Original concept for the Cybermen had them as being 10ft tall, but obviously the BBC hasn’t ever cracked finding a 10ft tall actor! So as far as I’m concerned, the Moonbase cyberman is “correct”. Plus it looks amazing! Might have to individually source one of these…

It’s a Moonbase Cyberman actually, and I believe they hired very tall actors to play the Cybermen in both of those stories, so probably yes.

      March 20th, 2015 - 8:14pm

      yes they did

I believe i read somewhere (and i might be wrong here) that the character one was made out scale as it didn’t look right with the others, either that or it was something to do with the Wheel cybermen not being made

I really love this Moonbase Cyberman!
They’ll do a Wheel of Space Cyberman too?

    • The Werewolf

      March 21st, 2015 - 11:08am

Ben Robinson and Neil Corey have mentioned that a Wheel in Space Cyberman is likely and that a regular 2006 one is a definite.

Also, it seems that the actual Moonbase Cyberman figurine (issue 53) will be a little smaller than that one.

It amazes me that they can recreate these characters so well, considering the scale…, really like all of the one’s I’ve bought so far & I’m looking forward to getting more too. 🙂

I think the wires are far too big, but otherwise, I think it is rather nice figurine. I sort of like the way they have tried to blend the generic black hexagonal base with Cassandra’s base actually, and while it doesn’t work as well as they probably intended, I think it’s the best compromise. It’s also nice to have a figurine of something that my sister has heard of which hasn’t happened for a while.

Not overly concerned because I dont like cassandra and dont collect many of the new series figures now….but I dont like it…some how the delicacy has been lost probably because of the reduction in scale….and was the brain that prominent… I dont think it was…

Do classic Zygon and Ice Warrior as well as the new one, it’s not fir only the Daleks and Cybermen have all their version released

    They should release:
    Missy from The Magician’s Apprentice/The Witch’s Familiar/Dark Water/Death In Heaven
Whisperman from ‘The Name of the Doctor’
Classic Zygons, Ice Warriors and Autons
    Most of the Companions
    Mummys from ‘Pyramids of Mars’
    Borad from ‘Timelash’
War Machines from ‘The War Machines’
    Scaroth from ‘City of Death’

    Sleepers from ‘Last Christmas’
    Sensorites from ‘The Sensorites’

More Troughton and Hartnell era figures please…for that matter more from Colin’s era too !!! Perhaps bringing forward Colins figure and the rest of the classic Doctors would be a good start…..So far its not a very ’rounded’ celebration of 50 years no matter how good the ‘new series’ figures are….

IThey won’t bring forward the Doctors, they are intentionally spaced out to keep certain collectors hanging on for as long as possible (as some will inevitably abandon the collection as soon as they have all the Doctors). Also you need to remember the ratios, a fair, balanced collection would actually at the moment work out pretty neatly at about 20% for each decade (so one in five roughly each). There has to be a large modern representation to match this, just as much as the older stuff but inevitably incredibly recent stuff will be fresher in people’s minds and so more popular, skewing this off balance. At the end of the day the ones wanting older characters are more likely to wait than the kids wanting new stuff, its all about keeping the sales up so they are able to occasionally please.

Can not wait for these to come out, even though the Handbot does look great, WHY?!?!, I dont mind it but what about some other monsters for that series such as: The Minotaur, The antibodies, Headless monks (with sword) even Madame Kovarian would be great from the series, even the Whispermen from Series 7 part 2 would be great

    • TheMissingDoctor

      March 2nd, 2015 - 1:48pm

I have no problem with the classic series monsters and characters, in fact i love them, but new series characters aren’t that bad but to have new series characters brings in the younger generations interest to the figurines but I do agree VespiformsSting but you’ve got to think of the younger generations.

Lady Cassandra would be better if it was more transparent than a resin, would of added some depth to the figurine

Because it was pretty well put about that it was going to be a ‘weepie’ ‘sentimental’ who story…exactly what I thing is the main problem with new who in fact I hate the excess of sentimentaility..and the rest of that season – lets admit it – was pretty dire ..(I’d rate it as one of the worst seasons of Who ever – if not the worst)

    • VespiformsSting

      March 1st, 2015 - 7:53pm

..and didnt moffatt himself say if you ‘dont like dr who why watch’…so I took his advice…mainly because at the time I thought ‘fair enough if thats going to be your attitude..’

Haha…the phrase “cutting nose off to spite face” springs to my. I thought it was a fantasitc story. The actors really excelled themselves. Great Timey Wimey stuff too.

If you are not going to watch it, then great..but dont decide not to watch and STILL moan (esp when its based on no facts)

    • TheExtremeBlueTARDIS

      March 2nd, 2015 - 7:25pm

But to be pretty fair I don’t think Moffat means skip an episode if you don’t like the show. These days all shows have emotional stuff in it, so it’s never going to return to Classic Who format.

But I do agree about how weak Series 6 was.

The Handbot is the least deserving of a spot in my opinion. They were very forgettable ‘monsters’ in a very forgettable story in the most forgettable series of the revival. Still can’t believe this was given the green light. Where is Linx the Sontaran? Clockwork Droid? Krillitane? Haemavore? Sutekh? Sharaz Jek? Sil? Classicc Silurian? Ogron? Paradigm Dalek? Plamet Supreme Dalek? Missy? Delgado/Simm Masters? Mandrel? Kraal? Menoptera? Zarbi? Vervoid? Quark? Axon? Auton?

Okay Ill admit, after typing them out some of them sound cool.

The Master is more reminiscent of the look Geoffrey Beevers sports in the Big Finish audios than Peter Pratt in The Deadly Assassin, but with a darker paint job he’ll be spot on. I’ve always had a soft spot for this incarnation.
