Well i’ve just reordered as the original was lost, should get it tomorrow

Hope this doesn’t happen with 25 but with it coming out in December it’s quite a busy time for Postman Pat

Eh? Season 25? December? whats all this then?

My chum Bobby indulging in wishful thinking again. If we don’t get another one this year and season 15 is next in February next year. Then I could see just two again next year, with the biggie season 6 released later next year. That would mean season 25 probably come out in 2025 . 25 in 25 kinda makes sense.

      September 25th, 2023 - 11:44am

If there is to be another release this calendar year – I can see it being a smaller / simpler set.

Something that doesn’t need alot of extensive restoration (rules out S7 & S11 potentially) plus has less stories to work with and a good selection of existing extra’s etc

S25 fits that bill but S15 & S16 have been suggested and expected for a while so could be contenders

Given the leak of a “Fang Rock” documentary – S15 is potentially within the next few sets to come out – plus its a Tom set – we haven’t had one for 2yrs

Either S15 or S25 are my guess as to what’s next, potentially S25 as that too has an anniversary in it

    • Rory

      September 25th, 2023 - 2:19pm

S16 also has an anniversary with the Stones of Blood being 15 years, although that one isn’t really acknowledged as much as the other three.

I know these sets haven’t finished as we’re only just over half way throw them. But maybe the next versions should be the Definitive Ultimate Collection. By which i mean they do Doctor sets woth everything in and all animations for any remaining missing story’s. Like the box sets they done in the past (eSpace, bred for war, etc). Be blu ray box size with each season incase in a cardboard sleeve or 1 mega box similar to the new xfiles and walking dead releases.

I know be expensive. Have the spine with the season on and the back of the box with the Doctor similar the the artwork for these sets. Like the 1-13 set that’s coming our with 9/10 in 1 box, 11 another, 12 another and 13 another.

I doubt there will be a next version. These are pretty much gonna be the final word on classic doctor who on disc especially seasons 12 onwards. Considering how much these sets costs and how much content each set contains and how definitive each set is I doubt there would be enough of a reason to go around again. Seasons 7-11 may have room for improvement restoration wise but that’s all going to depend on if restoration techniques improving them happens or if the original tapes turn up. 1-6 I can very much see being repackaging to include any animations or missing episodes that turn up than a full on go around. The people involved in the episodes might not be around to be involved in extras if there was a next time round. Looking at the pertwee era there is 3 main cast members left, 1 of which has recently retired from doing special features. The people restoring them aren’t getting any younger either. Mark ayres for instance is in his early 60s I believe. I can’t speak for him but He might not want another go around with it that would take him into his late 70s

    • James

      September 24th, 2023 - 1:25pm

Gordon. Just meant if they did another version. No new content except behind the scenes/making of for new animations/found story’s. Newer who actors could do behind the sofa if they want new contents. The 1-4 box set coming out is mainly content already out just upscaled and audio fixed. The series 1-13 set just has new rtd content by the looks. Who is sucha a money inner for bbc wouldn’t make sense to produce new copies. Harry potter has been released on VHS, dvd, blu ray, new blh ray, 4k, special dvd, collectors dvd, etc

    • Gordon

      September 24th, 2023 - 4:09pm

You would include things like making ofs and behind the sofa on the separate animated releases after the season sets were released. The only reason fans are interested in the new season 1-4 box set is because it’s a new remaster which may or may not have the issue of the previous blu ray fixed. Without that there wouldn’t be anywhere near the interest in the release.

There is a benefit to putting Harry Potter out on 4k. There ain’t a benefit to classic who on 4k outside of maybe spearhead. Not sure if Harry Potter physical media buyers are really comparable with classic who. Majority are younger who want every version and variation of packaging and extra bits and bobs that they put out. Classic doctor who fans are mostly older and mostly upgrade because there is a jump in quality or the extras are substantial enough to rebuy. They aren’t buying again because they are repackaged with figures models and a bunch of aditional tat. Needs to be a reason to rebuy again Sure some have re bought via the steelbooks but that is a different merchandise line.

    • Gregor

      September 24th, 2023 - 6:05pm

The standard editions of the sets are going to be the definitive versions going forward which is why the extras on some of the sets being less than definitive has rubbed people the wrong way season 17 no horns making of the lack of anything for season 2 . I don’t see any of the stories being re released individually unless they start recolouring the 60s stories like rumoured an Unearthly child being done for the 60th or come up with something more definitive for some pertwee stories like The Dæmons which despite efforts don’t look good on blue ray . Maybe the two doctors could justify its own steelbook or something if they get the film back only because it’s a multi doctor story few alone would justify it like the small amount of footage found from seasons 18 and 19 that haven’t had any sort of release because the respective stories aren’t important enough.

    • Gordon

      September 25th, 2023 - 12:10am

I can’t say I agree with some of those

Season 17 not including a nimon making of really couldn’t be helped. Tom didn’t want to talk about it. Lalla had already moved to Hong Kong so not available, writer director producer all dead. Only Janet Ellis and Michael Osbourne remained. Not really enough people around to do a making of. From what I heard power of kroll only has Tom baker and John leeson left and neither have anything positive to say on it so don’t expect a making of for that when season 16 rolls around either. Simply put some stories won’t get making ofs for the simple reason there just isn’t enough people around.

Lack of anything on season 2:

The missing 10 seconds of time meddler recreated
      Season 2 overview
      Collectors documentary
      David Whittaker documentary
      2 in conversation interviews
      6 behind the sofas
      The lion commentary
      2 newly created reconstructions
      Enhanced soundtrack on dioe.
      Updated production subtitles
      New Hd photo gallery

Does not sound like they did hardly anything.

The daemons doesn’t look great due to the print quality being poor. The only way to improve upon that is if a better print turned up or the original tapes turn up.

A two doctors steelbook/standalone release would be nice if the original film turns up but there is no guarantees that it will

They have already said the studio footage from keeper of traken and four to doomsday will appear on another collection release. At about an hour of studio footage from each show there simply isn’t enough content to give them a separate rerelease. Nothing to do with not being important enough.

Also fits the suspicion with it being a Tom set

      September 24th, 2023 - 1:36am

Not sure where the date has come from. Seems to have come from nowhere.Wouldn’t be too surprised just wish it isnt as far away as February.

read a few other rumours via Facebook comments this evening but I’m not convinced as it’s very much “my sources say”. Season 13 is ready to go and 25 is finished as Sophie and Sylvester have recorded extras for it.Very possible that they have done extras for both of the seasons but does not mean either of those seasons are ready. I feel we will get 25 next year so it’s very possible Sylvester and Sophie have already recorded their bits for it or at least some of it. Would not surprise me if they have already banked all of tom’s contributions considering his age. We have had material on season 2 and 20 that was recorded 4 years previously and Chris has about 11 documentaries over 8 releases (I suspect some will be for animations) still to come out. Some are probably years off.

      September 24th, 2023 - 8:21am

I have a feeling S13 will have some green in the colour scheme (Zygons and Seeds)

I’m actually looking forward to S25 – I enjoy that one, if that were to come soon I wouldn’t complain.

We must be due another B&W set within the next couple to release – they’re going to mix them up surely and not do all 5 at the end.

I feel S1 or S6 could be the next B&W set we see.

S5 and S4 have recent animations that may need to wait X years before they are re packaged for sale again in a different format (get the most return on the initial solo release) and S3 well ………

Well you know view on season 25 , I am happy for it to come out next year (which will make Bobby happy!).I just want season 6 to come out first. It would be disappointing if the next set is February. Meaning for the second year running there will be only two sets this year. We can only hope there a big surprise coming to end this anniversary year.
I did laugh at the end of Let’s go Dutch, when Mark mentioned them all having senior rail cards. Something I recently got myself!

      September 24th, 2023 - 10:46am

I reckon the schedule for the back end of the collection might be based on the release of three seasons annually consiting a well regarded colour season (ymmv), a less well regarded colour season, and a bw season. Each a different doctor and (as far as possible) different doctors to the previous year. Two years between the more complete bw seasons and the most fanfavoured seasons being left towards the end (13, 21).

On the above Seasons 6, 15, and 25 are quite likely next year.

A Feb 2024 release could be an animation – Smugglers to go with Chris Chapman’s filming in a “pretty location”

Received this Last Tuesday, didn’t start till Wednesday as I was at work when it arrived and have a habit of watching the extras first, then the episodes. So Far, only got up to watching Part 2 of ‘Enlightenment’ but this has been a worthwhile set for a underrated Season…
‘Arc of Infinity’ is a breath of air as I think I only saw it once before on DVD, ‘Snakedance’ is doubly chilling with the inclusion of the CGI Snake (like ‘Kinda’ from Season 19′ but refined a bit for the sequel story), and ‘Mawdryn Undead’ still a brilliant tale. Was shocked how little I remembered ‘Terminus’, but this is a great gem, even though it rushed Nyssa’s farewell… and the Behind the Sofa’s for Season 20 have been fun and insightful (Plus Janet and Peter’s arguments are hilarious when you see the problems in context of rewatching them years after you made them) as well as the in conversation with Janet and Sarah. BBC has knocked it out of the ballpark yet again. yes their are minor spelling issues and bits (Strange I haven’t seen a mention of the Disc of the TV Version of ‘The Five Doctors’ is subtitled (The TX Version) but lots on the errors on Info Text and edited Docs to remove offending material – but the easter egg where cast discuss the incident of Janet’s Boob Tube Drama is still intact?)

can’t wait for the next collection reveal, no matter what season it is (I only hope for a Troughton season as he hasn’t had a collection set of his own but to be fair, he has dominated the animation line)

I honestly didn’t think of it being that…, I did wonder if it was a reference to the production code, but it wasn’t that number and even if it was, Special edition would have the same one…

I’m just happy that Season 20 got its time to shine… plus between Seasons 17-26 (Barring 21 and 25) we are close to having 10 consecutive years available on Blu-Ray

I am absolutely loving this collection, well worth the wait. Especially for me I’m enjoying all the extras especially the convention panel footage with Carole Anne Ford, Jon Pertwee & Pat Troughton as sadly Jon & Pat had passed away by the time I got to go to conventions so this is the closest I’ll sadly ever get to the experience. & The Janet meets Martin Clunes interview had me in stitches & tears of laughter!
Fantastic set for my second favourite classic Doctor,
I’m now with everyone else hoping we get one more set this year around the 60th anniversary.
Also I think it would be great in the run up to the 60th specials if the BBC would show a story from each of the 13 Doctors so far. I think it would be nice.

Something I’ve just remembered: David J Howe recorded effective commentary tracks as research for the DW Handbook series. Has anyone heard any discussions about including these on Collection sets? I know the sound is going to be poor, but so were some of the (excellent) interviews on the Twilight Zone sets – and a Pertwee commentary, even if it had to be subtitled, would surely be worth it? (For Spearhead from Space, IIRC.)

Are these things not quality checked? The mistakes on the info text are shoddy at best, an embarrassment at worst – and I’ve only watched 3 stories. Several spelling mistakes on Arc of Infinity and Snakedance. Now on Mawdryn Undead there are letters missing from words and the text goes out of sync with the pictures on-screen, especially during the clips shown in episode two before the Brig regains his memory. Very poor.

Just spoken to Amazon as my delivery date is still showing this coming Saturday, I’d used a gift card so cancelling and reordering isn’t that simple or l would. No straight answers as to why when l ordered a copy on announcement day for delivery on the day of release why mine is so delayed when others have received theirs. l was told my case would be escalated, so fingers crossed it appears sooner and if there are issues with it I’ll be able to change it, anyone else in the same boat may want to try speaking to Amazon customer service as well – they call you back.

Amazon says mines due Monday. I contacted them and they get confused with Estimated delivery time and release date.

Some call centre staff wont do anything due to the estimated date.

Others will do stuff but its pot luck until their estimated delivery date arrives,

I pre-Ordered mine about 2mins after it was announced.
Had a delivery date of 25th, up until yesterday when it suddenly dispatched, it’s due today by 10pm.
It’s not very good the prime members who pay £95 pre order stuff and then the day it’s released people can order it that day and receive it the next whilst you have to wait for your pre order days later.
Amazon customer service are dreadful and do very little other than fob you off.
I had an argument with them over pre order price guarantee which they just couldn’t seem to understand and claimed Amazon didn’t do this kind of thing!
Their general stock answer is do you want me to cancel it for you and you can reorder!

Without a shadow of doubt they should honour orders placed earliest 1st – even if you don’t have Prime (which l do). Talking to someone has always worked better for me than the online chat, its just a shame that Amazon doesn’t allow you to rate the delivery time, it may help them recognise this issue and also stop anyone leaving a poor product review just based on the delivery – which you sometimes see happen. Hope everyone gets theirs soon and thanks for the gift card advice

Just received mine today. A little disappointed on the Quality Control on this one. 3 of the discs have some quite nasty noticeably big scratches on them. I haven’t had an issue with a single disc on previous sets.

I’ll be watching through it all this week and if I get any issues on my player then I’m going to get it replaced. Especially with the prices going up too.

Just seems weird to have 3 like that in 1 boxset. But anyway, can’t wait to get stuck into the awesome content!

No scratches on any of the discs in my set as far as I can see – but the box is a little “out” in it’s construction

The early sets were all perfect but this is the 2nd or 3rd I’ve got that’s a little out (folds not in the exact correct place etc)

Should be able to start watching this week so will report back on any motion blur if I see any

Amazon put mine in a paper bag. Last month they packed my cyberman pannini book in a box with a seperatte regular order of detergent. They need an option for enhanced packaging for collectors items.

Ok guess what making of Chris chapman has been working on the last few weeks:

this mystery WhoRay making-of should start its grade this week – it currently features eleven contributors and a very pretty location. Plus a specially commissioned CGI walkthrough of the original sets!

New making of now locked at 42mins 40secs!

We can immediately throw out such seasons as 7,11, 13 and 25 as every story from those seasons all have making ofs. I think we can rule out season 1,3,5 or 6 as I don’t feel any of those stories that don’t have making ofs would be filming in a pretty location. I don’t think it’s for season 16 either as he recently shared a photo of kroll and said he wished he’d done a making of for it. Ed stradling also said he had been commisioned to do a making of for the dvd 15 years ago but turned it down as most of the people involved are dead.

Personally I think it’s 1 of 4 stories. Most to least likely.

1: smugglers. Heavily rumoured for animation. Cornwall is a pretty location. 11 contributors sounds a lot but if you have annake maybe Toby hosting it. 4-5 behind the scenes people and maybe 4-5 locals it could fit 11 people. Considering next to nothing exists of it would make sense to have cgi recreations of the original sets.

2: Horror of fang rock: Louise Jameson was filming something earlier this year at the same time Chris chapman was which may or may not be a coincidence. Shared a photo of her at beachy head which does have a lighthouse. Could easily have 11 contributors. Not sure why they would have cgi recreations of the sets though

3: Resurrection of the daleks: I suppose some would call shad Thames pretty. This is probably less likely. I suspect filming would have leaked seeing how busy the area is. Plus I can see more than 11 people involved. Again don’t see why they would need cgi sets for that one

4: the highlanders: least likely of the 4 due to the reported issues with animation. Frensham common is nice though. Could probably get 11 contributors. Plus it would make sense to include cgi sets

      Sounds interesting Gordon

Are you thinking then that this is a making of – to go on a Smugglers Animation release – rather than a Season 4 Collection?

I can see Season 15 or 16 being within the next few sets to come out as we are due a Tom season surely

    • Gordon

      September 19th, 2023 - 11:09am

I’m thinking it’s most likely for a smugglers animated release. There isn’t much completely surviving stories left from the remaining seasons that don’t have making ofs at this point.if you look at 1970/80s seasons it’s just fang rock, kroll, resurrection and twin dilemma left.

People on Twitter are also reporting having discs that have weird motion blur/ it looks like the image almost goes slow motion for a second.

I’ve had it frequently throughout Arc of Infinity and Snakedance so far (that’s as far as I’ve gotten through the set).

So you may want to check your sets. I’m gonna get another copy and see if those discs have the same issues and yes my TV has the correct settings etc.

Please tell me if you’re having similar issues. Cheers 🙂

      September 19th, 2023 - 1:54pm

All the discs will be the same because they’ve only had time for one pressing. Try freeze framing and advancing, see if the image edges are sharp or not. My set is still in transit, but bearing in mind the ever increasing levels of noise reduction it might be that they’ve gone even further this time.

Someone mentioned it before and thought it was a Fault with the Discs then they realised it was a problem with their Playstation after its latest software update.
Later they tried the Discs in the Blu Ray player and they worked fine.

Are you sure your ps5 is sending the discs native 50hz signal to your OLED and not forcing it as 60hz or 24hz?

    • Jake E

      September 19th, 2023 - 5:59pm

I’ve tried it on multiple Blu-Ray players now and it’s the same issue. I’ve not had this issue with any of the other sets. I was watching Season 9 just days before Season 20 and it was perfect.

Some of us that were talking on Twitter has sent an email to BBC DVD to see if there’s anything they can do or suggest.

It’s a shame as this is my first time watching these stories (except for Five Doctors) and I’m just distracted all the time by the weird slow motion that happens every 2 mins haha

I’ve got another copy coming tomorrow so we’ll see if that’s ok. I’m not holding my breath but thanks for the suggestions

I am noticing it too. Watched Five Doctors. It was perfect. Watched Arc of Infinity and it’s not great quality. Almost like blurred syrup on screen when characters move. Very odd. Not sure if it’s just the poor quality of the master showing up badly on Blu-ray or whether it’s been re mastered at the wrong speed. It’s weird.

    • Rex Farrel

      September 20th, 2023 - 2:33am

Is the shot starting 1’38” on Arc ep 3 one of the problem areas? I’ve skimmed through some of the disc and this is one of a few areas I spotted where the 50i motion disappeared – even though it is 50i content. Something is causing either TV or player (99% chance it’s the player) to momentarily weave the image into a progressive one on certain settings – if I force the player to output the raw 50i image then the problem is barely noticeable, and only at the very start of the movement in the shot. So it could be that something about the video, or the flagging, is sending confusing messages to some part(s) of the equipment. Try outputting native format video, and if there’s something like “cinema conversion mode”, set it to ‘video’ rather than ‘auto’ or anything else.

    • Ricky

      September 20th, 2023 - 8:35am

If you have “film cadence” mode switch it off and also try switching on/off “4k direct mode”if that is on your OLED.
Other things to try are outputting a 1080i signal from your ps5.

Another thing to try is actually engaging frame creation on its minimum setting, I know this is frowned upon and I wouldn’t use it unless I had to but I remember a few tvs a few years back created blurring/stuttering on anything that was 50i and this cured it.

    • The Time Lord 1944

      September 21st, 2023 - 9:29pm

I had exactly the same problem. Exactly the image you describe. Then I changed my TV display settings. I have an LG and I set the display to game mode. Suddenly the picture was solid and clear. No distortion at all. I don’t know what game mode is or why I had to set the TV to game mode but it worked. I hope you have a similar setting that resolves it. I didn’t have to set Five Doctors to game mode so it is very odd.

    • Jake E

      September 22nd, 2023 - 8:24am

Thanks Time Lord I’ll try this later.

I think Game Mode lowers picture quality a tad and turns off all image processing which could explain why that works for you

    • The Time Lord 1944

      September 22nd, 2023 - 1:05pm

Let me know if it improves things. To me all the faults have gone and I dont see a drop in picture quality. Something is obviously not right though if it only plays faultlessly on this one setting. Maybe that’s why other people haven’t seen the issue, because maybe they already have the display set to this setting or similar. It’s odd that Five Doctors plays perfectly on any setting yet the other episodes require one picture mode. I’ve never had this with any other collection release.

    • Jake E

I found setting my 4k player to video rather than auto has solved the problem. Wondering if something in the discs encoding is causing issues with the auto selection.

    • The Time Lord 1944

      September 24th, 2023 - 11:58pm

Gio I am sure you are right. I am sure it is something that can be resolved by altering settings. The discs seem to be sending out wrong messages to the player. Although there seems to be a fault in the encoding it’s a fault that can be controlled rather than require disc replacement. Some people aren’t noticing it so their players must already be on the right settings. I set my TV display to Game Mode on the TV which improved the problem but did not solve it completely. I am going to try altering my Blu-ray player diaplay settings from auto to 1080p to see if that helps.

    • The Time Lord 1944

      September 25th, 2023 - 10:32am

I will do that. What I find odd is that it’s not just the episodes on the disc effected by the judder or shimmering. It’s the entire disc. The Behind the Sofa episodes on the effected discs also have the same issue. So it’s not an issue with remastering the episodes. It’s an issue with the entire disc. the Five Doctors discs don’t have the issue at all.

    • The Time Lord 1944

      September 25th, 2023 - 12:20pm

Some are reporting this issue and some are not. I wonder if it’s a faulty batch. Where did you order your copy from? Mines from Amazon.

    • Caleb H

      September 25th, 2023 - 1:13pm

I have just sent an email to [email protected] noting issues of motion juddering/flickering on discs one, two, three and six of this release (I’ve gone through every disc and only notice the issue on these four). I’ve also tried adjusting every setting and updating my 4K player, PlayStation 5 and my 4K TV to alleviate this issue with no luck 🙁

I also flagged with them the seemingly missing special effects on disc eight at 0:47:16 and 0:47:18, with the Raston Warrior Robot jumping and landing without any updated effects.

    • The Time Lord 1944

      September 25th, 2023 - 3:18pm

Caleb H it is very strange. The movement and juddering is on the special features too, even Behind the Sofa, which made me think it has to be something to do with the discs themselves. I wonder if it is a certain batch as some people are not flagging this up at all. I assumed there was just one limited batch though so I don’t know how some discs are bad and others are not. Where did you purchase yours? Mine was from Amazon.

    • Caleb H

      September 26th, 2023 - 1:50am

Time Lord – I actually ordered mine from Rarewaves. I haven’t heard back from DVDSupport yet either but I do think a disc replacement program will be required to correct these issues (something must have gone wrong with the disc encoding).

I received mine today from Amazon after stating 23rd up to yesterday when it changed to Tuesday 19th but came today on release day so very pleased but I was shocked when the driver handed it to me it’s not packed but just in it’s original clear shrink wrapping with the delivery address stuck to the back.
Fortunately it appears to be ok bar a small indent on the spine but if others have been delivered like this I can imagine many being damaged.
I’m fully behind minimising packaging as much as possible but never had this before.
So now like others I shall look forward to watching it.

I spent the weekend watching season 20, which came on Wednesday last week! So can now say its worth every bit. This slightly thicker boxset might come in for some adjustments when issued as standard issue later next year. 9 discs are very tight in the standard size plastic shells. Be interesting to see what they come up with.
The boxset itself is very well made though the disc trays are slightly uneven. My overall view, season 20 really packs in theres so much to see, i cant wait for the next titles.

So it wasn’t just mine! My copy from Amazon urned up battered and bruised after just having an address label slapped on the shrinkwrap! Who in their right mind thought this was a good idea? Immediately returned it on Amazon and ordered replacement – which arrived the next day in a box and in mint condition. But also complained to Amazon and got a £5 credit. Just started watching and, so far, spotted two spelling mistakes in the info text – “and” spelt “ad” and “temporary” spelt “tempporary”! Standards are slipping!

My copy has just arrived, but the insert for the booklet is glued too close to the edge of the front cover, so it doesn’t close properly.

There should be the same edge between the outer and inner parts all the way round the outer cover, but mine sits flush on the front right edge, which then pushes out the spine.

Has anyone else got this problem?

Mines not arrived yet but i will check later on

I have had previous sets arrive before where the fold for the front cover is a couple of mm wider than it should be – so looking down from the top it gives like a triangle shape and doesnt sit flat all the way along

      We shall see

    • D84

      September 18th, 2023 - 6:10pm

Mines just arrived – and is the same as you describe Rory.

The booklet holder not only seems a little thicker than the others – but it’s also a couple of mm too far forward on the front cover flap.

The wrap over front cover flap is therefore a little out when closed – but I’ve got that on at least one other set so I’m not overly concerned.

No dents or scratches on my copy so otherwise I’m all good

It’s certainly a big box – looks to be the widest box spine of the range so far – it kind of dwarfs the 6 disc sets (S10 / 12 / 23) but adds variation to the shelf so I’m happy

    • Rory

      September 19th, 2023 - 2:29pm

I ordered a replacement which arrived today (Amazon Prime working well for once) and that one is much better with placement of the booklet holder, but still a little off.

I wouldn’t mind ordinarily but I buy the Steelbook Central covers and these minute differences can make the difference between it fitting into the cases or not.

I just noticed something. Maybe some had already noticed. If you look at the artwork on the blu rays in the collection, you’ll notice that the background behind the doctors is his intro. And so far nothing new. BUT if you look carefully you’ll notice that each doctor’s artwork follows the different phases of the theme song. I’ll explain. Sylvester Mccoy’s theme song is composed of an explosion of dots of light, a galaxy and boulders. If you look at the seasons that have been released so far of Mcoy you can notice that the 24th season has dots of light as its background and the 26th has boulders. So I expect season 25 to have the galaxy. It is also very noticeable in the Pertwee box sets released so far. I don’t know why but it fascinates me a lot.

Lucky you! Still haven’t heard anything from Amazon about when my copy is coming. Still says the 25 th . Haven’t had any problems with Amazon before, so hopefully I will hear something soon . Anybody else heard from Amazon yet?

Still waiting for mine to dispatch from Amazon, but the money has been taken from my account so I expect it to ship today or tomorrow. Then the long wait for it to cross the pond.

I order mine within hours of the Announcement and still showing as arriving 23rd September on Amazon. The last set I cancelled my original order on Release Day and ordered it as a same day delivery (which seems an odd way of doing it). Amazon Prime isn’t what it was – release day delivery even for pre-orders of several months notice is the exception not the norm now. Amazon are also using Royal Mail a lot more for deliveries with all the challenges that that brings (certainly in our area). First World problems though.

I Haven’t had chance to watch mine yet, but I’m also thinking of going straight to the 5 doctors. Would you say the new 40th version is the best of the 3?

I saw it at the BFI this weekend and it was amazing. The film inserts being in HD is awesome. Sure going to and fro between tape and film can be a teeny bit disorienting. I loved the relevant Doctor accurate effect at the end (if you know, you know). Can’t wait to watch it again at home.

On the new Blu-Ray Arc of Infinity has this weird motion blur effect quite frequently when people are moving. Why?

This is my 1st time watching this story so I’m not sure if the DVD is the same. I’ve only really seen something similar for the 60’s seasons.

Sounds like you might have motion effects turned on your tv.

Nope I have a OLED TV for a couple of years with the correct settings. It’s just for that story in some of the scenes where the people are moving you can see like a weird motion blur not sure what’s up with that. Other discs I play are fine. Weird

Looks like it was a PS5 issue, it was fine until the recent update so not sure what’s happened. I put it in my other Blu-ray player and it appears to be fine now 🙂

Actually it’s still happening just not as bad. Maybe it’s supposed to be this way but I’m just noticing it more than usual? Not sure

The issue with Amazon is not specific to this release. All my recent pre releases from Amazon have arrived mid week at the earliest. Another Blu-ray title released this monday has also failed to dispatch. I think as smaller businesses fold and Amazon picks up the customers they don’t have the staff or resources to maintain the quick service they had. Very annoying.

Our cheerful postie delivered a copy today at lunch time.

Opened it up – no loose discs or disc trays, no scratched/finger marked discs, no dents or crushing on the packaging, so I’ll take that as a win.

Everything about the set is fantastic, the artwork, the detailed booklet and the content.

Noticed the Special Edition version of The Five Doctors (disc 9) has a 12 rating, whereas the other two have a PG rating. Guess this must be related to the extras such as the road trip or the visit to Amsterdam… Who noes?

Think I’ll start with the 40th Anniversary of The Five Doctors…

Most definitely the extras. They’re a lot freer with the language on this release – particularly on the various convention and studio footage.
