“Something is coming. The yeti…the Yeti!” Demon Records presents a narrated full-cast TV soundtrack adventure starring Patrick troughton as the Doctor, introducing one of his most fondly remembered enemies, The Yeti! In this classic 6-part ‘lost’ Adventure, first shown on BBC TV between September and November 1967, the TARDIS materializes in the Himalayan mountains, circa 1930, where Professor traverse has been trying to track down the legendary abominable snowmen. The Doctor soon discovers that the Yeti do exist, but as the Servants of a terrible force – The great intelligence! Can the Doctor and his friends Stop it from taking over the entire world? Presented across 3 x heavyweight 180g pieces of White vinyl.
This narrated TV soundtrack evokes a classic Doctor who adventure in all its aural magnificence. The haunting sounds of the windswept Himalayas, the hypnotic chanting of Tibetan Monks, the insistent bleeping of the Yeti control devices, and the terrifying roar of the creatures themselves are all accompanied by the eerie sonics of Ron grainer & Delia derbyshire’s theme tune.
Written by mervyn haisman and Henry Lincoln, this was the yeti’s debut TV appearance, and they would soon return to menace the Doctor in another adventure. Linking narration is provided by Frazer Hines (Jamie) and the cast includes Deborah watling as Victoria, Jack watling as Professor traverse, David spenser as thonmi and wolfe Morris as padmasambhava. The film recordings of all but one episode of this story are lost from the BBC archives. Accompanying the White vinyl LPs are full episode billings, cast and credits, and eight illustrated panels form a superb, two-sided s artwork Montage. Dummedy-dum, dummedy-dum, dummedy-dum, dum-dum….

August 21st, 2019 - 8:18pmQuestion. Will they fix the audio issue on episode 2. Or just try to repair it or use the version on the cd.
Mrs Croot
August 21st, 2019 - 8:33pmIt’s been a while since I watched the recon. Can you please tell me what the issue was with the audio as I’m now curios about it?

August 22nd, 2019 - 1:45pmA line was missing from the doctors examination of the yeti. They recreated it using samples of troughtons voice. Presumably they’ll just use that version. It does the job.

August 22nd, 2019 - 4:23pmChris Thompson did an recreation of the line. And it’s amazing and seamless next to troughtons

August 21st, 2019 - 12:33pmAn even number of episodes/sides means no etching this time. But the Amazon variant sounds good. I’m guessing it will be white flecks set into a base colour like black, grey or clear. Bear in mind that if you are interested by rarity, last time (EotD) the non-Amazon version had fewer copies made (500 red for general retail, 1000 swirl for amazon). Personally I just went for the look I liked best!

August 22nd, 2019 - 12:35pmSame here. I’m not getting rid of them so rarity isn’t important. It’s the one that looks best wins! However, id also be happy if they did budget versions that were just plain black vinyl. Why not?

August 21st, 2019 - 9:18amYes! Another lost story! I really want all of the lost ones on vinyl record as it’s another way to experience them before animations are eventually done! Marco Polo would be a great next one as it’s the longest one not done. I hope they don’t waste time on surviving stories.
Bryan
August 21st, 2019 - 11:38amThere is The War Games at 10 episode or Trial of a Timelord at 14 episodes, that are longer than Marco Polo. But I agree, that Marco , with its semi narrated soundtrack by Mark Eden originaly, would make a superb Release.
Very Surprised YETI got brought to the fore, Rather than Cybermen or even more Daleks. It would also me interesting to get a new ,previously unreleased Soundtrack (Revelation, Ressurection, Rememberance. to finish the Davros series. Or even Frontier in Space followed By Planet.
I wonder which to go for, as I always went for the Dalek Etching.
Mrs Croot
August 21st, 2019 - 6:33pmYes, but War Games and Trial are surviving stories!

August 21st, 2019 - 8:31pmTrue but I was talking about missing ones. That was what my comment was about to begin with! Your argument makes as much sense if I was talking about an animation.

August 22nd, 2019 - 1:48pmWe aren’t going to get animated versions of all of the missing stories. They’ve already confimed that.
