Master Replicas 1:6 Scale The Second Doctor

Available to order from www.zavvi.com and www.masterreplicas.com

Available to order from www.us.zavvi.com

The Second Doctor is the first in a new line of Master Replicas high-end One Six Scale Collector Figures,. It is being produced in a strictly limited edition of 500 pieces.

This incredibly detailed figure features a fully-realised likeness of Patrick Troughton, has over 30 points of articulation and interchangeable hands. It is dressed in an authentically styled fabric costume, comes with multiple accessories including a 500-year diary, recorder, and sonic screwdriver. The figure comes with a display base.

The Second Doctor, played by Patrick Troughton, was a revolutionary figure in Doctor Who’s history. He was more playful than his predecessor but his whimsical air hid darker characteristics and a sharp mind. This regeneration saw adventures on besieged Moonbases as he faced emotionless Cybermen, encounters with Martian Ice Warriors, Space Pirates, and a final confrontation with the Time Lords.

This is a preorder that will ship at end of the year. This is a strictly limited edition of 500 pieces.

Another Question, hopefully someone can Answer. I noticed on the Zavvi site there seems to be a Firm Release Date of this Figure of the 31st of October.
Yet the company that is Actually making these Figures (Master Replicas) can only Give a Rough idea of Release, saying End of this Year. (With a Provisional Date that could be pushed back)?

Zavvi (as well as some other retailers like Forbidden Planet) sometimes put a placeholder date on a product and then will update it as and when required before the product’s release. For example, I’ve had a hot toys figure on order which had a release date of January 15th 2025 when I pre ordered it but it’s now been moved to August 18th 2025.

      Hopefully that helps 🙂

Ah Jack, it was only a placeholder. I was Confused as Placeholder Dates are usually more Random than this such as the 31- 12- 2026, like the Last day of the Year or even the 1st day of the Year. Then when you inquire, the Company’s then says it’s only a Placeholder. To me this sounded like an Actual date.

I was a regular customer with big chief I lost my deposits on the master and Tom Baker figure’s. They had loads of figure’s in development before they went bust two of these were the master and the 2nd doctor looking at these pictures the clothes don’t seem to be the same quality of big chief. My theory are these are actually the head sculptures they had as they went bust. And when I bought My 007 sean connery I had to Sent the head back because the paint was flaking off and they sent me another head. So i imagine if you buy these and there’s something not quite right with it your kinda gonna be stuck with it.

Well no . If you pay by credit card and the product is not as advertised you can request a refund if the company doesn’t resolve for you

    Quick Question Guys.
I’m not can Expert on Retail, but if you did want to Buy these Figures, are you Better of Buying them at Retail (Zavvi) or Direct from Master Replicas.
(I was Wondering because if you Pre-Order from a Shop and they can’t Get hold of the item don’t they Usually Give you A Refund Straightaway, Choose However you payed or the Time limit Involved)?

Pre-order from Zavvi, they only take the money when released.

Hi Snowman – as Mark has stated, Zaavi only take the money at order dispatch.

However, I have had issues with Zaavi in the past, where you receive an email to advise that your order has been cancelled as their supplier has have been unable to get stock (mind you I have had the same issue with F.P too).

Despite this risk, I have ordered both figures from Zaavi to avoid paying upfront if ordered from M/R and to avoid losing money as I did with Big Chief.

Interesting. If the figures only limited to 500 only and all 500 are pre ordered direct from Master Replicas what happens to Zavvi’s allowance?

      June 15th, 2025 - 11:32am

I should imagine Zavvi have been alloted some Figures. Just Guessing the Numbers but say Master Replicas is letting them Have 250 Figures then that leaves MR with Just 250 to sell. That’s how it usually works.
It’s possible someone in Future will be Selling them aswell, such as in Australia but they will still come out of the Original 500 Figures.

I think they’ll carry on with what Big Chief were making. So just Peter Davidson, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy to Finish off and that’s a Full set of Doctors.
Not sure about anything from the Last Two Seasons as there doesn’t seem alot of Enthusiasm for the New Show, Either the Show or in Merchandise form.
These are very Expensive Items and Probably out of reach of the Children that would like a Figure of the latest Doctor. The Older Collectors that seem to have the Money for these Figures, I honestly can’t see them going Beserk to get there hands on the 15th Doctor.
      Only my Opinion though.

I know big chief has started work on a 15th doctor and 14th doctor so I think we may get them… I also hope we can get new releases of previously released figures for example 1st doctor war doctor and Clara Oswald as these are hard to come by new for a reasonable price

They weren’t officially announced but little shop props said they were working on the accessories for them so they were in some stage of development

I always question what elements in these 12” dolls justify the high costs as the bodies always look like some cheap ken doll from no matter what company you buy from and if it has real leather clothing in experience it always disintegrates after only a few years. It just falls to the stupid rule if it’s affordable it’s for kids and shameful for adults to buy if it’s expensive it’s totally okay for adults to buy because spending £100s on a toy is so grown up apparently.

    Hope this is helpful.
I wanted to check with the Financial Ombudsman, before I bought these two figures, that I would be protected by the Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.

If a purchase for a single item is made on a credit card that is between £100 and £30,000 then, should anything go wrong (e.g. the company goes bust,) the consumer has up to 6 years to make a claim.

Hopefully these figures will arrive way before that time is up but it gave me the reassurance that I wouldn’t lose out this time as with BCS.

Not to be Negative Matt, but if that’s the case and you can claim all your money Back up to 6 Years without any Problems, Why haven’t we heard of anyone getting Any Refunds from Big Chief, considering it was only around 3 to 4 years of time had past from Pre-Order to when they went bust.
I know some people will have payed on Debit Card while some People payed in installments which were under £100 which would be Exempt in that case.
But come on man no one got refunded?

    • Matt Y

      June 9th, 2025 - 11:09pm

Hello Snowman. I got refunded. I got back 2 thirds of the money I thought lost. This was through assistance from the Financial Ombudsman. As some of the items I preordered were paid by Paypal Credit (in full or in part) I was able to claim for the whole amount – these were the three pack of the Day of The Daleks and the Four Anniversary Figures of Doctors 9th to 12th.

The refunds didn’t come from BCS they came from the credit provider.

With an items that is part paid for on credit (even if it’s a low as 1p) then the whole amount is liable for refund.

Other items that I paid for by debit card were not refunded due to time limits (120 days).

However, this information is for now not in retrospect. If people want the security of knowing they will get their money back should it all go wrong with Master Replicas as with BCS then buying these figures on a credit card will give that security. As each figures is over £100.

Hope that now makes clear why I put this information up on this thread. I learnt a painful lesson with BCS and preordering – as many collectors did.

      June 10th, 2025 - 9:41am

No problem Matt. I had honestly never heard of anyone getting a refund from Big Chief, just Complaint after complaint about getting ripped off by them. Both on this Site and Big chiefs Facebook page, Twitter, Facebook and the Internet in General. I know on the Other Thread you said you lost £2,700.
I’m Glad some People managed to get some money Back.

      June 10th, 2025 - 10:12am

Being Totally Honest, I lost All the £800 that I had invested at the Time with Big Chief. I had Payed in Full for Each Item (over the £I00 Threshold) but Unfortunately with a Debit Card. I Didn’t realize at the Time but I find out later from you Guys that I don’t have the same Protection as with a Credit Card.
I’ve no choice though using Debit Cards as I don’t Own a Credit Card and I Never have.
As I mentioned before I’m Just glad I Cancelled some of my Orders (4 I think, but could have been more) before Big Chief went Bust.

Just be wary if you are paying by instalments which are below £100 as I did with the Tom Baker signature edition which was never produced and other figures from Big Chief.

I spoke to my Bank and they couldn’t help as it was below the £100 – I would have been better paying it all at the time but I had a number of figures on pre-order so lost a lot of money like many other BCS customers.

Also, there was no money left from the BCS liquidators to pay any Customers but I had to chase them to find the answer – you would think they would have advised all claimants.

Sadly it seems that most of these similar Companies always take pre-order payments upfront

Great thank you . I’ve ordered the 2nd Doctor using my credit card so feel safe enough . I too lost out when Big Chief went bust having the Master and S18 4th Doctor on order . I paid in monthly instalments so wasn’t covered . Feel ok about this purchase and hope the figure actually looks like the image.

I’d love this but I don’t want to risk losing money like lots of people have with preorders. And it’s extraordinarily expensive which makes the risk greater. Shame. Hopefully I can buy it if it ever actually gets produced.

I would rather wait until its announced when the items are being shipped. If i have to preorder if paid through my bank,i can usually cancel within 6 months and then it gives me the option to preorder again. Its when you exceed this time period the banks arent liable and its out of their hands.
I pulled out of those Big Chief orders when Eaglemoss went under and no communication from Big Chief when i questioned those sixth doctor and K-9 shipping dates. This made me wary and set alarm bells ringing. I made the right choice in the end.

Always make sure to pre-order large items like this that may not actually be made with a credit card, not a debit card. You’re protected under consumer rights with credit cards and so can claim your money back.

I was devastated I couldn’t get my S10 12th Doctor – But getting the money back was some small comfort.

It’s Just about the Delivery Date at the End of the Year being Provisional Only and could be subject to change. (Being Delayed).
Really Sorry to hear that Matt, £2,700 is a heck of a lot of Money.
I got done out of £800. Would have been the same amount as you but I cancelled my Captain Jack, The Master and a Gold Dalek and Grey Dalek Orders not long before they went bust as I was getting Worried about the Long delays and Eaglemoss just going Bust.

    • Huntley Alan

      June 7th, 2025 - 6:33pm

@Matt Y I’m guessing its this: “PLEASE NOTE: Although we do our best to ensure our estimated arrival date is as accurate as possible, this is a provisional date and therefore is subject to change as we receive further delivery information from the supplier.”

No one can guarantee dates like this, imo. Chinese factories can be unpredictable, there’s shipping delays and tariffs and many other factors thay can delay things. Even huge companies like Hasbro face delays on Star Wars and Marvel figures. This is pretty standard, just check with your bank and see what the time frame for a charge back on your card is and if the figure isn’t out just before then cancel the order and get your money back, if you’re concerned.
