bbc-shop-enemy-excThe Enemy of The World BBC Shop Slipcase DVD

The TARDIS arrives in a futuristic Australia, where the genius Salamander has found a way to end starvation by harnessing the sun’s energy and preventing natural disasters on a global scale.

But there are those who believe Salamander’s office is moving towards dictatorship. One such person is Giles Kent, and he is immediately struck by the Doctor’s remarkable likeness to the great man.

The Doctor and his companions infiltrate Salamander’s top secret research station and uncover a web of lies on a massive scale.

Unless the wholesale deception can be revealed, global war looks set to break out…

Unseen in the UK for 45 years – marvellously restored and remastered and brought back to life for you to own on DVD.

Enemy of the World is the fourth tale of Series 5 which first aired on the BBC in December 1967. It stars the second actor to play the Time Lord, Patrick Troughton, who is both the Doctor and his antagonist Ramon Salamander, alongside Frazer Hines (Jamie) and Deborah Watling (Victoria).

On Earth in the near future, the Doctor and his companions are enmeshed in a deadly web of intrigue thanks to his uncanny resemblance to would-be 21st century dictator Salamander. He is hailed as the ‘Shopkeeper of the World’ for his efforts to relieve global famine, but why do his rivals keep disappearing? How can he predict so many natural disasters? The Doctor must expose Salamander’s schemes before he takes over the World.

To celebrate the discovery and release of Doctor Who: Enemy of the World, BBC Shop and Dark Bunny Tees have been lovingly working together to bring you a strictly Limited, Exclusively designed T-shirt.

Whisked away to Africa**, location of the discovered tapes designer Alex Chenery has been busying himself on the ultimate design and tribute to the six-part tale unseen on these shores for 45 years. With finishing touches being placed on the designs right now, (we’ve waited this long, we didn’t want to rush!) keep your eyes peeled! All designs will be screen-printed on a Ring-Spun, Soft Style, Euro cut t-shirt.

For all you people who want Marco Polo they probably won’t announce it yet they haven’t had enough time to fix of they had it even if they have it. Anyway they will probably be doing the blu ray classic DVDs soon

blu-ray not possible… all you could hope for there is “The TV Movie” And for Marco Polo if* it has been recovered.. it hasn’t been restored so expect a looong wait like perhaps a year and a half or so.

There’s gonna be special features on both DVD releases right? Surely BBC Worldwide don’t expect us to pay £9.99 on iTunes and then pay similar money for ‘vanilla’ releases? Who knows, with Web pushed back till February, does that give the Beeb enough time to create an animated episode 3?

no just a slipcase and an optional T-Shirt though I would get the Limited Edition without the T-Shirt then later on try and find the T-Shirt separate on eBay. hope that helped

      October 14th, 2013 - 9:02am

Whist I agree about the video change being not the best decision back in the day, I’ve NEVER liked the DVD cover design. Bleak, dreary and uninspiring. The episode artwork made them tolerable, but if the Web of Fear and Enemy are the new template for a whole new era of in-house classic DVD re-releases, then I’ll be a happy man! Just wish they’d ditch the old spine etc.

Am I the only one who wants the covers to look like all the others so they Mach ? I mean I understand the spine and all but the spine has the new BBC logo will they stil have reverse covers ?

      October 12th, 2013 - 12:42am

me to though you have to say the design is brilliant and shows much more of the artwork and with an artistic title for each story then a plain one. I wish they had used this for the first DVD’s and i hope Tea Lady Design does all Doctor Who artwork haha

Might get this, don’t really understand the artwork for all the both episodes because the ones I have seen don’t have the doctor who bit at the top. Also since they have made artwork and re-mastered it all, doesn’t that mean they’ve known about it for a while?
