Season 26 features four epic adventures traversing a future Britain invaded by inter-dimensional knights, a strange Victorian house haunted by ghosts from Ace’s past, an alien world populated by Cheetah People and a 1940s army camp under siege from monstrous vampires.
With guest stars including Nicholas Courtney (Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart), Anthony Ainley (The Master), Jean Marsh, Nicholas Parsons, Anne Reid, Ian Hogg, Sylvia Syms and comedy duo Hale & Pace, this fondly-remembered set of stories saw the end of an era for Doctor Who, and set the stage for its hugely successful revival.

January 27th, 2020 - 9:38pmBeen waiting nearly 15 years for a fenric making of and it didn’t disappoint. Real labour of love

January 27th, 2020 - 9:35pmGordon. Just started looking through the set. Top notch set as the rest are. But can you explain why Battlefield extended literally has copyright and the old bbc logo straight from the vhs. It feels like a rip and an upscale straight from the vhs with no editing. Thanks
James
January 29th, 2020 - 9:32pmIt is intended to be for nostalgia for fans who collected these stories on VHS in the 90s.

January 29th, 2020 - 11:04pmTo quote mark ayres: People requested the vhs versions as is so we gave them exactly what they wanted

January 27th, 2020 - 11:44amPreorderd awhile ago on zoom, yet it still hasnt come today. I cant understand why. Never had a problem with zoom or getting the set the day before release date, but it seems not even on the release date. Wondering if it’s worth calling up about so I dont go on a wild chase waiting for it like Gordon did with s23.
Anyone else had there copies today ? From zoom etc.

January 27th, 2020 - 3:16pmIm the same as you. Ordered from Zoom months ago and has not arrived. Usually I get the release on the Friday or Saturday before
Gordon
January 27th, 2020 - 6:01pmI’d contact them if it’s not here by Thursday or Friday to make them aware. They won’t do anything till after 10 days of dispatch though. If it still hasn’t arrived after 10 days they will offer a replacement or refund. Season 23 was still readily available after 10 days so I expect 26 will be too

January 27th, 2020 - 6:04pmI ordered from zoom and it arrived on Saturday. If you go into your zoom account it should tell you if the order is despatched or not.

January 27th, 2020 - 6:06pmOrdered mine on the day. Parent came out Tuesday and arrived Saturday

January 27th, 2020 - 9:48pmCheers Gordon, I’ve been emailed on Friday telling me its been despatched so I was quite surprised to see it not turn up on saturday as I’ve ordered within the last few days before release date and its arrived. I just hope that I wont lose out on this set due to something as silly as this. Hopefully it arrives and I can get a copy, it’s the set I’m wanting the most.

January 27th, 2020 - 10:28pmWhat is Janet Fielding’s problem with the titles?
They are an important part of my childhood and no Davison’s were not better!
Antonio Zambonini
January 28th, 2020 - 3:01amIs very odd then I thought it was unavailable on amazon a while back and ordered with zoom off eBay instead and paid upfront and they posted it and came Saturday

January 27th, 2020 - 11:44amMy copy finally arrived yesterday and it’s been amazing! In regards to The Wilderness Years, in addition to the TV Movie, Scream of the Shalka, Real Time, as well as the various documentaries and TV events, is it possible that it could include Dimensions in Time and Curse of Fatal Death or is that an impossibility? Also, when Season 17 gets the blu-ray treatment, will all the different versions of Shada be included or is that one just confined to its own seperate release?
Danielc
January 27th, 2020 - 1:18pmI think More Than Thirty Years in the TARDIS and Thirty Years in the TARDIS with be on the Wilderness Years set
dazzleshell
January 27th, 2020 - 1:53pmI hope Dimensions In Time is included just to have it. Even if it was a quid extra so that the money goes to Children In Need.
But if not I already burned a copy to dvd from YouTube along with Behind the Scenes video a few years back so will just slot the disc into the set.
I definitely want The Curse Of Fatal Death and anything else. Even a feature on stuff in 2004 leading to the 2005 series.
Anonymous
January 27th, 2020 - 3:21pmDimensions in Time is impossible, Curse of Fatal Death may be difficult but isn’t as bad as the other one was.
Gordon
January 27th, 2020 - 6:11pmDimensions has a 60 k clearance fee and tons of legal tape. I’d be suprised if it will ever get released. Curse might as it did get a vhs release.
Regarding shada in s17 I think there is a possibility that both the 1992 and 2017 versions will be included and maybe even a 6 part version of the 2007 shada. As for the mcgann shada it should be on the wilderness years set
Anonymous
January 27th, 2020 - 9:33pmHere’s a great idea what if we all donate money for the clearance fee. Is it possible
Anonymous
January 28th, 2020 - 7:37amI think the BBC once said that they would consider releasing TCOFD on DVD towards the end of the range, so I’d imagine it’ll be included.
Gordon
January 28th, 2020 - 11:28amEven if the money could be raised to pay the clearance fee there is still plenty of legal tape that would need to be crossed off before it would even be considered for release. Due to agreements at the time with equity as people worked on it for free Dimensions in time cannot be commercially released for any profit. Not even for charitable purposes. It would also needed to be agreed by everyone that worked on it and if 1 person can’t be tracked down or does not want it released the whole thing won’t happen. Trying to track down everyone that worked on it would cost a lot of time and money also
Anonymous
January 28th, 2020 - 11:17pmWay to be a downer. I wish I could be downer on these sets. I swear there’s some loophole around it. Dimensions in time in HD is all we need. also 3D blu Ray. Could you imagine.

January 27th, 2020 - 12:46amAny word on the re-release of Tom’s first season ?
Joe 90
January 27th, 2020 - 7:30amPotentially March or April according to a previous post on the recent Colin Baker release
Gordon
January 27th, 2020 - 10:24amDoubt it’s either March/April. March already has series 12 (the current series) and the faceless ones and April has season 14. They probably won’t want any clashes so I can’t see it happening till may
DrWhoFanJ
January 27th, 2020 - 8:16pmEspecially considering series 12 and season 12 could be very easily confused!
Ian Cotterill
January 26th, 2020 - 9:29pmI notice the ‘Search Out Science’ and ‘Destiny of the Doctors’ features seem to be absent from this set. An indication perhaps of a future ‘Wilderness Years’ box set?
Gordon
January 26th, 2020 - 9:42pmThink it’s pretty much a guarantee at this point
Prowl 1701
January 27th, 2020 - 12:19amHearing this from Gordon gives this so much more weight to me. He always seems to be in the know about things. I really hope we get a wilderness set sooner then later.
Gordon
January 27th, 2020 - 1:07amNothing official has been confirmed but the likes of who peter part 2 the doctor forever series destiny of the have to go somewhere and in the season 26 booklet it mentions that the seventh doctor would return briefly in a 1993 charity spoof dimensions in time and then in a 90 minute 1996 telemovie staring Paul McGann. But that is another story…..

The Ergon
January 26th, 2020 - 6:38pmWhy is there a copyrighted watermark on the extended workprint of Ghostlight? Its spoilt it.
Gordon
January 26th, 2020 - 6:45pmIt’s the only copy that’s available. There isn’t a non watermark version in existance That’s why it’s called a work print
Philip Shaw
January 26th, 2020 - 6:59pmIts the time clock
The Ergon
January 26th, 2020 - 7:05pmI just thought it was just a cleaned up extended copy of the original. Must do my homework. So is it all the unused scenes?
The Ergon
January 26th, 2020 - 8:24pmSo to include any other unused scenes, say from ‘The awakening’, the only way it could include those scenes with Kamelion would be with the watermark covering the time clock?
Gordon
January 26th, 2020 - 9:40pmPretty much all the extra scenes but 1 scene where the doctor wakes the inspector. The dialogue is repeated in another scene so it felt unessasary to have both scenes saying the exact same thing so it was dropped. Pretty much there is nothing else they can do as the time stamp is burned in to the vhs copy and that is the only copy of it in existence
The Ergon
January 26th, 2020 - 10:17pmOk thankyou for clarifying that.

January 27th, 2020 - 8:47pmForgot how brilliant The Special edition of ‘The Curse of Fenric’ was…
Gordon
January 25th, 2020 - 10:42pmWatching battlefield and it looks great for being 1” analogue tape. It’s never going to wow but it’s probably the best it’s ever going to look.

January 25th, 2020 - 5:55pmHave any of the special effects been updated for this Blu Ray release? Seen the BFI promotional video and it says updated effects for Curse of Fenric or are these the same as the DVD special release?
Gordon
January 25th, 2020 - 9:39pmThese are the same as the dvd special edition

January 25th, 2020 - 10:17amWow, mine just arrived. Completely forgot about it truth be told haha. And I only ordered it from zoom a couple weeks ago after having to cancel from HMV so I’m surprised mine has arrived amongst the first shipment

January 25th, 2020 - 10:02amOrdered mine from Amazon and it still hasn’t been dispatched yet. With me, they usually arrive either on the Sunday of the Monday, but so far, there hasn’t been any word from them. Does anyone know what time they usually start getting ready for shipping?

January 25th, 2020 - 11:27amMy Amazon order hasn’t shipped yet but they have taken the money from my bank account so I assume it’s despatch is imminent.
kevin225
January 25th, 2020 - 9:27pmStill no sign of any Amazon dispatch. I had the payment amount as a pending transaction in my bank account this morning. I guess not looking likely that it will arrive tomorrow now.

January 26th, 2020 - 1:11pmI’ve got an “arriving tomorrow” on my open order notifications
Kevin225
January 27th, 2020 - 6:51amEventually got a revised dispatch date of Wednesday! Having preordered within minutes of the original announcement- what is the point of that? Have cancelled and now ordered from Argos. A 4pm collection today apparently. Having missed this for Christmas, I’m hoping not to miss this for my Birthday (tomorrow) too!
