Figurine Collection Magazine Issue 204 Navarino

The Doctor Who Figurine Collection part 204 features a Navarino from the 1987 Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) adventure ‘Delta and the Bannermen’.

Shape-changing alien tourists, the Navarino used transformation arches to disguise themselves as humans and take in exotic Earth culture – such as Disneyland, or a holiday camp in Wales. Their true form resembled giant purple starfish, with a warbling voice and extremely low stamina.

The Seventh Doctor and Mel tagged along, only for their spacefaring tour bus to run into the intergalactic criminals called the Bannerman, who killed all the Navarino on board. The Bannerman were searching for the refugee Delta, who was fleeing genocide with her child – fortunately, the Doctor was able to protect her, and she was resettled on Earth.

Does anyone know when this fabulous Navarino will be available to pre order? Or a link to it on EagleMoss. As I can’t find one.

I think demand for this is going to be Big. Don’t want to miss-out.

I didn’t think Eaglemoss would be able to surprise me with a release anymore. But they have and it’s a welcome one.

Neil, I love the more obscure characters! My favourite so far is the Anne-droid! Give us more of these kind of figurines.

It’s good to have obscure figurines done but there is quite a few really good ones that I think are long overdue from Tom mid era like the fendahl, rutan, weng chieng, krynoid, virus, black guardian, and pertwees mutant,King peladon, maggot, peladon miner, arkturus, spider etc.
One thing considering the 5th doctor did 3 seasons plus 20th anniversary I think his incarnation has been neglected the most with the fewest figurines per stories, and still not one special? Mara, murka, tss, awakening head,
    Android robot,monarch,enlightment,persuasion,tractator,black/white guardian,federators son,malice,dojan with the minds eye,timonov,mawdryn undead,2 versions of the brigadier,raston warrior robot,five doctors yeti, rassilon,dalek commander lyton,commander maxil,kamillion,eternal,captain rack,cyberman guard robots etc

There are some good suggestions here – a reminder that EM have such a vast and diverse treasure box to draw ideas from. I’m up for figurines of the Malus, the Black Guardian, the Tractators, Kamelion etc I believe EM have already done a model of Weng-Chiang. There’s been a lot of calls in the past for a Raston Warrior robot figurine but I can’t help thinking it would turn out to be a quite a ‘bland’ figurine – I’d be more interested in a damaged Cyberman from the Five Doctors – chest exploding, javelin in arm etc… I’m definitely looking forward to a Terileptil Android, I think EM could do a terrific job with it.

Actually the only figurine they have done from talons is magnus greel not weing chieng which I think would be very good colourful character and a bit like the celestial toymaker, on that note also how about lightfoot and jago figurines? Boxset maybe with weing, lightfoot, jago, and Leela In her theatre dress?

Also I have seen comments hoping the series will go 220,250 issues but frankly as this has surpassed any other collection by miles due to its popularity it could easily go past 300. And it’s also about viability if it keeps selling with our support there is no reason why it will not do so, as also someone has already pointed out a new 39th series(13) due soon and the impending 14th doctor ? Must admit I would be happy for jodie to continue and 60th anniversary things can only get more interesting

Hi Chris – I think you might be describing Li H’sen Chang there – the Chinese ventriloquist who worked with Mr Sin (and for Magnus Greel). Technically, Weng-Chiang never really appears as a character in Talons – just Greel impersonating him. Totally agree, Li H’sen would make a great figurine

If Neil and Co keeps getting this kind of reaction to very minor characters they might decide to make more of them (fingers crossed).
I havnt seen this kind of reaction for Daleks or Cybermen.

I love this figurine! This is what is just so fantastic about this collection that we can get these obscure characters and monsters. It adds such breadth to the collection and I’m hoping for a few more to come.

Not my favourite story by any means but these were quite amusing creatures and it is great to have them.

Thanks Neil (and everyone else) for this!

I’m really hoping they will do the Taran Wood Beast but Neil has said there have been problems getting clearance to do it. I’m really hoping it may yet appear.

Still holding out hope for a Krarg too! I’d love to see that as a figurine most of all I think.

Menace of the walking sea cucumber alert! I’ve been re-watching quite a few of the Seventh Doctor’s stories recently – Delta and the Bannerman included. Great to see these obscure aliens being added to the collection.

How about the Terileptil Android, EM? Classic design.
