Figurine Collection Magazine Issue 149 The Ghost
Out early May 2019, the Doctor Who Figurine Collection part 149 features the Ghost as he appears in the 2016 Christmas special episode,’ The Return of Doctor Mysterio’.
Accidentally given super-powers as a child, Grant Gordon as an adult is a nanny by day and a caped crime-fighting vigilante at night.
That his life and the Doctor’s are intertwined is far from strange as it’s pretty much the Doctor’s fault that Grant has super-powers!

March 1st, 2019 - 9:43amLove the episode to bits, it’s an all time favourite. But I’m not convinced we need a figurine of this.

February 28th, 2019 - 3:44pmI suppose we have to have characters from an era I didn’t like but at least they are catering for those who like it. God knows what they are going to do with the Jodie Whittaker era !! Having a subscription means I will be getting figures from an era I actually stopped watching after the awful Pting thing.

February 28th, 2019 - 3:52pmAnd yet again with the negative… my niece is desperate for Jodie era figures. And speaking as a 45 year fan of who I loved Jodie’s era.

February 28th, 2019 - 4:03pmThis negativity is really getting old and boring now.

February 28th, 2019 - 4:41pmId love to see a pting figure, along with other ones from the last series.

February 28th, 2019 - 5:33pmI totally agree no enemies from Jodie’s era bar the Dalek from the new years day special is worthy of a figurine in this collection.
booboo
February 28th, 2019 - 5:39pmwell i would love a Thijarian, but drawer a line at a frog on a chair
I think we are bound to see Tzim-Sha as well

February 28th, 2019 - 5:42pmDraw a line at a frog on a chair
Bet you never thought you’d ever be typing that sentence boo boo! The Thijarian would be a great addition. I’d love a kerblam robot as well.

February 28th, 2019 - 5:48pmyes forgot that one, to be honest i tend to look at merchandise as a hobby and as a whole, some of the best merchandise can be associated with some of the worst episodes.
The figurine collection is producing figures i though we would never ever see and long may it continue.

February 28th, 2019 - 5:53pmExactly boo boo. I mean I love the krotons story though it is rubbish and the kroton design does not work in the studio or on location but the figurine is brilliant!
The ergon
March 1st, 2019 - 12:12amThe top half of the kroton works and luckily we mainly only get the POV shots on location. You love it but think its rubbish. Thats ambiguous. Though agree its not one of the troughton greats.

March 1st, 2019 - 7:37amLet me explain, the plot is dodgy, the acting poor by certain guest actors and I don’t care. It the same with other classic era stories.
The ergon
March 1st, 2019 - 9:24amThats fine. We could apply the same analogy to some modern stories as well.

March 1st, 2019 - 10:29amWe’ll have plenty from Series 11. And we had Very Serious conversations about the frog on the chair.

March 1st, 2019 - 11:00amPlease do the frog on the chair! Mainly to so we get see people explode in righteous anger!

March 1st, 2019 - 11:11amThe return of doctor mysterio is a perfect example of that approach ergon. I’m not a fan of superheroes so that element didn’t work for me. Of new who this is a story I do struggle with however I always look for something good in a who story. It can be anything. In some cases in the classic era it’s a particular good model effect or one standout performance. In mysterio I think the sci-fi element is great. It’s all about being positive. I love nightmare of eden but I’m the first to say that it’s got it’s problems. Tom’s acting is a bit overboard in places, some of the guest actors are a bit below par, the sets and costumes are ropey as hell. But… lalla ward is great as is David daker and the story once stripped of the silliness is very adult. Give positivity a chance people!
The ergon
March 1st, 2019 - 1:20pmAnd thats the thing, people will take out of each individual story what they like and don,t like. There are ideas that work on screen and some that look good on paper that dont translate as well. Its the same with casting but i sometimes prefer the miscast or an over the top performance especially from the classic series rather than some uninspired bland actor with no acting chops who may as well just stand with the extras in the background. I would sooner have an overacting David daker on vraxoin, Brian Blessed booming at all and sunder or a bewildered Beryl reid as a captain of a cargo ship. Thats part of the fun.
With mysterio, I didn,t feel the need for Doctor who to go down the superheroe route. It did the same thing with those Iron Legion style cybermen from Death in Heaven. I like the ghost/ Grant figurine but only because he appeared in Doctor Who.I wasn,t that keen on the Superman style sub plot. The villains and that whole business with harmony shoal was alright, though that wasn,t much of a threat either but it was those Q and A squeaky toy scenes really grated the most in that particular story.

March 1st, 2019 - 1:35pmExactly ergon. Now I’m not keen on this story as you aren’t as well and that’s fine. But there will be people who love it and the thing is that’s fine as well. If someone said to me that mysterio is their favourite who story I won’t shout them down and insist they agree with me! It’s all a matter of opinion. I prefer the post nightmare in silver cybermen just because the remind me of moonbase/tomb cybermen. Mate of mine loves the ironman version another prefers the invasion style and so on. No one is right no one is wrong. Just means that for every figure there is an audience… and yes that means there will be figures of characters some people don’t like. To put it bluntly… just get over it and think about the release after the one you don’t like. As to those who will say but I subscribe then my answer is simple. If you don’t want all the figures don’t subscribe. If you only want figures you like why subscribe in the first place?
The ergon
March 1st, 2019 - 2:19pmEach to his/her own. And for the record i subscribe to them all. (If the quality is to standard).

March 1st, 2019 - 4:10pmBring on the frog on a chair, I’d love one tbh.
The ergon
February 28th, 2019 - 2:32pmI like this as well and likely to be the only representation of the ‘Ghost’ were likely to get for those that are interested. Not that keen on the story itself mind. I,d like to know when 150 is going to be revealed.
The Werewolf
March 1st, 2019 - 9:02pmThere is the little metal model by Warlord Games as well.

February 28th, 2019 - 1:59pmAwesome! Love this episode!

February 28th, 2019 - 1:37pmStick to the classics, nobody wants figures like this. Hence why they sit on the shelves unloved at Smiths or end up in bargain bins at Forbidden Planet. Could have given us a nice Slyther instead.
Colin
February 28th, 2019 - 1:44pmWell I like it 🙂

February 28th, 2019 - 2:47pmWe will always mix the new and the classic series. I know it might seem surprising to some but we do know what we’re doing.

February 28th, 2019 - 3:55pmI’m happy with new and classic series stuff really, it’s all great. Good job with rusty neil, will we get a recon dalek soon or a damaged dalek thay/paradigm supreme from wedding of river song.
Just one quirk, how come the metalic paradigm dalek you guys made were using the original sculpt instead of the revised reduced hump and pushed in back panel one?

February 28th, 2019 - 9:17pmNeil you guys are doing pretty good but please don’t tell us Pig Slave and Ghost are more desired than Wilfred Mott or The Next Doctor.I will however take Santa from Last Christmas please for number 174.
