“We are at the very beginning…”
Demon Records presents, exclusive to Record Store Day 2024, the complete narrated TV soundtrack of the Doctor Who story ‘The Edge Of Destruction’. This brand new audio presentation, making its debut in any format with this vinyl release, features unique linking narration by Carole Ann Ford. There’s also a bonus interview with Carole herself, in which she recalls playing Susan, the Doctor’s granddaughter, in the original TV episodes.
Side A
- The Edge Of Destruction
Side B
- The Brink Of Disaster
The vinyl boasts a picture disc Side A, showing the Ship’s melting ormolu clock from a pivotal scene in the story, and an exclusive Zoetrope Side B, depicting the TARDIS swirling across space and time (best experienced using a smartphone running a third-party stroboscope app). The 12” disc is presented in a stunning die-cut artwork outer sleeve.
Escaping from their previous adventure, the Doctor, Susan, Ian Chesterton (William Russell) and Barbara Wright (Jacqueline Hill) are inside the TARDIS when it appears to be taken over by an outside force. 2024 is the 60th anniversary of this two-episode story starring William Hartnell as the Doctor.
First broadcast on 8 & 15 February 1964, it was only the third ever Doctor Who serial to be shown. Doctor Who returns to BBC TV and Disney+ in Spring 2024 with Ncuti Gatwa in his first full series as the Fifteenth Doctor.

February 27th, 2024 - 9:31pmLooks amazing, but it isn’t going to look too great alongside the others in the series. Personally I’d have preferred them to do it like the Collection and kept the same aesthetic.

February 28th, 2024 - 9:41amI understand that that’s an entirely subjective thing, and that the most important/best thing is that they’re still doing them at all. Just probably will mean I end up not getting this one.

April 20th, 2024 - 3:34pmIn case you were concerned, it does come in a case with the title on the spine so fits in fine with the rest of the records in the collection. The only difference is that it’s thin due to only being one disc which unfortunately stands out if you put it chronologically in front of Marco Polo

just when I thought we wouldn’t get any more Narrated soundtracks. We get a brand new never before released one.
Gorgeous work and I love the story.
(I really did think we would get a Tom Baker Narrated Target reading)
Now where is Slipback Paired with One of the 90 min edited readings from the 90s read by Colin) )
