New 3.75″ Figures and playsets in 2013 – Poll

New 3.75″ Scale Action Figures and playsets in 2013

In a recent interview for www.toysnplaythings.co.uk, Character along with several other companies have talked about their future plans for Doctor Who Products.

You can read all the interviews and stories via www.toysnplaythings.co.uk magazine or click on the image below.

One quote however appears to give us some major news on new figures and sets…

What exciting new products will you have coming out in future?

“Our product range will be diverse and innovative, in addition to the figures and playsets that have been released, Autumn 2012 will see the first Doctor Who App-related toy in which you connect your smartphone to a physical device enabling kids to digitally battle Daleks, Cybermen and Angels as they appear in their actual location on screen via augmented reality. We have huge expectations from an exciting new toy range for 2013 with new scale action figures, playsets and role play toys. Construction will continue to grow with the introduction of Series three micro-figures and all new playsets based on the upcoming episodes.”

The current 5 inch figure range

  • The Classic series figure range will stay the same scale, 5 inches.
  • No more new series figures will be made in the 5 inch range.
  • Rory was the final new series figure to be made for the 5 inch scale range, although there may be re-releases (Like the B&M Dalek and Cybermen sets).

The new 3.75 inch figure range

  • The new scale range will be 3.75 inches which is industry standard. This means the toys will be more compatible with other ranges.
  • There are no plans to release already existing figures in the new scale range. (Excluding Daleks and Weeping angels seen in series 7)
  • Photos of the range will not be released until next year.
  • There is a possibility stands if costs allow but priority will be given to the figures.
  • There will be a range of four playsets.

Above is what we know so far thanks to Alasdair Dewar.

Likewise. I really only collect dalek toys, and they’ve been all sizes over the years. I wouldn’t want to duplicate my collection though, as I’ve got nearly all of the CO versions.

But they’d be out of scale, so their smallness wouldn’t make any difference…

Series 6 has got to be the BEST SERIES for making action figures.

And it was like they couldn’t have picked worse choices for them. The only good Series 6 figures were the Silence, the Doctor with his new hair sculpt Ganger Doctor Doctor in straightjacket !

And Idris ofcourse, not to mention the Cybermen variants and Cybermatts.

But seriously, a bearded Doctor who was onscreen for afew seconds (in his bowtie) Uncle (just another shelf warmer) an innaccurate Nephew ood and Doctor in a hat that looks rubbish. ❗ What a waste !

P.S: The pegdoll was good but they only made one, quite pointless !

That’s why I didn’t get it, no point in having just one.

How awesome would the Headless monks have been as figures ? And a Doctor with removable hood like Hawthorne would have been lovely, not to mention the Minotaur the Handbots a new Amy River in her dress and the Doctor in his Longcoat and Dorium !

I seriously recommend them making 5″ Series 6 figures, GOOD ones that is. ❗

If I’d been in charge, the figures would’ve been
      *the Astronaut
      *the Minotaur
*11th Doctor in green coat w/swappable Steteson head
      *Handbots with swappable heads
*a corroded Cyberman and a normal Cyberman w/gun, each would come with 5 Cybermats,
      *Amy from Impossible Astronaut
      *Rory the Roman
*Silents with open and closed mouths, grey
      *River Song in prison dress
*Headless monk w/removable hood and sword
*Dorium w/openable box with his head inside

      *accurate Nephew Ood
      *Madame Kovarian
      *Ganger Doctor

Actually, I have an idea for a wave 1 of these new-scale figures:
      *11th Doctor(white shirt, blue bowtie)
      *Clara Oswin
      *Dalek Drone in new color
      *damaged Asylum Dalek
      *Raptor
      *the Gunslinger
      *damaged Weeping Angel w/chains
      Deluxe figures:
      *TARDIS w/River Song
      *T-Rex w/Amy
      *SoL Angel w/damaged Weeping Angel
      Playsets:
TARDIS console room w/11th Doctor(blue shirt, red bowtie)
Parliament of the Daleks w/Dalek Supreme
And wave 2 would have figures from the second part of s7

I’d be interested if they re-released older figures. What is the point to have a majority in the 5 inch and the news in 3.75″? This is dumb. If i new i was able to get a full collection and if the paint applications and quality control were awesome i would be in. Price point also has to be good.

Maybe they have done this becuase it is so much money to make 5 inch figures and if they went for a smaller size then it would be saving them money and it will be cheeper to make.

i hope this does not happen but it will save me some money becuase everytime i see a 5 inch figure i just buy it straight away.

Wel, I slept on it. And I decided on a final opinion: The Clone Wars figures (which I used to collect) are actually good for their size. If CO manage to make some figures the same quality, I’ll buy enough for a figure adventure, as I still have some space in my room. But if I find those figures to hard to film with or find that they have rubbish quality, I’ll stop getting them and maybe I’ll buy the occasional classic set.

    Rory(The Power of Three)
    Dalek Drone in new color
    damaged “Asylum” Dalek
    the Gunlinger
    damaged Weeping Angel
    And for playsets:
Parliament of the Daleks w/Supreme Dalek
11th Doctor Tardis console room w/River Song
    And for deluxe figures:
    Robot
    T-Rex
    Tardis exterior

Well, I wouldn’t mind seeing the Doctor in his new outfit or Clara, if they decided not to make Amy or Rory. They said they’d be making them from Series 7 onwards, so I’m sure they’d release some of these figures, at least.

RRP on the 3.75″ Hobbit figures is £7.99 for the single figures and £12.99 for the dwarf 2 packs.
Considering the 5″ Who figures usually are around the 9-10 quid mark hopefully the 3.75″ range will be £6-7 (can’t see them being any cheaper if they want to maintain quality).

I don’t know what to think about these, but as character have made all the figures so far to such a high quality and standard, then I think that if these new ones weren’t as good or weren’t as detailed they wouldn’t make them, as they can do better, they wouldn’t purposely do worse!

We are figures collectors the same as many of you so very disappointed the range is ending, especially as there are so many figures we did not get, Handbots, minatour etc

I do however understand the need for change and renewal, retailers loose interest and trends change. The continuous variants last year are as a result of it, not the cause of it.

CO are a mass market toy manufacturer and if the mass market is no longer there then its out with the old and in with the new.

Once the dust has settled i’m quite looking forward to seeing what they come up with to be honest

im gonna give these a chance i prefer the bigger scale 5 inch figures but id say we should give them a chance before complaining as they could be brillliant or they could be terrible we dont know so im gonna give them chance and im hoping for electronic playsets and an accurate tardis playset when i start collecting these i think ill move all my 5 inch figures up to display in the attic and where i display my current 5 inch figures ill put these i just hope they dont look plasticy
