Gareth Roberts to Sign Shada at Forbidden Planet

Gareth Roberts Signs Shada

Wednesday 14 March 2012 18:00 – 19:00
London Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR

GARETH ROBERTS will be signing DOCTOR WHO: SHADA (Ebury Books) at the Forbidden Planet London Megastore on Wednesday 14th March from 6 – 7pm.

Based on the scripts for the original television series by the legendary Douglas Adams, Shada retells a Tom Baker era adventure of the Doctor that never made it to the screen in 1979, due to industrial action.

The Doctor’s old friend and fellow Time Lord Professor Chronotis has retired to Cambridge University – where nobody will notice if he lives for centuries. But now he needs help from the Doctor, Romana and K-9. When he left Gallifrey he took with him a few little souvenirs – most of them are harmless. But one of them is extremely dangerous…

Gareth Roberts has written a huge number of Doctor Who spin off titles and has also written scripts for the TV Series and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Doctor Who: Shada (Hardcover)

From the unique mind of Douglas Adams, the legendary ‘lost’ Doctor Who story completed at last!

But one of them is extremely dangerous.

The Worshipful and Ancient Law of Gallifrey isn’t a book for Time Tots. It is one of the Artefacts, dating from the dark days of Rassilon.

It must not be allowed to fall into the wrong hands. And the sinister Skagra most definitely has the wrong hands. He wants the book. He wants to discover the truth behind Shada. And he wants the Doctor’s mind…

Based on the scripts for the original television series by the legendary Douglas Adams, Shada retells an adventure that never made it to the screen.

It should be, but if you want to be sure, don’t bother reading ther Dr Who magazine reviews, they tend to be VERY biased.

They hate Silver Nemesis in that magazine, but low and behold, it’s Victory of the Daleks ! “That episode was so good because we got to see the new Daleks ! We love the new Daleks, especially the Orange one !”
I’m like: 😯 Okay, putting this down for a while.

      Lawl ! 😀

Yeah, the cover is extremely poor. The top- and bottom-halves are perfect, but the gaudy “SHADA” in the centre completely ruins it.

It was the original finale to Series 17, that would have followed The Horns of Nimon, they were about two thirds of the way through filming it when they had to stop due to mass strikes in television (which had previously resulted in Doctor Who getting it’s highest ever ratings when ITV went down).
