New 3.75″ Figures and playsets in 2013 – Poll
New 3.75″ Scale Action Figures and playsets in 2013
In a recent interview for www.toysnplaythings.co.uk, Character along with several other companies have talked about their future plans for Doctor Who Products.
You can read all the interviews and stories via www.toysnplaythings.co.uk magazine or click on the image below.
One quote however appears to give us some major news on new figures and sets…
What exciting new products will you have coming out in future?
“Our product range will be diverse and innovative, in addition to the figures and playsets that have been released, Autumn 2012 will see the first Doctor Who App-related toy in which you connect your smartphone to a physical device enabling kids to digitally battle Daleks, Cybermen and Angels as they appear in their actual location on screen via augmented reality. We have huge expectations from an exciting new toy range for 2013 with new scale action figures, playsets and role play toys. Construction will continue to grow with the introduction of Series three micro-figures and all new playsets based on the upcoming episodes.”
The current 5 inch figure range
- The Classic series figure range will stay the same scale, 5 inches.
- No more new series figures will be made in the 5 inch range.
- Rory was the final new series figure to be made for the 5 inch scale range, although there may be re-releases (Like the B&M Dalek and Cybermen sets).
The new 3.75 inch figure range
- The new scale range will be 3.75 inches which is industry standard. This means the toys will be more compatible with other ranges.
- There are no plans to release already existing figures in the new scale range. (Excluding Daleks and Weeping angels seen in series 7)
- Photos of the range will not be released until next year.
- There is a possibility stands if costs allow but priority will be given to the figures.
- There will be a range of four playsets.
Above is what we know so far thanks to Alasdair Dewar.

January 11th, 2013 - 4:48pmCan’t believe they are still going through with making the S7 figures 3.75inch even with all the outcry of the fans that don’t want this to happen. They obviously don’t care what the fans want who are the ones that keep them in business.
Dalek The Supreme
January 7th, 2013 - 5:02pmI think the playsets should be from the first half of the season, and they could do a second wave from part 2:
*11th Doctor electronic TARDIS playset w/Doctor, Amy, Rory, and TARDIS exterior
*Dalek Asylum set w/Dead Planet Dalek, Special Weapons Dalek, damaged bronze Dalek, and Dalek Drone
*Silurian Ark set w/Triceratops, Raptor, Solomon, and Robot
*Winter Quay set w/River, 2x Weeping Angels, and cherubs
And second wave should include new TARDIS w/Doctor in new costume, Clara, Strax, and Vastra

January 5th, 2013 - 7:12pmi think they should do the hotel fron series 7 action sets
Baba
January 4th, 2013 - 11:27amI think one of the 4 sets should be the brand new TARDIS interior from The Snowmen.
DOCTOR WHO ONE
January 4th, 2013 - 3:44pmHELL YES π
But it would be a waste of money since it won’t be for the 5inch figures, but would probably be suited to the old Dapol figures of the 80’s and 90’s.
andrew
January 4th, 2013 - 7:24amFair enough that they want to “scale them back to be compatible with other toys”, but they will look out of place when posed with the existing range.
And we still need to see toys from the Tennant era, such as the Abzorballof!
Baba
January 3rd, 2013 - 11:01pmI hope they will still make 5″ figures!
Robert
January 18th, 2013 - 6:25pmI hope so too
Joethewhovian
January 3rd, 2013 - 7:12pmThis always happens with toy companies. The creators think they’re geniuses when they bring something out, but then nobody buys them. They’re bound to bring back the 5 inch range after alkyl the complaints.
booboo
January 3rd, 2013 - 11:45pmI very much doubt go back to 5″ figures for the new series, if the 3.75″ line doesn’t work you might not get anything at all
John
January 13th, 2013 - 7:35pmHaving collected the 5″ figures since back in 2005, I am so frustrated at this downsizing (costcutting?) move, that I have just sent a message to the manufacturer to let tham know that are about to lose one previously loyal customer/fan.
Okay… big deal! But if more people sent more messages, and stopped buying their product, lining their pockets and keeping them in business perhaps something would change for the better. Have a voice, and tell them if you are not happy.
I’ve told them they can keep their “G I Joes.”
I won’t be buying them.
Andrew I
January 13th, 2013 - 7:48pmI don’t think they’re changing just for the hell of it, there must be lots of cost involved too. If, in the current economic climate they’re not able to continue with the 5 inch range, then downsizing is better than nothing at all. Size isn’t everything! π the products will, I’m sure, reflect a quality brand still.
Clayderman
January 25th, 2013 - 12:16amWell, i heard that this is only for the new series, any fans of the classics? Good. ‘Cos Character did announce that they are keeping 5″ figures for the classics. π
booboo
January 25th, 2013 - 7:50amclassic will stay 5″ and it possible already manufactured 5″ could be re-released in other variants such as the toys r us sets
Brother of the Daleks
January 3rd, 2013 - 6:12pmI’ll wait and see the prototype images, maybe buy a figure or two before I make my final decision. It would also depend on the lineup, for example, if they didn’t release a modifed Paradigm Dalek from Asylum of the Daleks, I probably wouldn’t buy them.
Brother of the Daleks
January 3rd, 2013 - 6:13pmI mean official images π³
jedi jim
January 2nd, 2013 - 8:23pmI have collected nearly every figure Character has produced in 5″ scale. ( even more challenging here in America!). I will simply have to stop and not purchase in the smaller size.
The downsize is certainly profitable using less material and I’ll presume nearly the same price!
This size scale though will allow the kiddies to have their Hasbro Darth Vaders’ and Iroman figures beat up on the Doctor!!
Droney
January 1st, 2013 - 1:19amI really do not like them and no more 11th or 12th doctor with old doctor and monsters and friends
Mr 3 Inch Figures Suck
December 31st, 2012 - 12:20amI will be really upset if they go through with this. I hope they notice people complaining and decide to throw this idea straight into the garbage. In the words of 11: This is extremely very not good!

December 30th, 2012 - 4:14pmhttp://grapesoda.theterrordrome.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/doctor-who-3-3-4th-figures.jpg is this real or fake

December 30th, 2012 - 10:00pmThese look aweful! Look how skinny the Doctor’s arms are! Quite frankly these suck!
booboo
December 30th, 2012 - 10:14pmwhich is why the image was never used here, early test samples never intended for close scrutiny
Supe
December 30th, 2012 - 10:03pmLook how skinny the Doctor’s arms are!! TERRIBLE!!!!!!!
Cris
December 24th, 2012 - 5:14amI want classic and ALL of them to be 3.75! I can’t wait!
McGann is The Doctor
December 26th, 2012 - 10:20pmNo way !
Supe
December 30th, 2012 - 10:08pmThat’s just insanity! The 5 inch scale is way better! Just sayin.
Droney
January 1st, 2013 - 1:17amAny way a bit off topic what will happen to the Figure doctor who youtube series I mean like the next seanson for them will not be to good. π
Robert
January 18th, 2013 - 6:31pmI agree with Supe the 5ich figure were better everyone has got a HUGE collection of these and now these 3.75inch figures are pointless because everyone who has collected the 5inch will have re-start their collection from scratch its pointless I just hope they do 2 variations 1 in 5inch and another in 3.75
Metal web
May 19th, 2013 - 4:46pmwhy would they even make 3.75 now when 5 inch has been going around for so long.
Hellbelly
December 21st, 2012 - 9:03amI know a lot of people seem upset about the change but it basically comes down to this; It’s either the 3.75in. figures or NO FIGURES.
Which would you prefer.
McGann is the Doctor
December 21st, 2012 - 10:22amNo, the choice is this:
Stay with 5″ line, keep getting 5″ classics.
Or start getting these 3 inch ones which may or may not be good detail/good choice of characters and if that does well they will only drag the classic line down to 3 inch aswell and EVERYTHING WILL BE LOST π
morlu
December 30th, 2012 - 3:05pmMcgann is right. Keep buying the classic 5″ figures. Vote with your pounds.
What is the point starting a new collection of figures in a new size.
Anonymous
December 30th, 2012 - 9:57pmFor collectors of the 5 inch scale that’s exactly what’s happening, NO MORE DOCTOR WHO ACTION FIGURES!!! So what difference does it make to us cuz they’ve already killed it for us!
doctordona101
December 18th, 2012 - 4:49pmthis is stupid after spending all your money on big playsets you cant use them any more thats just stupid and youre big figures will be no good withe the little playsets ithere.
McGann is the Doctor
December 21st, 2012 - 10:21amThe good thing is they are only making from Series 7 and onwards so they may still make some 5″ exclusives for Series 6.
I REALLY HOPE THEY DO ! β
I will not give up on the 5″ line.
CG
December 17th, 2012 - 10:44amI groaned when they released the character building figures as I already collected the micro-universe and normal 5″ figs. I’m sure when they come out and we wait a while we will all get over it and maybe even but some and collect them.
McGann is the Doctor
December 21st, 2012 - 10:19amI will only do that if
1. the figures are decent
2. they make something a sane person would actually want, not some rubbish. Seriously, does anyone even remember who uncle is ?! β
So if they make a Doctor, with good detail (some stripes on his grey striped shirt and maybe the braces) not to mention accurate hair I will buy.
If they make a Doctor with a sonic screwdriver CLOSED and one that has it OPEN then I will buy.If they just make an inaccurate Doctor with only the open sonic then forget it. β
Brother of the Daleks
December 16th, 2012 - 6:31pmI’m actually excited about these. I hope wave 1 is:
11th Doctor w/Sonic Screwdriver
Clara
bronze Dalek
Supreme Dalek
Weeping Angel w/cherubs
Gunslinger
Shakri w/cubes
deluxe T-Rex
Skeleton w/Dalek add-ons
Dalek Strategist/Dalek Drone 2-pack(AotD)
Solomon/Robot 2-pack(DoaS)
Kate Stewart/Unit Soldier 2-pack(TPoT)
Amy/Rory 2-pack(TATM)
Dalek Asylum playset w/damaged Daleks(bronze and 70’s)
TARDIS interior w/River Song and Brian
Dinosaur Spaceship set w/Tricey and Raptor
Christmas set w/Strax, Jenny, Vastra, and Snowmen
Steampunk Doctor
December 16th, 2012 - 7:21pmI like the christmas set idea !
Brother of the Daleks
January 3rd, 2013 - 6:08pmWait, the Dalek two pack would be the Supreme and Strategist, and the Drone would be in the single figures. π
McGann is the Doctor
December 14th, 2012 - 12:34pmI just hope that when this line fails they will not drag the 5″ classic line down with them.
And I agree, with the 50th anniversary coming up Character would have made tonnes of money with 5″ figures, but no.
They probably don’t even realise it’s the 50th anniversary in 2013 π
Doctor 909
December 9th, 2012 - 3:50pmGuys did you know that they have created 3 of these figures according to Alasidair. Wonder what they are?????
Dalek Strategist
December 10th, 2012 - 1:03pmWell, we know two of them, the Doctor and a Dalek
booboo
December 10th, 2012 - 1:04pmthey were just test samples
Dalek Strategist
December 10th, 2012 - 1:15pmStill, Character would be stupid not to release the Doctor and a Dalek, especially one of the redesigned Paradigm versions.
thedaleksdeath
November 29th, 2012 - 3:09pmI’ve just found an Image of a 3:75 two pack and the detail is wayyy better then the 5 Inch figures!
booboo
November 29th, 2012 - 3:10pmif you mean the Doctor and Dalek they are early prototypes and not likely to be produced in that form
thedaleksdeath
December 1st, 2012 - 2:49pmOh shame but you have to admit the detail was great on them.
josh smith
December 2nd, 2012 - 1:38pmno it was terrible 5″ is supiroir on all forms
Jordan
November 27th, 2012 - 6:19pmIts so annoying and frustrating that there bringing 3.75 inch ones out because I have collected over 150 doctor who figures and all that money wasted! Please please don’t bring them out keep the 5 inch ones out please.

Dalek Strategist
November 21st, 2012 - 3:00pmWave 1 should be:
*11th Doctor(AotD)
*Amy Pond(DoaS)
*Rory(TPoT)
*Dalek Drone in new color
*Dalek Strategist in new color
*Queen Neffertiti
*Riddell

and the cubes
Dalek Strategist
November 24th, 2012 - 9:12pmPrime Minister Dalek would be part of the Dalek Parliament set and the cubes would come with the Shakri
McGann is the Doctor
December 21st, 2012 - 10:15amNo point in making a T-rex because it was asleep.
They probably won’t make any of these figures, they will make 1 million Daleks, probably a rubbish innaccurate Doctor, some random character who nobody would want as a figure (the guy with the glasses in Power of Three) and afew variants of Dalek-puppets.
I would hate to be right, but this is a sad likeliness ! β
Kevin
November 21st, 2012 - 11:10amI think this is a terrible idea as the range at the moment are fine as they are. All they are doing is using less material to save money but yet will proberly sell for 7.99 like the star wars range. Waste of money.
McGann is the Doctor
November 21st, 2012 - 1:01pmExactly.
What they should have done is made better figures and get them back in stores.
Everyone loses now π
Hellbelly
December 21st, 2012 - 9:00amIt’s not a matter of making better figures and getting them back in stores. The retailers that matter for a mass market toy line (i.e. supermarkets) just aren’t interested anymore. That’s why the last few waves where mostly re-releases and minor tweaks. Less interest from retailers means smaller budget for each wave means sacrifices have to be made.
All toy lines eventually peter out and need something to revitalise them.
This is a chance to get Doctor Who action figures back at mainstream retail in a big way in time for the 50th anniversary.
Anonymous
December 21st, 2012 - 10:12amYeah, a BIG way.
Bit of irony there.
Zak
November 20th, 2012 - 4:57pmHope they don’t go ahead with this.
Kroton
November 20th, 2012 - 5:03pmits already confirmed, and there are some leaked pictures of them an they look the same!
Jjpj
November 20th, 2012 - 5:36pmThis is kinda pointless because I’ve already
Got loads of 5″ figures what would be the point
Of starting a new collection.
McGann is the Doctor
November 21st, 2012 - 12:58pmExactly, a very bad move CO .
the living shadow
November 7th, 2012 - 8:21pmhmm.. i’ll probably buy a couple but ive been collecting the old 5 inch figures for many years. still at least there going to be pocket size so id be able to take them with me to school when i get bored in lessons!!
i hope that they will be cheaper though
LG
November 15th, 2012 - 4:33pmI found some pictures of the new 3.75 inch scale figures!see http://grapesoda.theterrordrome.com/2012/11/first-look-at-doctor-who-3-75-figures-coming-in-2013/ they look awful, Matt smith looks demented!
booboo
November 15th, 2012 - 4:35pmthese are early test samples, never intended for close scrutiny
Steampunk Doctor
November 15th, 2012 - 5:23pmI find them quite neat personally , hopefully they’ll be the same price as usual 3.75 inch brands etc Avengers so about 7.99 – 8.99
Anonymous
December 21st, 2012 - 10:11amThey don’t look too bad, but the Doctor’s hair is wrong.
He has it more slicked back at the front were as in the figure he seems to have it down flat like Peter Davison β
Mels
November 5th, 2012 - 12:09pmThe pics I’ve seen of these new scale figures actually look pretty darn good! If we get a nice range, these actually might be quite exciting to collect!
will pond
November 5th, 2012 - 7:37pmi don’t want them to change cant we have a choose of what size figer we want that would be good.
the living shadow
November 7th, 2012 - 8:23pmit depends on the price though if there around Β£6-Β£8 ill buy them
