Figurine Collection Magazine Issue 204 Navarino

The Doctor Who Figurine Collection part 204 features a Navarino from the 1987 Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) adventure ‘Delta and the Bannermen’.

Shape-changing alien tourists, the Navarino used transformation arches to disguise themselves as humans and take in exotic Earth culture – such as Disneyland, or a holiday camp in Wales. Their true form resembled giant purple starfish, with a warbling voice and extremely low stamina.

The Seventh Doctor and Mel tagged along, only for their spacefaring tour bus to run into the intergalactic criminals called the Bannerman, who killed all the Navarino on board. The Bannerman were searching for the refugee Delta, who was fleeing genocide with her child – fortunately, the Doctor was able to protect her, and she was resettled on Earth.

Another wonderful figurine in hand! Only in this collection would we get characters like this and I love getting these more obscure monsters.

Really hoping for some more characters that have never been featured in merchandise before. Vega Nexos (from ‘Monster of Peladon’) and The Collector would be fantastic if they’re possible to do, and could be done like the Borad without a base.

Really don’t want this collection to end yet!

Just finished a re-watch of The Sunmakers a couple of weeks ago – I agree the Collector would make an excellent figurine although his chair is quite wide at the back, and I wonder if that would necessitate it being a Special? In general, there’s quite a lot of cool characters they could still do from Seasons 15 & 16, they have really done 17 justice over the years, so I’m crossing my fingers we’ll see some earlier Graham Williams-era love in 2022.

This, the cyber controller and the solonian mutt arrived today. But I’m still waiting on 202, 203 and the weeping angel Statue of Liberty.
I might be missing a rare Dalek also.
I’m not sure what’s happening with Eaglemoss at the moment. All I was told over the phone was, there were delays.

Nobody has had subscriptions delivered for these as yet, let alone the shop. Looking to next week now. The sets seem to be getting through quicker.

Apparently it’s Brexit rules that’s causing the delays

It is Brexit. Never had as bad these delays even during the height of the pandemic last year!

Its had nothing to do with Brexit. Covid and high energy prices in places like China have been the issues. Big Chief Studios have had the same problems. Factories have been closed for 5 days each week leaving only 2 days working which has slowed production. Hopefully things should improve soon.

Have noticed FP keep shifting the date? Other day it said it was expected today, now it’s tomorrow. I really do miss the good old days when this series was available every 2 weeks without fail in the newsagents!

Just been advised the price is going up by £1 per issue from this issue. Not a surprise, but unwelcome nevertheless. For the price they need to find a better way of sending these out – fed up with receiving crumpled and creased magazines.

      July 27th, 2021 - 2:28pm

Yes, booboo, I had a subscription email just after midday showing my revised direct debit payments schedule up to the proposed issue 220 – together with an explanation that “due to increased production costs”, the standard price is increasing to £10.99 per issue from 204 and my premium subscription will be £11.99 per issue.

Yes, I was thinking that too. I’ve been collecting since issue 1 – like many others I’m sure – and really would like to complete the collection. But if there are any further price increases I’d have to seriously consider my subscription.

I still think i,d collect these to the end now. Theres a new horror collection from eaglemoss starting seotember and i,m tempted to collect some of those.now i,m not sure of the scale of those but they are up for £20.99 on hmvs site. As long as they keep this collection going and sate most of us with items we want and keep quality in check, then i don,t mind a small increase.just not too often.

Couldn’t remember this creature in the DatBM episode, so I went back to watch it again. I estimate that it had about 10s of screen time (probably why I didn’t remember it).

I do like it when Eaglemoss comes up with a real obscure creature. Well done guys & gals.

No reason why Eaglemoss can’t do one of the Cleaners but it would have to be a special, because of its size.
While where on the subject of Cleaners I’d like to see them do the Third Doctor as a cleaner.
