Doctor Who The Six Doctors TD Novel 1

Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk, www.hive.co.uk, www.bookshop.org and www.waterstones.com

The Six Doctors is a ‘lost classic’ by Terrance Dicks, revealing the original conception of The Five Doctors. Based on newly discovered scripts and treatments by Terrance Dicks – perhaps the most beloved Doctor Who author of all – Simon Guerrier’s novelisation of The Six Doctors reveals the original conception of The Five Doctors, a radically different take on one of the most celebrated Who adventures ever told.

‘Play the game, Doctor. Destroy your other selves!’ Fireballs tear through time and space. Each one hunts down a different incarnation of the Doctor… ready to erase them in an instant. But one Doctor is offered a terrible alternative. He can not only survive but live forever – if he agrees to help destroy his other selves. One Doctor. One timeline. One victor. The Fourth Doctor would usually refuse without hesitation. But after escaping E-Space he feels his life running out and knows he is nearing the end of his time. With nothing to lose, he accepts his role in the deadliest game of all…

Intriguing….but January and March are just too far away…!
Oh for the days when you could just walk into WH Smiths….and a totally unexpected new Dr Who book (or any other book….Aliens, Douglas Adams, Omen V) would be just there….!

Harry Harrison books, Dennis Wheatley, there used to be rows of his books in shops, Jack Higgins, Alistair mcclean. And I’ve just ordered the novelisation of the Clint Eastwood film pale rider which is being re-released 39 years after it first came out. My copy was lost decades ago. Ahh, omen v… shame the omen books aren’t still available

Of course, with the Dr Who magazine, they revealed when some of the books were coming out…
      Keeper of Traken
      The Leisure Hive
      The Visitation
      Full Circle
But others were a complete surprise….walking into Smiths one morning and seeing the Logopolis book…!
And Omen IV as well as V….

I got state of decay in a shop on a day trip to Edinburgh. Complete surprise it was in and I’ve still got the bookmark I bought that day.

I remember going in to look for them too. Managed to get to see a bookshop’s catalogue when I asked what was coming out… about the time of the Robots of Death book, I think. Was quite put out when they started re-issuing some with new covers and a different logo, and no back cover illustration. Couldn’t get Doomsday Weapon with the original cover (as shown on the back of The Monster Book) and had to make do with the non-Achilleos reissue! Alas!

Might have to weaken and get these in hardback. Not bothered by original fiction these days but unmade scripts… yes please. And uncle terrance scripts! Yes, might have to stretch the budget. Plus still waiting for chimes of midnight paperback so these might have to bought straightaway. Of course they may be subject to the usual book release delays that seem to regularly affect who releases and many other books.
