Another i expected to turn up in a flux or companions set. The track record with humanoids or humans isnt great. A waste of a slot for me.

Have to agree with you Ergon. Much as I love this collection, I wish they would focus bit more on the monsters! They usually do them so well.

Seems very likely we’ll get the ‘Grand Serpent’ too. Like T’zim Sha, another character we were supposed to think was far more significant that they actually were.

To be honest I think Vinder was a bit of non-character too and the drippy love story was a plot strand that could easily have been dropped.

I can only surmise there will be more story themed box sets way down the line to accommodate those sparce seasons and monsters we most want in our collection.
Incidentally doug, will you be purchasing Rago and the quark from the harrops line? Coleman kindly asked dan if they would be making a terileptil and android further down the line and he responded its two he had down and were very likely to be made.

Yes I’m hoping there will be some good story themed sets down the line! For example, a ‘Stones of Blood’ (Cailleach, Cessair of Diplos, Ogri) or a ‘Two Doctors’ (Stike, Varl, Chessene) set would be great. So many possibilities!

Not sure about the Harrops Dominator and Quark, Ergon. I missed the Daffodil Auton (slept in believe it or not!) and don’t collect them all but a Dominator would be good.

Be good if they did one of the other Terileptils other than the leader. The blue/red one would look really striking I think.

I,d take Shockeye over Varl anyday for a Two doctors set but these two sontarans were distinctly taller with longer necks. A sontaran clone rogue batch i reckon doug. LOL

Ha! Yes a rogue bunch indeed. And with very loose collars. As sometimes happened the 80s versions did not always benefit from the ‘upgrades’. See also Sea Devils!

Shockeye could be a great figurine too.

Back in the heyday when they seemed to really take pride in this collection, the faces were really good. Tenth Doctor, Ninth Doctor, in fact every doctor apart from 11 were brilliant. As was Timothy Daltons Rassilon, my figurine is brilliant, the details on the face.

But nowadays it’s just so sad. The humans began to become the worst figurines but the monsters were still brilliant. But nowadays we’ve moved onto humans and now even some of the monsters not looking very good. Compare Ood Sigma years ago to the impossible planet ood they did last year i think, and the elder ood coming soon. Or the first judoon to the completely out of scale judoon from series 12. They’re just miles apart.

Yes stu standards have certainly slipped from those early issues with just the odd blip (5th Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan, Leela) and on occasion really shoddy paintwork. Saying that Its a collection which overall has been quite outstanding for what they are and i can remember when i first saw Issue one in a local newsagents with Matt smith and thinking ‘Ah, yes, one of those partwork collections, i bet it just focuses on the new series and will most likely be limited to so many Issues’. (Initially i didn,t buy into it at least not until The Morbius Creature (Issue 28) which i was drawn towards whyllst shopping for something completely different in a local Forbidden Planet. It would feature the odd already made classic monster thrown in to no doubt get younger children interested in the classic series as well, but it would predominantly be new series riding the wave of the highly popular Tennant and Smith Eras. Who knew back then that the popularity of this collection would soar all the way to 250 with boxsets, TARDIS’, consoles etc all added to this as a sideline. I doubt if any other collection will ever get this far in so little a time, at least not in my lifetime and especially covering all those eras to date. I,m so thankful for that. As for scale I,ve just come to terms with this being just another quirk. Its just a case of separating the larger scale with the smaller items and might even come useful when you wish to stand some of those character figures alongside some of these.
