 2013 - 10:52ambecause of rumours and hear say, like the 106 eps, people have done this and that etc etc
all i know is that you will only get future official announcements, if any, when everything is “in the bag”
If they had found power of the Daleks and announced it, then they went to restore it for release and the film fell apart, or they found tom and jerry spliced in the middle you wouldn’t thank them much
HornsOfAzal
October 11th, 2013 - 10:59amI like the web of fear cover…must admit though suprised at the Brig (or rather Colonel’s) absence…
Lachie
October 11th, 2013 - 11:13ami completely agree with booboo right there, l mean the minute they’ve announced it they not only have it up on iTunes with square covers for that, they have Restored it to practically perfect condition, they’ve got DVD Releases coming in the future with the Artwork already made (and done perfectly i might add from Tea Lady Design their brilliant) l mean the amount of time taken to do this would have been months… i think what’s brilliant is how unlike it was to the announcement of “The Underwater Menace: 2” in terms of everything
booboo
October 11th, 2013 - 11:18amits much better this way, when things are know about months and months head delays can happen, even cancellation, people get frustrated
Some bloke
October 11th, 2013 - 11:21amok…? So has Marco Polo been found or not?
booboo
October 11th, 2013 - 11:23amthe only way you will know for sure is if there is an official announcement – so no
Lachie
October 11th, 2013 - 11:26amyeah it makes alot of sense, people get frustrated either way though haha i was getting sick of hearing the constant news coming out and thinking should i just not use internet for a few days and wait it out haha i think the omnirumour about the whole 90+ episodes recovered could actually have some truth to it then on speculation considering though way less than 90+ now, probably more like 40 or so but released time to time like these two when they can. I believe Ian Levine if anybody though. In the meantime its best to wait and not bother BBC.
Some bloke
October 11th, 2013 - 11:26ambut is it rumoured? As I remember rightly it was Marco Polo, Enemy of the World and Web of fear, two of which have been found…
booboo
October 11th, 2013 - 11:34ama huge haul is rumoured, that amongst them, that’s all i know
I only know the same stuff that everyone else reads
HornsOfAzal
October 11th, 2013 - 11:33amWheres this stuff about Marco Polo come from ??
booboo
October 11th, 2013 - 11:38ami think someone let slip they had recorded a commentary for it but dont quote me on that, again could all be rumour is misunderstanding
Lachie
October 11th, 2013 - 11:35amthough just as a food for thought, if the BBC has all these episodes. why would they release the few DVD’s this year with animation to fill the gaps, if some of these missing episodes being animated have been found…?perhaps they have found all these missing episodes however they are going to say they found them later on to re-release in the future for more money? or just simply they believe they won’t ever be found.
booboo
October 11th, 2013 - 11:41amanimation is expensive so i doubt that.
I very much suspect its all been blown out of proportion
it could be that the paperwork trail shows this station was sent 100 eps for example, they find 9 there – the hunt goes on for where the rest were sent to next – people start to think 100 have been found
Lachie
October 11th, 2013 - 11:42amactually that would be stupid to animate them if they already had them haha because then the BBC would be paying the Animators for money, now that i think about it i guess it was just a way of releasing all surviving material as they could haha
Some bloke
October 11th, 2013 - 11:44amHey booboo have you watched tenth planet 4 yet (sorry for asking a third time)
booboo
October 11th, 2013 - 11:46amno not yet, i might get some time one day
Some bloke
October 11th, 2013 - 11:48amMines due in the post tomorrow or monday so I will watch it the second it comes through the door!
booboo
October 11th, 2013 - 11:50amthat’s good, dont spoil the ending for me though
Some bloke
October 11th, 2013 - 11:53amHA! Just hoping the animation is better than the reign of terror. Don’t get me wrong I liked the animation in it, its just that it was a but to jump cut and quick and odd camera angles. So hopefully the tenth planet ep 4 is more true to the telesnaps 🙂
Lachie
October 11th, 2013 - 11:57amwell cheer’s for what’s to come in the future and for a brilliant day to Doctor Who fans. I hope the BBC are pulling all there efforts into finding these now they know the rewards that obviously come from it (now that Doctor Who is alot popular than it was).
HornsOfAzal
October 11th, 2013 - 11:59amHmmmmm people been receiving their tenth planet copies then ?? Haven’t received mine yet 🙁
Some bloke
October 11th, 2013 - 12:01pmme neither, but maybe tomorrow or monday!
Some bloke
October 14th, 2013 - 11:39amI watched tenth planet just now booboo, and I have say it was GREAT! Story-wise is was amazing! The animation of episode 4 for the first 3 minutes I have to say was probably worse than some of the stuff in reign of terror but after the first three it was incredibly better than reign of terror. Can’t wait to see what they’ve done with moonbase now! 🙂
AlzieWhozie
October 11th, 2013 - 8:33amTo be frank, its not the most important thing as to the cover design – what matters is that we have 5 new episodes of Enemy of the World. In other words a whole serial starring Pat, Fraser and Debbie. And Web of Fear added to boot. Classic stuff. I remember listening to EofW years ago and thought then “this sounds terrific stuff” and now, I hope, we’ll all think that.
HornsOfAzal
October 11th, 2013 - 11:36amAdmittedly Enemy…wouldnt have been my first choice for a find ( bar ep 6 which looks superb) but I’m a hell of a lot more hopeful of Fury from the Deep’s chances of survival now…….
Sam Bentley
October 11th, 2013 - 7:24amJust going to put it out there – they should release new covers in the style for all the episodes on DVD already. Using the original artwork of course. But these look so much nicer than the normal design.
josh smith
October 11th, 2013 - 7:37amno the normal design looks so much better
auton101
October 11th, 2013 - 7:52amI disagree they should always change the style if they want to and the web of fear cover is excellent as is the enemy of the world one. The designs are different. These should be the designs put forward to the DVD release.
John Bergqvist
November 23rd, 2013 - 6:15pmRegarding the DVD cover, if you reverse it, you’ll find a more traditional (i.e. with the Grey TARDIS background along the top half) background, similar to all the other classic DVD releases. I’m sure this will be the case for The Web Of Fear too.
The TARDIS
October 11th, 2013 - 7:11amWill thre still be special features on it? I’m guessing its not a vanilla release as it has 2 discs
AlzieWhozie
October 11th, 2013 - 8:30amIt appears that the commentary was done ages ago. As were the interviews for Marco Polo.

October 11th, 2013 - 7:06ami really want some harnell historical or dalek ones tohugh

October 11th, 2013 - 6:48amOver the moon hearing this news!
Not going to lie though, don’t like what that’ve done with the dvd covers, although they should be reversable.
Lachie
October 11th, 2013 - 6:53amSame! i think the covers are brilliant! wish they had done this with Region 2 and Region 4 covers a long time ago, of course the Spine must stay the same, the spine is perfect when it comes to the covers 🙂
josh smith
October 11th, 2013 - 6:57amno the old covers were better
josh smith
October 11th, 2013 - 6:46amyay i love this story
Lachie
October 11th, 2013 - 6:43ami know this must sound stupid perhaps but being the guy that doesn’t know much about how they are made, how they are classified and so forth will their be Special Features, a DVD Menu and everything else much like previous Doctor Who DVD’s? 😀 it says 2-Disc so l’m hoping for it >_<
