March 6th, 2021 - 11:56amThe tray on my boxset is loose! Like its come not attached! Is there any way I can get a replacement seeing as they’re so limited?
Rob W
March 6th, 2021 - 2:49pmI’d doubt it, notify the seller about the problem. Ask about any replacement or a partial refund of say £5?
Haza14
March 7th, 2021 - 1:39amI’m worried mine might be like this as well! Certainly sounds like something might be loose inside. I haven’t been brave enough to open it yet.
I absolutely love these sets, but I do wish the quality control for the packaging was a bit better. When you’re lucky enough to get a perfect one it’s amazing but it seems to be a bit hit and miss which makes me nervous when having to preorder online.

March 6th, 2021 - 9:42amMines just arrived. I,m going to soak up those extras this afternoon feet up and with a few beers. Just what the doctor ordered.

March 6th, 2021 - 11:05amNice one Ergon.
Mine says will be delivered on Monday from Amazon.
Not sure how there gonna managed it though, when I looked at my account this morning it still hasn’t been despatched yet?
Bobby Fackrell
March 6th, 2021 - 11:45amAmazon usually dispatch late Saturday or Sunday, I always get them on release day, on series 10 was a day late and they emailed me to say it would be
Coleman
March 6th, 2021 - 11:53amThanks Bobby, haven’t dealt with Amazon much in the past. Much prefer Zoom, but they’ve changed hands. I hope it doesn’t come in a plastic bag like the last two videos I’ve bought from them.
Denis
March 6th, 2021 - 1:56amYes, think I remember Argos put them up about 4.30am when season 14 came out
philip shaw
March 5th, 2021 - 10:16pmNoticed the spine picture is like Trial of a Time Lord with the master’s head poking up…on the mock up just the Doctor.

March 5th, 2021 - 11:14pmReally? They messed it up again.
You would think they would check these things at least twice before printing them and sending haha

Bobby Fackrell
March 5th, 2021 - 7:11pmNo but it is only Friday still, it will probably be over the weekend sometime, I’ve got them all from Amazon the only one which was late was series 10, it was only one day and Amazon notified me about it, they are very good

March 5th, 2021 - 6:18pmI think Argos only put them up on release date so try early on the 8th hopefully they show up

March 5th, 2021 - 6:03pmHas anyone had a zoom dispatch email? Still on “sent to warehouse” for me
Chris
March 5th, 2021 - 6:26pmMine says the same.
But another blu Ray I recieved two weeks ago still says sent to warehouse. Even though it’s arrived
daz
March 5th, 2021 - 6:50pmNo point looking at status on Zoom as been taken over so it won’t change. The email you got before the take over is technically your dispatch notification…
“Please note that your order will be physically dispatched to you on March 5th to arrive with you in time for the March 8th release date.”
Pete X
March 6th, 2021 - 10:48amReceived my copy from Zoom this morning. There was no dispatch email (they’ve never been a regular occurrance though) and it’s still shown as sent to warehouse on my account managment page.

March 5th, 2021 - 5:09pmCan’t find it listed on their website unfortunatly Dennis.

March 5th, 2021 - 12:08pmDid you get a despatch notification from them? My order still says ‘Sent to Warehouse’

March 5th, 2021 - 12:33pmYes you should get a notification mate. Zoom aimed to despatch today so you should have it by Tuesday at the latest, but maybe tomorrow Bobby.

March 5th, 2021 - 5:36amJust had a dispatch email from Zavvi, which is unusual for me as they normally send DW blu rays a week after release date. Am very excited for this set, the restoration work and new extras look amazing! Helps that it’s one of my fave seasons as well!

March 4th, 2021 - 10:50amI noticed in the Season 8 Blu-Ray preview interview with Chris Chapman around the 8:30 mark he seems to mistake Season 8 and says Season 5 twice in a row, most likely said in error I know but got me wondering if that season is especially on his mind currently
Anonymous
March 4th, 2021 - 1:02pmDepending on how the animations lineup there is a good chance it could be ready to go in the next couple of years (probably animated in 2022, season release in 2023).
Bit off to already be planning it, but they could very well be drawing up their plans for the 60th now.
Pete X
March 4th, 2021 - 5:45pmGiven his answer to the question about the B&W seasons, it’s a genuine mistake.
That’s quite an interesting interview. If anyone is interested it’s here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UifxOCXdynU (peels self off floor after the stampede)
Bobby Fackrell
March 4th, 2021 - 10:18pmDefinitely a mistake, he’s talking about the five stories in the season when explaining the Direct Route and says season five by mistake. And he’s drinking!
He does virtually confirm they working on black and white stories when he says they are longer seasons and more difficult to do, he is explaining it in the present tense
I still think 6 is coming soon
David
March 4th, 2021 - 12:56amCurrently have a pending transaction, dispatch email won’t be be far away now Also Jason Arnopp has had his copy to review so there should be a video from him in the next couple of days too!

March 3rd, 2021 - 11:00amCan’t wait for the Black and white seasons to be finally put on Blu-ray. Been watching the old seasons over last few weeks trying to watch them all eventually.
Really been enjoying watching them again. My only real gripe is the “muddyness” of the picture quality still. I should imagine this will be much improved for the collections?
The Loiterer
March 4th, 2021 - 12:14amHave a look at the reinserted clips on Whose Dr Who on the S14 collection, that’s the best indicator of future bd quality so far.
Auton
March 2nd, 2021 - 5:17pmThe Collection Trailer for this season has been released and the new colour restoration looks amazing
Philip Shaw
March 2nd, 2021 - 9:27pmBodes well for an improved season 7, and with season 11 with full colour episode 1 and cgi dinosaurs.
the ergon
March 2nd, 2021 - 11:50pmBudget might not stretch to both upgraded colourisation AND CG dinosaurs. I,d much prefer New CG for Planet of the spiders and a more dramatic regeneration into Tom rather than the pitiful fade in fade out that Jon got for his final story.
philip shaw
March 3rd, 2021 - 10:05am…not as pitiful as Colin B into Sylv though Ergon!
Auton
March 3rd, 2021 - 10:46amPersonally as a 3rd doctor fan I would prefer Dinosaurs getting the cgi treatment as that story needs it much more than Planet of the Spiders does
Prof Horner
March 3rd, 2021 - 11:34amBut then Philp Shaw, Jon Pertwee left because he wanted to. Unlike Colin Baker who was made the fall guy for the total failure of season 23. I currently watching season 7 in anticipation of season 8 due on Monday.
DPHill
March 3rd, 2021 - 2:12pmMight they dare to do both Spiders and Dinosaurs? I’m thikning this set will likely be in 2024 and coincide with the 50th anniversary of some of the episodes of that season and sarah-jane – the 60th anniversary before it will no doubt cause extra interest and perhaps a bigger budget? I’m only being hopeful though
The Loiterer
March 4th, 2021 - 12:25amI loathed the Pertwee/Baker regeneration when I was a kid, but as I grew older it became one of my favourites because it focuses entirely on the moment and not special effects – I’ve seen some fan attempts at adding effects and they kill the scene completely. I also admire the restraint of the TVM producers who didn’t use the expected morph but went for a simple form of wipe instead – I’m not a big fan of the movie but they did a nice job there.
the ergon
March 4th, 2021 - 10:48amLoiterer, it doesn,t require bombastic firework displays and such just something new and special to add to that moment. It is just an overlay after all. I,m a little disappointed they didn,t do the same with colin into sylvester (we still have that ridiculous Harpo wig in all its HD quality to look forward to) and a completely wasted opportunity for them to rectify that scene for Season 24 even though the rest of the effects still mostly stand up. Some upgraded effects for Spiders wouldn,t go amiss. True, Some of Invasions dinosaurs, the fight scenes and the the time scoop effects could do with an upgrade but would rather the upgraded colourisation on episode 1 gets more priority.
Jay John
March 5th, 2021 - 12:28amThey did as an Easter Egg, didn’t they?
JamButty
March 6th, 2021 - 2:54pmDPHill
Tony Hadoke said on a Q&A at VworpCon in 2019 that they would definitely be doing something with the dinosaur effects for the Blu-ray release.
But didn’t know if it would necessarily be CGI, could be new model effects so not too far removed from the original. But vastly improved.

March 1st, 2021 - 3:20pmWow! That’s A LOT of Reading! It’ll be interesting to see how far the Camera Scripts differ from the actual finished episodes – not a lot in Pertwee’s case I imagine I don’t think he deviated from the written scripts like William Hartnell and Tom Baker tended to Ha Ha! Looking forward to seeing (and reading) it all :-)!

February 27th, 2021 - 7:10pmAnyone ordered stuff from Hive before ? I ordered this when it was the only shop that still had it in stock but I have never heard of it and not sure about there delivery times
bryan
February 27th, 2021 - 9:11pmHive, Are superb. Everything you order, you can nominate a local store , specially for books, and they get a small % of the cost. you can even have it sent to the store for collection if it suits you better(not at the moment obviously)
They are usually much cheaper or just slightly deaerer in some cases, than Say Amazon. I tend to use them for books and Audiobooks, mostly.
Hope that helps.
jamie
February 27th, 2021 - 9:44pmThanks for the reply Bryan, that helps a lot , was just wary at first because I had never heard of it and it didn’t seem like the type of shop that would be selling this.
Coleman
February 28th, 2021 - 11:31amJamie, were you looking at the wrong site? When you Google Hive, usually the first on the list is a site that does smart home technology. The Hive you’ve bought from sells loads of Blu-ray, DVDs and CDs, especially Dr Who.
EvilDalek79
February 27th, 2021 - 6:50pmI wish there was an Isolated Score feature for The Mind of Evil with recreational of the other 4 scores, like what they did with Mindwarp’s score recreation for the Season 23 Boxset
DrWhoFanJ
February 28th, 2021 - 5:49pmI agree with the first part (the iso score), though I think recreating the scores for the other stories would be a bit much. Season 23 only had it because it was four episodes of the fourteen-part story, and all the scores still survived; it was only the music itself that didn’t, and there wasn’t even very much of it!
bryan
February 28th, 2021 - 8:18pmMNindwarp is a special case, as it was recreated , by the original composer Richard Hartly. Not the same as someone else re-creating music, without a score to work from. As much as small famous pieces (Unit/Master Themes) are ok. a complete score, by ear, would be such a huge challenge, and very time consuming.
better use of Budget on These more difficult eras, is on PQ

February 23rd, 2021 - 5:06pmTotally agree with you JL – think you’re more or less spot on with your predictions of what’s coming next / the release order for the next couple of years. Season 17 later this year, hold off Season 20 until 2023 – maybe Season 21 in 2022 instead? Also Seasons 11 and 15 next year, Seasons 9, 16, 20 and 22 in 2023 and Seasons 7, 13 and 25 in 2024. The Black and White Seasons I think will now be left until 2025 / 2026 until all the animations / reconstructions have been completed to a satisfactory degree. Although Season 1 with an animated Marco Polo might be a surprise release in 2023? It’s fun to speculate isn’t it :-)?
Mac
February 27th, 2021 - 9:35pmThey filmed with Lalla Ward because she moved to Hong Kong I believe.
I’d like to know what they’ll do with Planet of Giants. They really struggled with the DVD release for extras.
Prof Horner
February 23rd, 2021 - 11:14amSo now we have the roadmap out of lockdown, what are the chances of season 20 been released later this year? I understand most of the special features are done. Just a trip to Amsterdam to do. So maybe we are talking about say November release. I hope we may get a another Tom Baker season before then.
Lee
February 23rd, 2021 - 12:14pmSeeing as we have had a pattern of a Tom Baker release every year I could see that as next one then hopefully Season 20 after
Pete X
February 23rd, 2021 - 1:19pmIt all depends on how the roadmap proceeds, what the situation is in the Netherlands, what post-brexit barriers/regulations are in place and covid restrictions that remain in place whether filming for a short video feature can go ahead.
I think that 2022 would be the earliest possible release. In which case they might as well realease in 2023 for the 60th, and its 40th, anniversary.
If it is now unfeasible to make the feature for whatever reason, release could be this year all other work on the set having been done.
Scott Carrick
February 23rd, 2021 - 1:25pmI’m thinking Season 20 will slip into early next year. Hoping for Season 17 in September. Fingers Crossed :-)!
JL
February 23rd, 2021 - 2:01pmI know this a way off, but do you reckon we could see season 11 released late 2023, if not season 1, to coincide with Sarah Jane’s debut, or perhaps early 2024? Also, if we do get a 4th doctor release later this year, which season do you reckon we’ll get? I’m hoping to see season 17, not the best but I adore watching it, plus it may be nice to release this year as Lalla Ward turns 70.
Then next year we could see Season 20, Season 9 and either Season 15/16, leaving 2 seasons of Pertwee and Tom Baker left, and 1 each of Davison, Colin Baker and McCoy, plus seasons 1-6, though it would be a nice surprise to see one of either Seasons 2,5 or 6 get released, depending on whether they will wait for animations to be complete or not. If the rumour of Abominable being animated soon is true, and with the recent Web of Fear announcement, Season 5 would only require Wheel to be done
Prof Horner
February 23rd, 2021 - 4:28pmJust think when season 17 is released it will be complete for the first time. With Shada finishing the season as originally intended. I feel sure if it had been shown back in early 1980 ,the season would have been more highly regarded. Though season 17 is not my favourite season by along way I still forward to it’s release.
Scott Carrick
February 23rd, 2021 - 5:04pmTotally agree with you JL – think you’re more or less spot on with your predictions of what’s coming next / the release order for the next couple of years. Gordon
February 24th, 2021 - 1:25amLet’s not get too far ahead of ourselves with the roadmap. Pete x is quite right. In England Restrictions might be getting completely lifted on 21st of June but that all depends on how things go in the next 4 months. 21st of June is the earliest possible date. If cases and hospital cases rises with things opening up again and if it’s high enough it could put that date in jeopardy and it get pushed to later in the year. Even if England does lift its restrictions you still have the restrictions for France Belgium and the Netherlands to deal with as a road trip to Amsterdam would be driving through those countries. That’s not forgetting all the new red tape that would need to get through with the after effects of brexit. There is a lot to get through before we reach that point
Think it’s possible they might hold off doing season 17 for possible Paris filming for city of death. If they are going to do another Tom I’d say 15 as it’s good to get Tom and Louise while they are available. Louise did post on twitter the other week that she was working with Tom and was sworn to secrecy on what it was. Could always be for big finish though. It’s hard to say after that as I’d say season 20 but it might not be filmable then. I’d say 22 but then there is the possibility they might want to film in spain for the 2 doctors
daz
February 24th, 2021 - 8:29amI still think Season 16 will be the next 4th Doctor release as it would be good to space the companions out.
Time will tell, it always does.
Prof Horner
February 24th, 2021 - 9:48amFor what it is worth , I think is way too soon to allow foreign travel this summer . So maybe be season 16 would be the best option, it certainly the best season of the Williams era. And Gordon don’t get me started on Brexit!

February 18th, 2021 - 9:29pmI spoke to them on the phone. Their aim is to increase their catalogue to where it was before but they have to renegotiate with their suppliers. She said theres lots of legal issues to be resolved.

February 18th, 2021 - 10:39pmSeen someone mention on twitter that Apparently they are planning on selling doctor who material again but are unsure when that will be. Will be interesting to see their prices when they do get who stuff again as their current prices of things are ridiculously overpriced compared with other places

February 19th, 2021 - 12:39pmGive them a chance, they’ve only been up and running 2 days. Some of their BFI prices are the same as Amazon and Zavvi so I’ll be giving them my custom.

February 20th, 2021 - 12:30pmThings take time however they also need to make a good first impression and considering how over priced everything looked at first and some still do they just didn’t do that. I have noticed some of the prices have dropped since they opened. I feel this should have been sorted before they opened. One of the most important thing on any site is the prices. If it meant they had to delay the launch then so be it. They may become good but the jury is still out on them.
