The ‘Other Doctor’ is the Doctor’s dark chapter, an _hitherto unknown incarnation whose existence he has spent centuries repressing, a secret he wants no one to know of.
He is a relic of the past, part of the great Time War, when he spent centuries fighting alongside his fellow Time Lords against the Daleks and made the final decision to end it with a desperate act that cost that incarnation the right to use the name “Doctor”.
This haunted and battle-worn Other Doctor is finally forgiven after helping find a new solution to end the war, giving the Eleventh Doctor a new purpose as he heads into further adventures.
The Other Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver, as seen in the 50th anniversary episode: “The Day of the Doctor”. Includes sound and light FX.
Requires 2 x AG13/LR44/L1154 button cell batteries, Demo batteries included. Ages 5+.

November 27th, 2013 - 8:13amwell (if you have watched the prequel to day of the doctor) the eighth doctor (Paul Mcgann) is using the original sonic and i guess over time it was just easier to use for the warrior

November 27th, 2013 - 2:33amThat’s not the official name. Right from the mouth of Moffat himself, the John Hurt Doctor’s official title is ‘The War Doctor’.
To quote Moffat, “He’s just The Doctor, Matt Smith’s Doctor is the 11th Doctor, however there is no such character as the 11th Doctor – he’s just the Doctor – that’s what he calls himself. The numbering doesn’t matter, except for those lists that you and I have been making for many years. So I’ve given you the option of not counting John Hurt numerically – he’s the War Doctor.”

November 25th, 2013 - 10:02pmNot sure if its worth getting this, or buying the Baker and rebuying the Pertwee for new sounds?? They are awesome!
Clayderman
November 25th, 2013 - 9:37pmI REALLY want one… But £20 seems overpriced, especially for the sonics on sale these days! 🙂 But since it’s just passed the 50h Anniversary, and christmas is JUST around the corner, i’d say they should drop the price to around £15 – £16.99, it’s STILL reasonable…
booboo
November 25th, 2013 - 9:40pmthe previous underground toys 4th and 3rd were £17.99 and that was a few years ago, yes it sounds a lot but in reality its about the same price as the others
the re-releases mass market and have already partly earned their keep
Dark Lord
November 25th, 2013 - 9:41pmHere here…! They may do just that, come early new year when Christmas has been and gone.
Clayderman
November 26th, 2013 - 5:35pmI don’t exactly blame them for the price, I think every sonic release has been between £15 – £29*
*Sonic Screwdriver / Sonic Pen Set…
Clayderman
November 26th, 2013 - 5:57pmAlso, I would’ve preferred it had the sounds not have cycled through, instead, the red cap at the bottom would’ve been removable to change the sounds, quite similar to the original release of River Song’s Screwdriver!

DOCTOR WHO ONE
November 25th, 2013 - 5:25pmI imagine this is the 7th / 8th Doctors Sonic Screwdriver from the TV Movie, modified by the War Doctor, or rather a replacement of the one used in the TV Movie, cos Doctor Who Magazine’s last 8th Doctor comic-strip, The Flood, featuring Cybermen from the future, featured a Cyberleader crushing the 8th Doctors Sonic Screwdriver, and since I consider everything involving the 8th Doctor as cannon in between the classic series and the new series, then it would seem the War Doctor’s one is a modified version of a replacement the 8th Doctor got.
DOCTOR WHO ONE
November 25th, 2013 - 5:26pm[Continued]
after his original got crushed in the Flood comic strip.

November 25th, 2013 - 4:32pmSM called him 8.5, the numbers dont matter, he is A Doctor now
#savetheday
November 25th, 2013 - 4:26pmHe is the 9th incarnation of the character, but no really the doctor.
If there can only be 13 Doctors, then Peter Capaldi is the last one. I hope they find a way to work that out.
The Surgeon
November 25th, 2013 - 4:46pmDoctor 8A. Technically just the War Doctor.
The Surgeon
November 25th, 2013 - 4:47pmAlso, the Doctor said in ‘The Impossible Astronaut’ (I believe) that he can regenerate 512 times.
#savetheday
November 25th, 2013 - 5:09pmIt might not make a difference, but in SJA he said he had 507 lives.
But that’s written by someone else, so it might not be true.

BlueBox2013
November 25th, 2013 - 5:35pmby the time Capaldi’s the doctor he would have broken the 12 regenerations rule as tennant regenerated twice
Pete da Cald
November 25th, 2013 - 5:35pmThat “someone else” who wrote the Sarah Jane Adventure Matt Smith appeared in as the 11th (?) Doctor was Russel T Davies, the man who resurrected Doctor Who in 2005 and picked Steven Moffat to be his successor!
Not that I think the Doctor was doing anything more than joking in either instance, but given who the two writers who have had him joking about having 500+ Regenerations are, perhaps there’s more to this than one might first suppose! 🙂
Daley95
November 26th, 2013 - 4:00pmNo Moffat said he can’t remember being a true doctor so he is still known as the war doctor but he said if they really want a numbering he is the 8.5 doctor happy now?

November 25th, 2013 - 3:50pmI really liked Hurt’s Doctor and I don’t mind that it’s a rehashed 4th Doctor sonic. My only problem is that they were charging £20 for it, which is twice the price as the regular ones. If it will be available in shops, people who bought it for £20 will not be happy I think.
booboo
November 25th, 2013 - 4:07pmi thought £20 was a lot to be honest but i doubt it will be on mass release, i certainly wouldn’t expect licence holders to hike the price of something to take advantage.
Balakin
November 25th, 2013 - 4:15pmI hope so.
I wasn’t there at the con, but I saw the toy on twitter and called a friend who was there to pick it up for me, and I knew about the price only after the purchase. But if it’s really an exclusive piece, I don’t mind the price (but I would feel sorry for the fans who didn’t have the chance to buy it).
